The Appointed Festivals
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.
The Sabbath
3“ ‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.
The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread
4“ ‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times: 5The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. 6On the fifteenth day of that month the Lord’s Festival of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. 7On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. 8For seven days present a food offering to the Lord. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.’ ”
Offering the Firstfruits
9The Lord said to Moses, 10“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. 11He is to wave the sheaf before the Lord so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. 12On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord a lamb a year old without defect, 13together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah23:13 That is, probably about 7 pounds or about 3.2 kilograms; also in verse 17 of the finest flour mixed with olive oil—a food offering presented to the Lord, a pleasing aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin23:13 That is, about 1 quart or about 1 liter of wine. 14You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
The Festival of Weeks
15“ ‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. 16Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. 17From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the Lord. 18Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the Lord, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 19Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering23:19 Or purification offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. 20The priest is to wave the two lambs before the Lord as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the Lord for the priest. 21On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
22“ ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
The Festival of Trumpets
23The Lord said to Moses, 24“Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. 25Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.’ ”
The Day of Atonement
26The Lord said to Moses, 27“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves,23:27 Or and fast; similarly in verses 29 and 32 and present a food offering to the Lord. 28Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. 29Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. 30I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. 31You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”
The Festival of Tabernacles
33The Lord said to Moses, 34“Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Lord’s Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. 35The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. 36For seven days present food offerings to the Lord, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the Lord. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work.
37(“ ‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing food offerings to the Lord—the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. 38These offerings are in addition to those for the Lord’s Sabbaths and23:38 Or These festivals are in addition to the Lord’s Sabbaths, and these offerings are in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the Lord.)
39“ ‘So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of sabbath rest. 40On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees—from palms, willows and other leafy trees—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41Celebrate this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42Live in temporary shelters for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters 43so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
44So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed festivals of the Lord.
Calendario de fiestas solemnes
1El Señor ordenó a Moisés 2que dijera a los israelitas: «Estas son las fiestas que yo he establecido y a las que ustedes han de convocar como fiestas solemnes en mi honor. Yo, el Señor, las establecí.
Celebración del sábado
3»Trabajarán ustedes durante seis días, pero el séptimo día es de completo reposo; es un día de asamblea sagrada en mi honor, en el que no harán ningún trabajo. Dondequiera que ustedes vivan, será sábado consagrado al Señor.
Fiesta de la Pascua
23:4-8 – Éx 12:14-20; Nm 28:16-25; Dt 16:1-8
4»Estas son las fiestas que el Señor ha establecido, las fiestas solemnes en su honor que ustedes deberán convocar en las fechas señaladas para ellas: 5La Pascua del Señor comienza el día catorce del mes primero, al comenzar la noche. 6El día quince del mismo mes comienza la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura en honor al Señor. Durante siete días comerán pan sin levadura. 7El primer día celebrarán una asamblea sagrada en su honor; ese día no harán ningún trabajo. 8Durante siete días presentarán al Señor ofrendas puestas al fuego y el séptimo día celebrarán una asamblea sagrada en su honor; ese día no harán ningún trabajo».
Fiesta de las Primicias
9El Señor ordenó a Moisés 10que dijera a los israelitas: «Cuando ustedes hayan entrado en la tierra que les voy a dar y sieguen la mies, deberán llevar al sacerdote una gavilla de las primeras espigas que cosechen. 11El sacerdote mecerá la gavilla ante el Señor para que sea aceptada. La mecerá a la mañana siguiente del sábado. 12Ese mismo día sacrificarán ustedes un cordero de un año, sin defecto, como holocausto al Señor. 13También presentarán dos décimas partes de un efa23:13 Es decir, aprox. 3.2 kg; también en v. 17. de harina refinada mezclada con aceite, como ofrenda de cereal puesta al fuego, de aroma grato al Señor y un cuarto de hin23:13 Es decir, aprox. 1 l. de vino como ofrenda líquida. 14No comerán pan ni grano tostado o nuevo, hasta el mismo día en que traigan esta ofrenda a su Dios. Este será un estatuto perpetuo para todos tus descendientes dondequiera que habiten.
Fiesta de las Semanas
23:15-22 – Nm 28:26-31; Dt 16:9-12
15»A partir del día siguiente al sábado, es decir, a partir del día en que traigan la gavilla de la ofrenda mecida, contarán siete semanas completas. 16En otras palabras, contarán cincuenta días incluyendo la mañana siguiente al séptimo sábado; entonces presentarán al Señor una ofrenda de grano nuevo. 17Desde su lugar de residencia llevarán al Señor, como ofrenda mecida de las primicias, dos panes hechos con dos décimas partes de un efa de harina refinada, cocidos con levadura. 18Junto con el pan deberán presentar siete corderos de un año, sin defecto, un ternero y dos carneros. Serán, junto con sus ofrendas de cereal y sus ofrendas líquidas, un holocausto al Señor, una ofrenda puesta al fuego cuyo aroma es grato al Señor. 19Luego sacrificarán un macho cabrío como ofrenda por el pecado y dos corderos de un año como sacrificio de comunión. 20El sacerdote mecerá los dos corderos, junto con el pan de las primicias. Son una ofrenda mecida ante el Señor, una ofrenda consagrada al Señor y reservada para el sacerdote. 21Ese mismo día convocarán ustedes a una asamblea sagrada, y en ese día no harán ningún trabajo. Este será un estatuto perpetuo para todos tus descendientes, dondequiera que habiten.
22»Cuando llegue el tiempo de la cosecha, no sieguen hasta el último rincón del campo ni recojan todas las espigas que queden de la mies. Déjenlas para los pobres y los extranjeros. Yo soy el Señor su Dios».
Fiesta de las Trompetas
23:23-25 – Nm 29:1-6
23El Señor ordenó a Moisés 24que dijera a los israelitas: «El primer día del mes séptimo será para ustedes un día de reposo, una conmemoración con toques de trompeta, una asamblea sagrada. 25Ese día no harán ningún trabajo, sino que presentarán al Señor ofrendas puestas al fuego».
El día del Perdón
23:26-32 – Lv 16:2-34; Nm 29:7-11
26El Señor dijo a Moisés: 27«El día diez del mes séptimo es el día del Perdón. Celebrarán una asamblea sagrada en honor al Señor, y ayunarán y le presentarán ofrendas puestas al fuego. 28En ese día no harán ningún tipo de trabajo, porque es el día del Perdón, cuando se pide perdón por el pecado de ustedes ante el Señor su Dios. 29Cualquiera que no ayune ese día será eliminado de su pueblo. 30Si alguien hace algún trabajo en ese día, yo mismo lo eliminaré de su pueblo. 31Por tanto, no harán ustedes ningún trabajo. Este será un estatuto perpetuo para todos sus descendientes, dondequiera que habiten. 32Será para ustedes un sábado de completo reposo, y deberán observar el ayuno. Este sábado lo observarán desde la tarde del día nueve del mes hasta la tarde siguiente».
Fiesta de las Enramadas
23:33-43 – Nm 29:12-39; Dt 16:13-17
33El Señor ordenó a Moisés 34que dijera a los israelitas: «El día quince del mes séptimo comienza la fiesta de las Enramadas en honor al Señor, la cual durará siete días. 35El primer día se celebrará una asamblea sagrada. Ese día no harán ningún trabajo. 36Durante siete días presentarán al Señor ofrendas puestas al fuego. Al octavo día celebrarán una asamblea sagrada en honor al Señor y volverán a presentarle ofrendas puestas al fuego. Es una asamblea sagrada; ese día no harán ningún trabajo.
37»Estas son las fiestas que el Señor ha establecido, y a las que ustedes habrán de convocar como fiestas solemnes en su honor, para presentarle ofrendas puestas al fuego, holocaustos, ofrendas de cereal, sacrificios y ofrendas líquidas, tal como está ordenado para cada día. 38Todas estas fiestas son adicionales a los sábados del Señor y a los tributos y ofrendas votivas o voluntarias que ustedes le presenten.
39»A partir del día quince del mes séptimo, luego de que hayan recogido los frutos de la tierra, celebrarán durante siete días la fiesta del Señor. El primer día y el octavo serán de descanso especial. 40El primer día tomarán frutos de los mejores árboles, ramas de palmera, de árboles frondosos y de sauces de los arroyos, y durante siete días se regocijarán en presencia del Señor su Dios. 41Cada año, durante siete días, celebrarán esta fiesta en honor al Señor. La celebrarán en el mes séptimo. Este será un estatuto perpetuo para las generaciones venideras. 42Durante siete días vivirán bajo enramadas. Todos los israelitas nativos vivirán bajo enramadas, 43para que sus descendientes sepan que yo hice vivir así a los israelitas cuando los saqué de Egipto. Yo soy el Señor su Dios».
44Así anunció Moisés a los israelitas las fiestas establecidas por el Señor.
