1These were the sons of Israel:
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, 2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
Judah
To Hezron’s Sons
3The sons of Judah:
Er, Onan and Shelah. These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death. 4Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar bore Perez and Zerah to Judah. He had five sons in all.
5The sons of Perez:
Hezron and Hamul.
6The sons of Zerah:
Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda2:6 Many Hebrew manuscripts, some Septuagint manuscripts and Syriac (see also 1 Kings 4:31); most Hebrew manuscripts Dara—five in all.
7The son of Karmi:
Achar,2:7 Achar means trouble; Achar is called Achan in Joshua. who brought trouble on Israel by violating the ban on taking devoted things.2:7 The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable giving over of things or persons to the Lord, often by totally destroying them.
8The son of Ethan:
Azariah.
9The sons born to Hezron were:
Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.2:9 Hebrew Kelubai, a variant of Caleb
From Ram Son of Hezron
10Ram was the father of
Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, the leader of the people of Judah. 11Nahshon was the father of Salmon,2:11 Septuagint (see also Ruth 4:21); Hebrew Salma Salmon the father of Boaz, 12Boaz the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse.
13Jesse was the father of
Eliab his firstborn; the second son was Abinadab, the third Shimea, 14the fourth Nethanel, the fifth Raddai, 15the sixth Ozem and the seventh David. 16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s three sons were Abishai, Joab and Asahel. 17Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
Caleb Son of Hezron
18Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah (and by Jerioth). These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab and Ardon. 19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. 20Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri the father of Bezalel.
21Later, Hezron, when he was sixty years old, married the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead. He made love to her, and she bore him Segub. 22Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in Gilead. 23(But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair,2:23 Or captured the settlements of Jair as well as Kenath with its surrounding settlements—sixty towns.) All these were descendants of Makir the father of Gilead.
24After Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah, Abijah the wife of Hezron bore him Ashhur the father2:24 Father may mean civic leader or military leader; also in verses 42, 45, 49-52 and possibly elsewhere. of Tekoa.
Jerahmeel Son of Hezron
25The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron:
Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem and2:25 Or Oren and Ozem, by Ahijah. 26Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
27The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel:
Maaz, Jamin and Eker.
28The sons of Onam:
Shammai and Jada.
The sons of Shammai:
Nadab and Abishur.
29Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, who bore him Ahban and Molid.
30The sons of Nadab:
Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children.
31The son of Appaim:
Ishi, who was the father of Sheshan.
Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother:
Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children.
33The sons of Jonathan:
Peleth and Zaza.
These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
34Sheshan had no sons—only daughters.
He had an Egyptian servant named Jarha. 35Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore him Attai.
36Attai was the father of Nathan,
Nathan the father of Zabad,
37Zabad the father of Ephlal,
Ephlal the father of Obed,
38Obed the father of Jehu,
Jehu the father of Azariah,
39Azariah the father of Helez,
Helez the father of Eleasah,
40Eleasah the father of Sismai,
Sismai the father of Shallum,
41Shallum the father of Jekamiah,
and Jekamiah the father of Elishama.
The Clans of Caleb
42The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel:
Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and his son Mareshah,2:42 The meaning of the Hebrew for this phrase is uncertain. who was the father of Hebron.
43The sons of Hebron:
Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema. 44Shema was the father of Raham, and Raham the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai. 45The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth Zur.
46Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
47The sons of Jahdai:
Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph.
48Caleb’s concubine Maakah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah. 49She also gave birth to Shaaph the father of Madmannah and to Sheva the father of Makbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Aksah. 50These were the descendants of Caleb.
The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah:
Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim, 51Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gader.
52The descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim were:
Haroeh, half the Manahathites, 53and the clans of Kiriath Jearim: the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.
54The descendants of Salma:
Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth Beth Joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites, 55and the clans of scribes2:55 Or of the Sopherites who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, Shimeathites and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the Rekabites.2:55 Or father of Beth Rekab
نسل یهودا
1-2پسران یعقوب معروف به اسرائیل اینها بودند:
رئوبین، شمعون، لاوی، یهودا،
یساکار، زبولون، دان، یوسف،
بنیامین، نفتالی، جاد و اشیر.
3یهودا از زن کنعانی خود، بتشوع، سه پسر داشت به نامهای:
عیر، اونان و شیله.
ولی عیر، پسر ارشد او، شرور بود و خداوند او را کشت.
4بعد تامار، زن بیوهٔ عیر که عروس یهودا بود از خود یهودا2:4 نگاه کنید به پیدایش ۳۸. حامله شد و دو پسر دوقلو به نامهای فارص و زارح زایید.
یهودا جمعاً پنج پسر داشت.
5پسران فارص:
حصرون و حامول.
6پسران زارح:
زمری، ایتان، هیمان، کلکول و دارع.
7(عخان2:7 در متن اصلی به جای عخان، «عخار» آمده است که به معنی «فاجعه» می‌باشد. نگاه کنید به یوشع ۷:۱. پسر کرمی، که با برداشتن مال حرام به خدا خیانت کرد و در قوم اسرائیل فاجعه به بار آورد نیز از نسل زارح بود.)
8عزریا پسر ایتان بود.
خاندان داوود پادشاه
9یرحم‌ئیل، رام و کلوبای پسران حصرون بودند.
10رام پدر عمیناداب، و عمیناداب پدر نحشون (نحشون رهبر قبیلهٔ یهودا بود)،
11نحشون پدر سلما، سلمون پدر بوعز،
12بوعز پدر عوبید، و عوبید پدر یَسا بود.
13-15پسران یَسا به ترتیب سن اینها بودند:
الیاب، ابیناداب، شمعا،
نتن‌ئیل، ردای، اوصم
و داوود.
16یَسا دو دختر به نامهای صرویه و ابیجایل نیز داشت.
پسران صرویه، ابیشای، یوآب و عسائیل بودند.
17ابیجایل که شوهرش یتر اسماعیلی بود، پسری داشت به نام عماسا.
نسل حصرون
18کالیب (پسر حصرون) دو زن به نامهای عزوبه و یریعوت داشت. اینها فرزندان عزوبه بودند:
یاشر، شوباب و اردون.
19پس از مرگ عزوبه، کالیب با افرات ازدواج کرد و از این زن صاحب پسری شد به نام حور.
20اوری پسر حور، و بِصَلئیل پسر اوری بود.
21حصرون در سن شصت سالگی با دختر ماخیر ازدواج کرد و از او هم صاحب پسری شد به نام سجوب (ماخیر پدر جلعاد بود).
22سجوب پدر یائیر بود. یائیر بر بیست و سه شهر در سرزمین جلعاد حکمرانی می‌کرد.
23ولی قوای جشور و ارام، شهرهای یائیر2:23 عبری: حَووت‌یائیر. و شهر قناط را همراه با شصت روستای اطراف آن به زور از او گرفتند.
ساکنان این شهرها و روستاها از نسل ماخیر (پدر جلعاد) بودند.
24کالیب بعد از مرگ پدرش حصرون، با افراته، زن پدر خود ازدواج کرد. افراته از کالیب صاحب پسری شد به اسم اشحور و اشحور هم پدر تقوع بود.
نسل یرحم‌ئیل
25اینها پسران (پسر ارشد حصرون) بودند:
رام (پسر بزرگ)، بونه، اورن، اوصم و اخیا. 26عطاره زن دوم یرحم‌ئیل، مادر اونام بود.
27پسران رام پسر ارشد یرحم‌ئیل:
معص، یامین و عاقر.
28پسران اونام، شمای و یاداع بودند.
پسران شمای، ناداب و ابیشور بودند. 29پسران ابیشور، احبان و مولید از زن او ابیحایل بودند.
30و پسران ناداب سلد و افایم بودند. سلد بی‌اولاد از دنیا رفت،
31ولی افایم پسری به نام یشعی داشت.
یشعی پدر شیشان و شیشان پدر احلای بود.
32یاداع برادر شمای دو پسر داشت به نامهای یتر و یوناتان. یتر بی‌اولاد از دنیا رفت،
33ولی یوناتان دو پسر به اسم فالت و زازا داشت.
اینها نوادگان یرحم‌ئیل بودند.
34-35شیشان پسری نداشت، ولی چندین دختر داشت.
او یکی از دخترانش را به عقد یرحاع، غلام مصری خود درآورد. آنها صاحب پسری شدند و نامش را عتای گذاشتند.
36ناتان پسر عتای، زاباد پسر ناتان،
37افلال پسر زاباد، عوبید پسر افلال.
38ییهو پسر عوبید، عزریا پسر ییهو،
39حالص پسر عزریا، العاسه پسر حالص،
40سسمای پسر العاسه، شلوم پسر سسمای،
41یقمیا پسر شلوم، الیشمع پسر یقمیا بود.
نسل دیگر کالیب
42پسر ارشد کالیب (برادر یرحم‌ئیل) میشاع نام داشت.
میشاع پدر زیف، زیف پدر ماریشه، ماریشه پدر حبرون بود.
43پسران حبرون عبارت بودند از:
قورح، تفوح، راقم و شامع.
44شامع پدر راحم بود و راحم پدر یرقعام.
راقم پدر شمای بود.
45ماعون پسر شمای بود و پدر بیت‌صور.
46عیفه، کنیز کالیب، حاران و موصا و جازیز را زایید.
حاران هم پسری داشت به نام جازیز.
47مردی به نام یهدای شش پسر داشت به اسامی:
راجم، یوتام، جیشان، فالت، عیفه و شاعف.
48-49معکه یکی دیگر از کنیزان کالیب شش پسر به دنیا آورد به اسامی:
شابر، ترحنه،
شاعف (پدر مدمنه)
و شوا (پدر مکبینا و جبعا).
کالیب دختری نیز داشت که نامش عکسه بود.
50اینها نوادگان کالیب بودند.
پسران حور (پسر ارشد کالیب و افراته) اینها بودند:
شوبال (بانی قریه یعاریم)، 51سلما (بانی بیت‌لحم) و حاریف (بانی بیت‌جادر).
52شوبال، بانی قریه یعاریم، جد طایفۀ هراوه که نصف ساکنان منوحوت را تشکیل می‌دادند، بود.
53طایفه‌های قریه یعاریم که از نسل شوبال بودند، عبارت بودند از:
یتری، فوتی، شوماتی و مشراعی. (صرعاتی‌ها و اِشتائُلیان از نسل مشراعی‌ها بودند.)
54سلما، بانی بیت‌لحم، جد طایفۀ نطوفاتی، عطروت بیت‌یوآب و صرعی (یکی از دو طایفهٔ ساکن مانحت) بود. 55(طایفه‌های نویسندگانی که کتب و مدارک را رونویسی می‌کردند و ساکن یعبیص بودند عبارت بودند از: ترعاتی، شمعاتی و سوکاتی. این طایفه‌ها قینی و از نسل حمت، جد خاندان ریکاب، بودند.)
