1Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah.

The sons of Noah:[a]

Shem, Ham and Japheth.

The Japhethites

The sons[b] of Japheth:

Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.

The sons of Gomer:

Ashkenaz, Riphath[c] and Togarmah.

The sons of Javan:

Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.

The Hamites

The sons of Ham:

Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.

The sons of Cush:

Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah and Sabteka.

The sons of Raamah:

Sheba and Dedan.

10 Cush was the father[d] of

Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on earth.

11 Egypt was the father of

the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 12 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites.

13 Canaan was the father of

Sidon his firstborn,[e] and of the Hittites, 14 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 15 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, 16 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.

The Semites

17 The sons of Shem:

Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

The sons of Aram:[f]

Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek.

18 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah,

and Shelah the father of Eber.

19 Two sons were born to Eber:

One was named Peleg,[g] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

20 Joktan was the father of

Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 21 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 22 Obal,[h] Abimael, Sheba, 23 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.

24 Shem, Arphaxad,[i] Shelah,

25 Eber, Peleg, Reu,

26 Serug, Nahor, Terah

27 and Abram (that is, Abraham).

The Family of Abraham

28 The sons of Abraham:

Isaac and Ishmael.

Descendants of Hagar

29 These were their descendants:

Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, 31 Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. These were the sons of Ishmael.

Descendants of Keturah

32 The sons born to Keturah, Abraham’s concubine:

Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.

The sons of Jokshan:

Sheba and Dedan.

33 The sons of Midian:

Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah.

All these were descendants of Keturah.

Descendants of Sarah

34 Abraham was the father of Isaac.

The sons of Isaac:

Esau and Israel.

Esau’s Sons

35 The sons of Esau:

Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam and Korah.

36 The sons of Eliphaz:

Teman, Omar, Zepho,[j] Gatam and Kenaz;

by Timna: Amalek.[k]

37 The sons of Reuel:

Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.

The People of Seir in Edom

38 The sons of Seir:

Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.

39 The sons of Lotan:

Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.

40 The sons of Shobal:

Alvan,[l] Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

The sons of Zibeon:

Aiah and Anah.

41 The son of Anah:

Dishon.

The sons of Dishon:

Hemdan,[m] Eshban, Ithran and Keran.

42 The sons of Ezer:

Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.[n]

The sons of Dishan[o]:

Uz and Aran.

The Rulers of Edom

43 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:

Bela son of Beor, whose city was named Dinhabah.

44 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.

45 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.

46 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.

47 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.

48 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river[p] succeeded him as king.

49 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.

50 When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau,[q] and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. 51 Hadad also died.

The chiefs of Edom were:

Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 52 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 53 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 54 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.

Jafet

(1 Mos 10:2-4)

5Jafets söner var Gomer, Magog, Madaj, Javan, Tuval, Meshek och Tiras.

6Gomers söner var Ashkenas, Rifat och Togarma.

7Javans söner var Elisha och Tarshish, kittéerna och rodanéerna.

Ham

(1 Mos 10:6-20)

8Hams söner var Kush, Misrajim, Put och Kanaan.

9Kushs söner var Seba, Havila, Savta, Ragma och Savteka.

Ragmas söner var Saba och Dedan.

10Från Kush härstammade också Nimrod, den förste härskaren på jorden.

11Misrajim var stamfar till ludéerna, anaméerna, lehavéerna, naftuchéerna, 12patruséerna, kasluchéerna, som filistéerna härstammar från, och kaftoréerna.

13Kanaan var far till Sidon, som var hans förstfödde. Han var också stamfar till Het, 14till jevuséerna, amoréerna, girgashéerna, 15hivéerna, arkéerna, sinéerna, 16arvadéerna, semaréerna och hamatéerna.

Sem

(1 Mos 10:21-29; 11:10-26)

17Sems söner var Elam, Assur, Arpakshad, Lud och Aram.

Arams söner var Us, Hul, Geter och Mash.

18Arpakshad var far till Shelach, och Shelach var far till Ever.

19Ever fick två söner, den ene hette Peleg[b] och den andre Joktan. På Pelegs tid delades jorden. Hans bror hette Joktan.

20Joktan var far till Almodad, Shelef, Hasarmavet, Jerach, 21Hadoram, Usal, Dikla, 22Eval, Avimael, Saba, 23Ofir, Havila och Jovav. Alla dessa var Joktans söner.

24Sem, Arpakshad och Shelach,

25Ever, Peleg, Regu,

26Serug, Nachor, Terach,

27Abram, dvs. Abraham.

Abraham

28Abrahams söner var Isak och Ismael.

Ismael

Ismaels förstfödde var Nevajot, sedan Kedar, Adbeel, Mivsam,

30Mishma, Duma, Massa, Hadad, Tema,

(1 Mos 25:1-4)

32Sönerna som Abrahams bihustru Ketura födde var Simran, Jokshan, Medan, Midjan, Jishbak och Shuach.

Jokshans söner var Saba och Dedan.

33Midjans söner var Efa, Efer, Henok, Avida och Eldaga.

Dessa var alltså ättlingar till Ketura.

Isak

34Abraham var far till Isak.

Isaks söner var Esau och Israel.

Esau

(1 Mos 36:10-14)

35Esaus söner var Elifas, Reguel, Jeush, Jalam och Korach.

36Elifas söner var Teman, Omar, Sefi, Gatam, Kenas, Timna och Amalek.

37Reguels söner var Nachat, Serach, Shamma och Missa.

Seirs söner

(1 Mos 36:20-28)

38Seirs söner var Lotan, Shoval, Sivon, Ana, Dishon, Eser och Dishan.

39Lotans söner var Hori och Homam. Timna var syster till Lotan.

40Shovals söner var Aljan, Manachat, Eval, Shefi och Onam.

Sivons söner var Aja och Ana.

41Ana hade en son, Dishon.

Dishons söner var Hamran, Eshban, Jitran och Keran.

42Esers söner var Bilhan, Saavan och Jakan.

Dishons söner var Us och Aran.

43Detta är de kungar, som härskade i Edom innan Israel hade någon kung:

Bela, Beors son, och namnet på hans stad var Dinhava.

44När Bela dog blev Jovav, Serachs son, från Bosra, kung efter honom.

45När Jovav dog blev Husham från temanéernas land kung efter honom.

46När Husham dog blev Bedads son Hadad kung. Han besegrade midjaniterna i Moab, och han regerade från Avit.

47När Hadad dog besteg Samla från Masreka tronen.

48När sedan Samla dog, blev Saul från Rechovot vid floden kung efter honom.

49När Saul dog, blev Akbors son Baal Hanan kung.

50När Baal Hanan dog, blev Hadad kung efter honom. Han regerade från Pagi. Hans hustru hette Mehetavel och var dotter till Matred, som var dotter till Me Sahav.

51Efter Hadads död var dessa män Edoms stamfurstar:

Furstarna Timna, Alva, Jetet, 52Oholivama, Ela, Pinon, 53Kenas, Teman, Mivsar, 54Magdiel och Iram. Dessa var Edoms stamfurstar.
