The Priests Begin Their Ministry
1On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. 2He said to Aaron, “Take a bull calf for your sin offering9:2 Or purification offering; here and throughout this chapter and a ram for your burnt offering, both without defect, and present them before the Lord. 3Then say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb—both a year old and without defect—for a burnt offering, 4and an ox9:4 The Hebrew word can refer to either male or female; also in verses 18 and 19. and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the Lord, together with a grain offering mixed with olive oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.’ ”
5They took the things Moses commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the entire assembly came near and stood before the Lord. 6Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.”
7Moses said to Aaron, “Come to the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering and make atonement for yourself and the people; sacrifice the offering that is for the people and make atonement for them, as the Lord has commanded.”
8So Aaron came to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself. 9His sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger into the blood and put it on the horns of the altar; the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar. 10On the altar he burned the fat, the kidneys and the long lobe of the liver from the sin offering, as the Lord commanded Moses; 11the flesh and the hide he burned up outside the camp.
12Then he slaughtered the burnt offering. His sons handed him the blood, and he splashed it against the sides of the altar. 13They handed him the burnt offering piece by piece, including the head, and he burned them on the altar. 14He washed the internal organs and the legs and burned them on top of the burnt offering on the altar.
15Aaron then brought the offering that was for the people. He took the goat for the people’s sin offering and slaughtered it and offered it for a sin offering as he did with the first one.
16He brought the burnt offering and offered it in the prescribed way. 17He also brought the grain offering, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning’s burnt offering.
18He slaughtered the ox and the ram as the fellowship offering for the people. His sons handed him the blood, and he splashed it against the sides of the altar. 19But the fat portions of the ox and the ram—the fat tail, the layer of fat, the kidneys and the long lobe of the liver— 20these they laid on the breasts, and then Aaron burned the fat on the altar. 21Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh before the Lord as a wave offering, as Moses commanded.
22Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down.
23Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.

1Al octavo día Moisés llamó a Aarón, a sus hijos y a los jefes de Israel. 2A Aarón le dijo: «Toma un ternero para el sacrificio de perdón de pecados y un carnero para el holocausto, ambos sin defecto, y preséntaselos al Señor. 3Diles después a los israelitas: “Traigan un macho cabrío para el sacrificio por el perdón, un becerro y un cordero para el holocausto, ambos de un año y sin defecto. 4Traigan también un toro y un carnero para ofrecérselos al Señor como sacrificio de comunión; y traigan una ofrenda de cereal amasada con aceite. El Señor se manifestará hoy ante ustedes”».
5Los israelitas llevaron hasta la Tienda de reunión lo que Moisés había mandado; y toda la comunidad se acercó y se quedó de pie ante el Señor. 6Entonces Moisés dijo: «Esto es lo que el Señor les manda hacer, para que la gloria del Señor se manifieste ante ustedes».
7Después Moisés dijo a Aarón: «Acércate al altar y ofrece tu sacrificio por el perdón y tu holocausto. Pide así perdón por ti y por el pueblo. Presenta la ofrenda por el pueblo y pide perdón por ellos, tal como el Señor lo ha mandado».
8Aarón se acercó al altar y degolló el becerro como sacrificio para el perdón por sí mismo. 9Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre, él mojó el dedo en la sangre y la untó en los cuernos del altar; luego derramó sangre al pie del altar. 10Luego quemó en el altar la grasa, los riñones y el lóbulo del hígado de la ofrenda por el pecado, tal como el Señor se lo había mandado a Moisés. 11La carne y la piel las quemó fuera del campamento.
12Después Aarón degolló la víctima del holocausto. Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre y él la derramó alrededor del altar. 13También le fueron pasando los trozos del animal y la cabeza, y él lo quemó todo en el altar. 14Lavó los intestinos y las patas, y luego quemó todo esto en el altar, junto con el holocausto.
15Entonces Aarón presentó la ofrenda del pueblo, es decir, el macho cabrío del sacrificio por el perdón. Lo tomó y lo degolló, ofreciéndolo como sacrificio para obtener el perdón, como hizo con el primero.
16Luego presentó la víctima del holocausto, la cual sacrificó tal como fue ordenado. 17También presentó la ofrenda de cereal; luego tomó un puñado y lo quemó en el altar, además del holocausto de la mañana.
18Después degolló el toro y el carnero como sacrificio de comunión por el pueblo. Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre y él la derramó alrededor del altar. 19Pero tomó la grasa del toro y del carnero —la cola, el sebo que recubre los intestinos, los riñones y el lóbulo del hígado— 20y puso todo sobre el pecho de las víctimas para quemarlo en el altar. 21Aarón meció ante el Señor el pecho y el muslo derecho de las víctimas. Fue una ofrenda mecida, tal como Moisés se lo había mandado.
22Aarón levantó las manos hacia el pueblo y los bendijo. Una vez que terminó de ofrecer el sacrificio por el perdón, el holocausto y el sacrificio de comunión, se retiró del altar.
23Moisés y Aarón entraron en la Tienda de reunión. Al salir, bendijeron al pueblo y la gloria del Señor se manifestó a todo el pueblo. 24De la presencia del Señor salió un fuego que consumió el holocausto y la grasa que estaban sobre el altar. Al ver esto, todo el pueblo prorrumpió en gritos de júbilo y cayó rostro en tierra.
