1The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”
5And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
6Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. 10And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.
11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.
13On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. 14They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. 15Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. 16The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.
17For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 20The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.7:20 That is, about 23 feet or about 6.8 meters7:20 Or rose more than fifteen cubits, and the mountains were covered 21Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
24The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
1El Señor dijo a Noé: «Entra en el arca con toda tu familia porque tú eres el único hombre justo que he encontrado de esta generación. 2De todos los animales puros, lleva siete machos y siete hembras; pero de los impuros, solo un macho y una hembra. 3Lleva también siete machos y siete hembras de las aves del cielo, para conservar su especie sobre la tierra. 4Porque dentro de siete días haré que llueva sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, y así borraré de la superficie de la tierra a todo ser viviente que hice».
5Noé hizo todo de acuerdo con lo que el Señor había mandado.
6Tenía Noé seiscientos años cuando las aguas del diluvio inundaron la tierra. 7Entonces, para salvarse de las aguas del diluvio, entró en el arca junto con sus hijos, su esposa y sus nueras. 8De los animales puros e impuros, de las aves y de todos los seres que se arrastran por el suelo, 9entraron con Noé por parejas, el macho y su hembra, tal como Dios se lo había mandado. 10Al cabo de los siete días, las aguas del diluvio comenzaron a caer sobre la tierra.
11Cuando Noé tenía seiscientos años, precisamente en el día diecisiete del mes segundo, se reventaron las fuentes del mar profundo y se abrieron las compuertas del cielo. 12Cuarenta días y cuarenta noches llovió sobre la tierra.
13Ese mismo día entraron en el arca Noé, sus hijos Sem, Cam y Jafet, su esposa y sus tres nueras. 14Junto con ellos entró toda clase de animales salvajes y domésticos, de animales que se arrastran por el suelo y de aves. 15Así entraron en el arca con Noé parejas de todos los seres vivientes; 16entraron un macho y una hembra de cada especie, tal como Dios se lo había mandado a Noé. Luego el Señor cerró la puerta del arca.
17El diluvio cayó sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días. Cuando crecieron las aguas, elevaron el arca por encima de la tierra. 18Las aguas crecían y aumentaban cada vez más, pero el arca se mantenía a flote sobre ellas. 19Tanto crecieron las aguas, que cubrieron las montañas más altas que hay debajo de los cielos. 20El nivel del agua subió más de quince codos7:20 Es decir, aprox. 7 m. por encima de las montañas. 21Así murió todo ser viviente que se movía sobre la tierra: las aves, los animales salvajes y domésticos, todo tipo de animal que se arrastraba por el suelo y todo ser humano. 22Pereció todo ser que habitaba la tierra seca y tenía aliento de vida. 23Dios borró de la faz de la tierra a todo ser viviente, desde los seres humanos hasta los ganados, los reptiles y las aves del cielo. Todos fueron borrados de la faz de la tierra. Solo quedaron Noé y los que estaban con él en el arca.
24Y la tierra quedó inundada ciento cincuenta días.
