エゼキエルの召命
1その方は私に、「人の子よ、立て。わたしはあなたに語ろう」と言いました。 2その方が語ると、御霊が私の中に入り、私を立たせました。 3「人の子よ、あなたをイスラエルの国、すなわち、わたしに反逆している国に遣わす。彼らも、彼らの先祖も、この時までわたしに罪を犯し続けてきた。 4彼らは恐ろしく強情で頑固者だ。それでもわたしは、神である主のことばを伝えるために、あなたを遣わす。 5彼らは反逆者なのだ。だが忘れてはならない。彼らが聞いても聞かなくても、少なくとも、彼らの間に預言者がいたことだけは知るだろう。
6人の子よ、彼らを恐れるな。どんなに彼らの脅しが激しく、とげとげしくて、さそりのように突き刺してきても、ひるんではならない。険悪な様相であってもたじろぐな。彼らは反逆者なのだから。 7彼らが聞こうが聞くまいが、あなたはわたしの言うことを語れ。もっとも彼らは、骨の髄まで反逆者だから聞かないだろうが……。
8人の子よ、わたしが語ることを聞け。あなたが反逆者になってはならない。口を大きく開けて、わたしが与えるものを食べるがいい。」
9-10そこで私が見ていると、裏表両面に字が書いてある巻物を持つ手が、目の前に差し出されたのです。その方は巻物を広げましたが、そこには警告や悲嘆や、審判の宣告などがびっしり書かれていました。
1And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. 2And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. 3And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.2.3 nation: Heb. nations 4For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.2.4 impudent: Heb. hard of face 5And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
6¶ And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.2.6 briers…: or, rebels 7And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.2.7 most…: Heb. rebellion 8But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
9¶ And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; 10And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
