耶和华命令百姓重建圣殿
1大流士王执政第二年六月一日，耶和华借着先知哈该对撒拉铁的儿子犹大省长所罗巴伯和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚说：
2“万军之耶和华说，‘这些百姓说，重建耶和华殿的时候还没到。’” 3因此，耶和华对先知哈该说： 4“这殿还是一片废墟，你们却住在华丽的房子里。 5万军之耶和华说，你们要认真反省自己的行为。 6你们种多收少，吃不饱，喝不足，穿不暖，挣来的工钱却放在漏口袋中。”
7万军之耶和华说：“你们要认真反省自己的行为。 8你们要上山伐木，重建这殿，好让我欢喜并得到尊崇。这是耶和华说的。 9你们盼望丰收，结果收的很少；你们把收成带回家，我却把它们吹走。这是什么缘故？万军之耶和华告诉你们，‘因为你们都忙于建自家的房子，任由我的殿一片废墟。 10所以，天不降雨露，地无出产。 11我让旱灾临到大地、群山、五谷、葡萄、橄榄等地里的出产以及人畜，使你们一切的劳碌付诸东流。’”
12撒拉铁的儿子犹大省长所罗巴伯、约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚和所有的余民1:12 “余民”指“从流亡之地归回的人”。听到他们的上帝耶和华借先知哈该所讲的话，都顺服耶和华的话。百姓都敬畏耶和华。 13耶和华的使者哈该向百姓传达耶和华的话，说：“耶和华说，‘我与你们同在。’” 14耶和华感动撒拉铁的儿子犹大省长所罗巴伯、约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚和所有的余民，他们就动工建造他们的上帝万军之耶和华的殿， 15时值大流士王执政第二年六月二十四日。

7¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.1.7 Consider…: Heb. Set your heart on your ways 8Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. 9Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.1.9 blow…: or, blow it away 10Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. 11And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12¶ Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. 13Then spake Haggai the LORD’s messenger in the LORD’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD. 14And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, 15In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
