Numero 31:1-54

Ang Panimalos sa mga Israelinhon sa mga Midianhon

1Miingon ang Ginoo kang Moises, 2“Panimasli ang mga Midianhon sa gibuhat niini ngadto sa mga Israelinhon. Ug pagkahuman niana, mamatay ka na.”

3Busa giingnan ni Moises ang mga tawo, “Paandama ang uban kaninyo alang sa pagpakiggira batok sa mga Midianhon, kay ipahamtang sa Ginoo ang iyang panimalos ngadto kanila. 4Pagpadala ug 1,000 ka tawo sa kada tribo ngadto sa gira.”

5Busa 12,000 ka mga tawo gikan sa 12 ka tribo sa Israel ang nangandam alang sa gira. 6Gipadala sila ni Moises sa gira, 1,000 gikan sa kada tribo, nga ginapangulohan ni Finehas nga anak ni Eleazar nga pari. Nagdala si Finehas ug balaan nga mga kagamitan gikan sa templo ug mga trumpeta nga gamiton sa paghatag ug sinyas.

7Nakiggira sila sa mga Midianhon, sumala sa gisugo sa Ginoo kang Moises ug gipamatay nila ang tanang mga lalaki. 8Giapil nila ug pamatay ang lima ka hari sa Midian nga sila si Evi, Rekem, Shur, Hur, ug Reba. Gipatay usab nila si Balaam nga anak ni Beor pinaagi sa espada. 9Gibihag nila ang mga Midianhon nga mga babaye ug mga kabataan, ug gipanguha nila ang tanang mga mananap ug mga kabtangan. 10Gipangsunog nila ang tanang lungsod ug ang tanang kampo sa mga Midianhon. 11Gipangdala nila ang tanan nilang nailog, apil ang mga tawo ug mananap, 12ngadto kang Moises, kang Eleazar nga pari, ug sa katilingban sa Israel didto sa ilang kampo sa kapatagan sa Moab, daplin sa Jordan atbang sa Jerico.

13Gisugat sila ni Moises, ni Eleazar nga pari, ug sa mga pangulo sa katilingban sa Israel didto sa gawas sa kampo. 14Apan nasuko si Moises sa mga opisyal sa mga sundalo nga gikan sa gira. 15Miingon si Moises kanila, “Nganong wala ninyo pamatya ang mga babaye? 16Sila maoy misunod sa tambag ni Balaam ug silay hinungdan nganong gisalikway sa mga Israelinhon ang Ginoo didto sa Peor, ug tungod niini miabot ang katalagman sa katilingban sa Ginoo. 17Busa pamatya ninyo ang tanang mga batan-ong lalaki, ug pamatya ang tanang mga babaye nga nakapakighilawas na. 18Apan ibilin alang kaninyo ang mga batan-ong babaye nga wala pa makaagi ug pagpakighilawas. 19Ang tanan kaninyo nga nakapatay o nakahikap ug patay kinahanglan nga magpabilin sa gawas sa kampo sulod sa pito ka adlaw. Sa ikatulo ug ikapito nga adlaw, kinahanglan manghinlo kamo ug ang inyong mga binihag. 20Hinloi ninyo ang tanan ninyong mga bisti, lakip ang tanan ninyong mga kagamitan nga hinimo sa panit o balhibo sa kanding o sa kahoy.”

21Unya miingon si Eleazar nga pari ngadto sa mga sundalo nga gikan sa gira, “Mao kini ang tulumanon sa kasugoan nga gihatag sa Ginoo kang Moises: 22-23Ang bisan unsa nga butang nga dili masunog sama sa bulawan, pilak, bronsi, puthaw, lata, o tingga kinahanglan inyong ibutang sa kalayo aron kini mahinlo. Pagkahuman, hugasan kini ug tubig sa paghinlo. Ug tanang butang nga masunog kinahanglan hugasan lang sa tubig sa paghinlo. 24Sa ikapito nga adlaw, kinahanglan nga labhan ninyo ang inyong mga bisti, ug unya isipon na kamong hinlo, ug makasulod na kamo sa kampo.”

Ang Pagbahin sa mga Butang nga Inilog

25Miingon ang Ginoo kang Moises, 26“Ihapa ninyo ni Eleazar nga pari ug sa mga pangulo sa mga pamilya sa katilingban ang mga tawo ug mga mananap nga nabihag. 27Bahina ninyo kini sa duha ka bahin: ang usa ka bahin ihatag sa mga sundalo nga nakiggira ug ang laing usa ka bahin ihatag sa tibuok katilingban sa Israel. 28Gikan sa bahin sa mga sundalo paglain ug para sa Ginoo—usa sa kada 500 nga mga binihag, tawo man o baka, asno, karnero o kanding. 29Kuhaa kini ug ihatag kang Eleazar nga pari ingon nga bahin sa Ginoo. 30Gikan sa bahin sa mga Israelinhon, paglain ug usa sa kada 50 ka bihag, tawo man o baka, asno, karnero o kanding, ug uban pang klase sa mananap. Ihatag mo kini sa mga Levita nga maoy responsable sa pag-atiman sa Tolda sa Ginoo.” 31Busa gibuhat ni Moises ug ni Eleazar nga pari ang gisugo sa Ginoo kang Moises.

32-35Mao kini ang gikan sa gira nga nadala sa mga sundalo: 675,000 ka karnero ug kanding, 72,000 ka baka, 61,000 ka asno, ug 32,000 ka babaye nga wala makaagi ug pagpakighilawas. 36-40Mao kini ang katunga nga bahin sa mga sundalo nga nakiggira: 337,500 ka karnero, ug ang 675 niini gihatag alang sa Ginoo; 36,000 ka mga baka, ug ang 72 niini gihatag alang sa Ginoo; 30,500 ka mga asno, ug ang 61 niini gihatag alang sa Ginoo; ug 16,000 ka babaye nga wala makaagi ug pagpakighilawas, ug ang 32 niini gihatag alang sa Ginoo.

41Gihatag ni Moises kang Eleazar nga pari ang bahin sa Ginoo sumala sa gisugo kaniya sa Ginoo. 42-46Mao kini ang bahin sa mga Israelinhon nga gihatag kanila ni Moises, nga katunga sa bahin sa mga sundalo nga nagpakiggira: 337,500 ka karnero, 36,000 ka baka, 30,500 ka asno, ug 16,000 ka babaye nga wala makaagi ug pagpakighilawas. 47Gikan sa bahin sa mga Israelinhon, gikuha ni Moises ang usa sa kada 50 ka tawo o mananap sumala sa gisugo sa Ginoo kaniya. Ug gihatag niya kini sa mga Levita nga maoy responsable sa pag-atiman sa Tolda sa Ginoo.

48Unya miadto kang Moises ang mga opisyal sa mga sundalo 49ug miingon kaniya, “Kami nga imong mga sulugoon, giihap namo ang among mga sakop nga sundalo, ug wala gayoy bisan usa nga nakulang. 50Busa gihalad namo sa Ginoo ang bulawan nga mga butang nga among nakuha sa gira: pulseras sa bukton ug sa kamot, mga singsing, mga ariyos, ug mga kuwintas, aron malukat ang among kinabuhi sa Ginoo.”

51Gidawat ni Moises ug ni Eleazar ang tanang mga bulawan nga alahas. 52Ang gibug-aton sa mga bulawan nga gihalad sa mga opisyal sa mga sundalo ngadto sa Ginoo mikabat ug 200 ka kilo. 53Mitipig usab ang matag sundalo sa mga butang nga ilang nakuha. 54Gidawat ni Moises ug ni Eleazar ang mga bulawan gikan sa mga opisyal ug gidala nila ngadto sa Tolda nga Tagboanan aron hinumdoman sa Ginoo ang mga Israelinhon.

Numbers 31:1-54

Vengeance on the Midianites

1The Lord said to Moses, 2‘Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.’

3So Moses said to the people, ‘Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord’s vengeance on them. 4Send into battle a thousand men from each of the tribes of Israel.’ 5So twelve thousand men armed for battle, a thousand from each tribe, were supplied from the clans of Israel. 6Moses sent them into battle, a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, who took with him articles from the sanctuary and the trumpets for signalling.

7They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man. 8Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba – the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. 9The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. 10They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. 11They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, 12and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan opposite Jericho.

13Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14Moses was angry with the officers of the army – the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds – who returned from the battle.

15‘Have you allowed all the women to live?’ he asked them. 16‘They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

19‘Anyone who has killed someone or touched someone who was killed must stay outside the camp seven days. On the third and seventh days you must purify yourselves and your captives. 20Purify every garment as well as everything made of leather, goat hair or wood.’

21Then Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle, ‘This is what is required by the law that the Lord gave Moses: 22gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, lead 23and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire, and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing. And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water. 24On the seventh day wash your clothes and you will be clean. Then you may come into the camp.’

Dividing the spoils

25The Lord said to Moses, 26‘You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the community are to count all the people and animals that were captured. 27Divide the spoils equally between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community. 28From the soldiers who fought in the battle, set apart as tribute for the Lord one out of every five hundred, whether people, cattle, donkeys or sheep. 29Take this tribute from their half share and give it to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part. 30From the Israelites’ half, select one out of every fifty, whether people, cattle, donkeys, sheep or other animals. Give them to the Levites, who are responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.’ 31So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.

32The plunder remaining from the spoils that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep, 3372,000 cattle, 3461,000 donkeys 35and 32,000 women who had never slept with a man.

36The half share of those who fought in the battle was:

337,500 sheep, 37of which the tribute for the Lord was 675;

3836,000 cattle, of which the tribute for the Lord was 72;

3930,500 donkeys, of which the tribute for the Lord was 61;

4016,000 people, of whom the tribute for the Lord was 32.

41Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part, as the Lord commanded Moses.

42The half belonging to the Israelites, which Moses set apart from that of the fighting men – 43the community’s half – was 337,500 sheep, 4436,000 cattle, 4530,500 donkeys 46and 16,000 people. 47From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.

48Then the officers who were over the units of the army – the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds – went to Moses 49and said to him, ‘Your servants have counted the soldiers under our command, and not one is missing. 50So we have brought as an offering to the Lord the gold articles each of us acquired – armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings and necklaces – to make atonement for ourselves before the Lord.’

51Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted from them the gold – all the handcrafted articles. 52All the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds that Moses and Eleazar presented as a gift to the Lord weighed 16,750 shekels.31:52 That is, about 190 kilograms 53Each soldier had taken plunder for himself. 54Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting as a memorial for the Israelites before the Lord.
