Job
1Then Job replied:
2“How long will you torment me
and crush me with words?
3Ten times now you have reproached me;
shamelessly you attack me.
4If it is true that I have gone astray,
my error remains my concern alone.
5If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me
and use my humiliation against me,
6then know that God has wronged me
and drawn his net around me.
7“Though I cry, ‘Violence!’ I get no response;
though I call for help, there is no justice.
8He has blocked my way so I cannot pass;
he has shrouded my paths in darkness.
9He has stripped me of my honor
and removed the crown from my head.
10He tears me down on every side till I am gone;
he uproots my hope like a tree.
11His anger burns against me;
he counts me among his enemies.
12His troops advance in force;
they build a siege ramp against me
and encamp around my tent.
13“He has alienated my family from me;
my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.
14My relatives have gone away;
my closest friends have forgotten me.
15My guests and my female servants count me a foreigner;
they look on me as on a stranger.
16I summon my servant, but he does not answer,
though I beg him with my own mouth.
17My breath is offensive to my wife;
I am loathsome to my own family.
18Even the little boys scorn me;
when I appear, they ridicule me.
19All my intimate friends detest me;
those I love have turned against me.
20I am nothing but skin and bones;
I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.19:20 Or only by my gums
21“Have pity on me, my friends, have pity,
for the hand of God has struck me.
22Why do you pursue me as God does?
Will you never get enough of my flesh?
23“Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
24that they were inscribed with an iron tool on19:24 Or and lead,
or engraved in rock forever!
25I know that my redeemer19:25 Or vindicator lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.19:25 Or on my grave
26And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet19:26 Or And after I awake, / though this body has been destroyed, / then in19:26 Or destroyed, / apart from my flesh I will see God;
27I myself will see him
with my own eyes—I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
28“If you say, ‘How we will hound him,

29you should fear the sword yourselves;
for wrath will bring punishment by the sword,
and then you will know that there is judgment.19:29 Or sword, / that you may come to know the Almighty”

Обвинение Иова
1Тогда Иов ответил:
2— Долго еще вам мучить меня
и своими словами меня терзать?
3Вот уже десять раз вы меня стыдили.
Вам не стыдно меня оскорблять?
4Если я и впрямь согрешил,
при мне мой грех и останется.
5А если хотите передо мною кичиться,
позором моим меня упрекать,
6то знайте: Бог причинил мне зло
и сеть Свою на меня набросил.
7Я кричу: «Обида!» — но нет ответа;
я зову на помощь, но нет суда.
8Он мой путь заградил — не пройти;
Он покрыл мои тропы мглой.
9Он совлек с меня мою славу,
и с головы моей снял венец.
10Он крушит меня со всех сторон — я ухожу.
Он исторг надежду мою, как дерево.
11Воспылал на меня гнев Его.
Он считает меня врагом.
12Подступают вместе Его полки,
вал осадный против меня возводят,
стан разбивают вокруг моего шатра.
13Он удалил моих братьев от меня;
и близкие люди стали чужими.
14Отвернулись сородичи от меня,
и друзья обо мне забыли.
15Гости мои и мои служанки
считают меня чужаком,
глядят на меня, как на постороннего.
16Я зову слугу, а ответа нет;
устами своими я умолять его должен.
17Опротивело моей жене мое дыхание,
я стал отвратителен моим братьям.
18Даже малые дети меня презирают;
поднимаюсь — они надо мной смеются.
19Близкие друзья гнушаются меня;
те, кого я любил, обратились против меня.
20От меня остались лишь кожа да кости,
я остался лишь с кожей возле зубов19:20 В знач.: «чуть душа держится в теле»..
21Сжальтесь, сжальтесь, друзья мои, надо мной,
ведь меня поразила рука Божья.
22Зачем вы преследуете меня, как Бог,
и не можете плотью моей насытиться?
Искупитель защитит Иова
23О если бы записаны были мои слова,
были бы в свитке начертаны,
24выбиты железным резцом по свинцу,
врезаны в камень навеки!
25Но я знаю: Искупитель19:25 Или: Защитник. мой жив,
и в конце Он встанет над землей19:25 Букв.: над прахом.;
и когда моя кожа с меня спадет,
26я всё же во плоти19:26 Или: без плоти. моей увижу Бога19:25–26 Смысл этого места в евр. тексте неясен.;
27я сам увижу Его и не буду Ему чужим,
своими глазами увижу Его.
Как томится в груди моей сердце!
28Если скажете: «Как нам его преследовать,
раз корень зла находится в нем?» —
29то бойтесь меча,
ведь гнев карает мечом,
чтобы вы познали, что есть суд19:29 Или: что есть Судья..
