กษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์

1อามาซิยาห์โอรสกษัตริย์โยอาชแห่งยูดาห์ขึ้นครองราชย์ตรงกับปีที่สองของรัชกาลกษัตริย์เยโฮอาช โอรสกษัตริย์เยโฮอาหาสแห่งอิสราเอล 2ขณะนั้นทรงมีพระชนมายุ 25 พรรษา พระองค์ทรงครองราชย์อยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม 29 ปี ราชมารดาคือเยโฮอัดดีนจากเยรูซาเล็ม 3อามาซิยาห์ทรงทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายพระเนตรขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า แม้จะไม่เทียบเท่าดาวิดผู้เป็นบรรพบุรุษ พระองค์ทรงดำเนินตามแบบอย่างทั้งสิ้นของโยอาชราชบิดา 4แต่ไม่ได้ทำลายสถานบูชาบนที่สูงทั้งหลาย ประชากรยังคงถวายเครื่องบูชาและเผาเครื่องหอมที่นั่น
5ทันทีที่อามาซิยาห์ทรงกุมอำนาจเหนือราชอาณาจักร ก็ทรงประหารชีวิตข้าราชสำนักที่ปลงพระชนม์พระราชบิดาซึ่งเป็นกษัตริย์ 6แต่ไม่ได้ประหารลูกของเขาตามที่เขียนไว้ในหนังสือบทบัญญัติของโมเสสซึ่งองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสสั่งไว้ว่า “อย่าประหารบิดาเพราะบาปของบุตร หรือประหารบุตรเพราะบาปของบิดา แต่ละคนจะต้องตายเพราะบาปของตนเอง”14:6 ฉธบ.24:16
7อามาซิยาห์คือผู้พิชิตชาวเอโดมหนึ่งหมื่นคนในหุบเขาเกลือ ทรงตีเมืองเสลาได้ และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็นโยกเธเอล ซึ่งยังคงเรียกกันอยู่จนทุกวันนี้
8แล้วอามาซิยาห์ส่งผู้สื่อสารไปถึงเยโฮอาชโอรสของเยโฮอาหาสซึ่งเป็นโอรสกษัตริย์เยฮูแห่งอิสราเอลท้าทายว่า “จงออกมาเผชิญหน้ากัน”
9แต่กษัตริย์เยโฮอาชแห่งอิสราเอลทรงตอบกษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์ว่า “ต้นหนามในเลบานอนส่งข่าวมาถึงต้นสนซีดาร์ในเลบานอนว่า ‘ยกลูกสาวของท่านให้แต่งงานกับลูกชายของข้าพเจ้าเถิด’ แล้วมีสัตว์ป่าตัวหนึ่งในเลบานอนมาเหยียบย่ำต้นหนามนั้นป่นปี้ 10ท่านพิชิตเอโดมได้ก็เลยผยอง ขอเชิญภาคภูมิใจในชัยชนะไปเถิด แต่จงอยู่กับบ้าน! จะแกว่งเท้าหาเสี้ยนไปทำไม ทำไมหาเรื่องให้ตัวท่านเองและยูดาห์ย่อยยับไปด้วย?”
11แต่ว่าอามาซิยาห์ไม่ทรงฟัง กษัตริย์เยโฮอาชแห่งอิสราเอลจึงทรงบุกเข้าโจมตี และมาเผชิญหน้ากับกษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์ที่เบธเชเมชในยูดาห์ 12แล้วยูดาห์ก็ถูกอิสราเอลรุกไล่ ทุกคนพ่ายหนีกลับบ้านของตน 13กษัตริย์เยโฮอาชแห่งอิสราเอลทรงจับกุมกษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์ซึ่งเป็นโอรสของโยอาชผู้เป็นโอรสของอาหัสยาห์ได้ที่เบธเชเมช เยโฮอาชเสด็จเข้ากรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และทรงทลายกำแพงเมืองเยรูซาเล็มตั้งแต่ประตูเอฟราอิมจนถึงประตูมุมเป็นระยะทาง 400 ศอก14:13 คือ ประมาณ 180 เมตร 14เยโฮอาชทรงริบเงินและทองทั้งหมดตลอดจนเครื่องใช้ไม้สอยทุกชิ้นที่พบในพระวิหารขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและในคลังหลวง พร้อมทั้งทรงจับตัวประกันไป แล้วเสด็จกลับสู่สะมาเรีย
15เหตุการณ์ต่างๆ ในรัชกาลเยโฮอาช พระราชกิจ และความสำเร็จทั้งปวง รวมทั้งสงครามกับกษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์ มีบันทึกไว้ในจดหมายเหตุกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลไม่ใช่หรือ? 16เยโฮอาชทรงล่วงลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษและถูกฝังไว้ในสะมาเรียร่วมกับกษัตริย์องค์อื่นๆ ของอิสราเอล แล้วเยโรโบอัมผู้เป็นโอรสขึ้นครองราชย์แทน
17อามาซิยาห์โอรสกษัตริย์โยอาชแห่งยูดาห์มีพระชนม์ยาวนานกว่าเยโฮอาชโอรสกษัตริย์เยโฮอาหาสแห่งอิสราเอลสิบห้าปี 18เหตุการณ์อื่นๆ ในรัชกาลของอามาซิยาห์มีบันทึกในจดหมายเหตุกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ไม่ใช่หรือ?
19มีผู้คิดร้ายหมายปลงพระชนม์อามาซิยาห์ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม พระองค์จึงเสด็จหนีไปยังเมืองลาคีช แต่ผู้คิดร้ายเหล่านั้นส่งคนตามไปปลงพระชนม์พระองค์ที่นั่น 20พระศพถูกนำขึ้นหลังม้ากลับมาและถูกฝังไว้ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มร่วมกับเหล่าบรรพบุรุษในเมืองดาวิด
21แล้วชาวยูดาห์แต่งตั้งอาซาริยาห์14:21 มีอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่าอุสซียาห์ผู้มีพระชนมายุสิบหกพรรษาขึ้นเป็นกษัตริย์แทนอามาซิยาห์ราชบิดา 22พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้บูรณะเมืองเอลัทและยึดคืนมาเป็นของยูดาห์ หลังจากที่อามาซิยาห์ล่วงลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษแล้ว
กษัตริย์เยโรโบอัมที่สองแห่งอิสราเอล
23เยโรโบอัมโอรสกษัตริย์เยโฮอาชแห่งอิสราเอลขึ้นเป็นกษัตริย์ครองกรุงสะมาเรียตรงกับปีที่สิบห้าของรัชกาลกษัตริย์อามาซิยาห์แห่งยูดาห์โอรสของโยอาช พระองค์ทรงครองราชย์อยู่ 41 ปี 24เยโรโบอัมทรงทำสิ่งที่ชั่วในสายพระเนตรขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และไม่ได้เลิกทำบาปของเยโรโบอัมบุตรเนบัทซึ่งชักนำอิสราเอลให้ทำตาม 25ทรงเป็นผู้ยึดเขตแดนจากเลโบฮามัท14:25 หรือทางเข้าสู่ฮามัทจดทะเลแห่งอาราบาห์14:25 คือ ทะเลตาย กลับคืนมาเป็นของอิสราเอล เป็นไปตามพระดำรัสขององค์พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ที่ตรัสผ่านทางผู้เผยพระวจนะโยนาห์บุตรอามิททัยจากกัทเฮเฟอร์
26องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทอดพระเนตรเห็นความทุกข์ลำเค็ญของอิสราเอล ไม่ว่าที่เป็นทาสหรือเป็นไท ไม่มีใครช่วยเหลืออิสราเอล 27และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าไม่ได้ตรัสไว้ว่าจะทรงลบชื่ออิสราเอลออกไปจากแผ่นดินโลก ฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงทรงใช้เยโรโบอัมโอรสของเยโฮอาชมาช่วยเหลืออิสราเอล
28เหตุการณ์อื่นๆ ในรัชกาลของเยโรโบอัม พระราชกิจทั้งปวง และความสำเร็จด้านการทหาร ตลอดจนการกอบกู้เมืองดามัสกัสกับเมืองฮามัทซึ่งเคยเป็นของยูดาห์14:28 หรือเยาดีมีบันทึกไว้ในจดหมายเหตุกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลไม่ใช่หรือ? 29เยโรโบอัมทรงล่วงลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษคือบรรดากษัตริย์อิสราเอล แล้วเศคาริยาห์โอรสขึ้นครองราชย์แทน
1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah. 2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did. 4Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5¶ And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father. 6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin. 7He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.14.7 Selah: or, the rock
8¶ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face. 9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. 10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?14.10 at home: Heb. at thy house 11But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah. 12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.14.12 put…: Heb. smitten 13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits. 14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17¶ And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years. 18And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 19Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there. 20And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21¶ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.14.21 Azariah: also called, Uzziah 22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23¶ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years. 24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. 25He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher. 26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel. 27And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 29And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
