1แม้ข้าพเจ้าพูดภาษาแปลกๆ13:1 หรือภาษาต่างๆได้ทั้งภาษามนุษย์และภาษาทูตสวรรค์ แต่ถ้าปราศจากความรัก ข้าพเจ้าก็เป็นแค่ฆ้องหรือฉิ่งฉาบที่กำลังส่งเสียง 2หากข้าพเจ้ามีของประทานในการเผยพระวจนะ สามารถหยั่งถึงข้อล้ำลึกทั้งปวงและความรู้ทั้งสิ้น และถ้าข้าพเจ้ามีความเชื่อที่เคลื่อนภูเขาได้ แต่ไม่มีความรัก ข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่มีค่าอะไร 3แม้ข้าพเจ้ายกทรัพย์สินทั้งหมดให้คนยากไร้และยอมพลีกายให้เอาไปเผาไฟ13:3 สำเนาต้นฉบับเก่าแก่บางสำเนาว่าและยอมพลีกายเพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะอวดได้ แต่ไม่มีความรัก ก็เปล่าประโยชน์
4ความรักย่อมอดทนนาน ความรักคือความเมตตา ไม่อิจฉา ไม่อวดตัว ไม่หยิ่งผยอง 5ไม่หยาบคาย ไม่เห็นแก่ตัว ไม่ฉุนเฉียว ไม่จดจำความผิด 6ความรักไม่ปีติยินดีในความชั่ว แต่ชื่นชมยินดีในความจริง 7ความรักปกป้องคุ้มครองเสมอ ไว้วางใจเสมอ มีความหวังอยู่เสมอและอดทนบากบั่นอยู่เสมอ
8ความรักไม่มีวันสูญสิ้น แม้การเผยพระวจนะจะเลิกรา การพูดภาษาแปลกๆ จะเงียบหาย ความรู้จะล่วงพ้นไป 9เพราะเรารู้เพียงบางส่วนและเราเผยพระวจนะเพียงบางส่วน 10แต่เมื่อความสมบูรณ์พร้อมมาถึง สิ่งที่ไม่สมบูรณ์ก็จะหมดสิ้นไป 11เมื่อข้าพเจ้ายังเป็นเด็ก ข้าพเจ้าพูดอย่างเด็ก คิดอย่างเด็ก ใช้เหตุผลอย่างเด็ก แต่เมื่อเติบโตเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ข้าพเจ้าก็ทิ้งวิถีทางอย่างเด็กไว้เบื้องหลัง 12เวลานี้เราเห็นแต่เงาสะท้อนเลือนรางเหมือนมองในกระจก แต่เวลานั้นเราจะเห็นกันหน้าต่อหน้า เวลานี้ข้าพเจ้ารู้เพียงบางส่วน แต่เวลานั้นข้าพเจ้าจะรู้แจ้งเหมือนที่ทรงรู้จักข้าพเจ้าอย่างแจ่มแจ้ง
13ฉะนั้นสามสิ่งนี้ยังคงอยู่คือ ความเชื่อ ความหวังใจ และความรัก แต่ความรักยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุด

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
