ข้อกล่าวหาต่ออิสราเอล
1ชนอิสราเอลทั้งหลาย จงฟังพระดำรัสขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงมีข้อกล่าวหา
ต่อเจ้าผู้อาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนนี้ ความว่า
“ในดินแดนนี้ไม่มีความซื่อสัตย์ ไม่มีความรัก
ไม่ยอมรับรู้พระเจ้า
2มีแต่การสาปแช่ง4:2 คือ การกล่าวคำสาปแช่ง การโกหก และการเข่นฆ่า
การลักขโมย และการล่วงประเวณี
พวกเขาละเมิดพันธะผูกพันต่างๆ
และเข่นฆ่ากันครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า
3ด้วยเหตุนี้แผ่นดินจึงโศกเศร้าคร่ำครวญ4:3 หรือแห้งแล้ง
และทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนนี้ก็เสื่อมสูญไป
สัตว์ในท้องทุ่ง นกในอากาศ
และปลาในทะเลกำลังจะตายไป
4“แต่อย่าให้ใครฟ้องร้อง
อย่าให้ใครกล่าวโทษคนอื่น
เพราะประชากรของเจ้า
ก็เป็นเหมือนคนที่ฟ้องร้องกล่าวโทษปุโรหิต
5เจ้าสะดุดล้มทั้งวันทั้งคืน
และบรรดาผู้พยากรณ์ก็สะดุดล้มไปกับเจ้า
ฉะนั้นเราจะทำลายมารดาของเจ้า
6ประชากรของเราถูกทำลายไปเพราะขาดความรู้
“เนื่องจากเจ้าปฏิเสธความรู้
เราจึงไม่ยอมรับว่าพวกเจ้าเป็นปุโรหิตของเรา
เนื่องจากเจ้าเพิกเฉยต่อบทบัญญัติของพระเจ้าของเจ้า
เราจึงเพิกเฉยต่อลูกๆ ของเจ้า
7จำนวนปุโรหิตเพิ่มมากขึ้นเท่าใด
พวกเขาก็ยิ่งทำบาปต่อเรามากขึ้นเท่านั้น
พวกเขาได้แลก4:7 ฉบับ MT. ว่าเราจะแลกองค์ผู้ทรงเกียรติสิริของพวกเขา4:7 สำเนาต้นฉบับภาษาฮีบรูโบราณว่าของเรากับสิ่งที่น่าละอาย

ปล่อยตัวไปกับเหล้าองุ่นทั้งเก่าและใหม่
ซึ่งสิ่งเหล่านี้ได้ริบความเข้าใจไปจากพวกเขา
12ประชากรของเราไปปรึกษารูปเคารพไม้
อาศัยคำตอบจากไม้เสี่ยงโชค
วิญญาณแห่งการเป็นโสเภณีชักนำเขาให้หลงเตลิด
เขาไม่ซื่อสัตย์ต่อพระเจ้าของเขา
13เขาถวายเครื่องบูชาบนยอดเขา
และเผาเครื่องบูชาต่างๆ บนเนินเขา
ใต้ต้นโอ๊ก ต้นปอปลาร์ และต้นเทเลบินธ์
ซึ่งแผ่ร่มเงาเย็นสบาย
ฉะนั้นลูกสาวทั้งหลายของเจ้าก็หันไปเป็นโสเภณี
และลูกสะใภ้ของเจ้าก็คบชู้
14“เราจะไม่ลงโทษลูกสาวของเจ้า
เมื่อพวกเขาหันไปเป็นโสเภณี
หรือลงโทษลูกสะใภ้ของเจ้า
ที่ไปคบชู้
เพราะพวกผู้ชายเองก็ไปคบค้ากับโสเภณี
และทอดตัวให้กับหญิงโสเภณีประจำเทวสถานต่างๆ
ประชาชาติที่ไม่มีความเข้าใจจะถึงแก่ความพินาศ!
15“อิสราเอลเอ๋ย แม้เจ้าจะคบชู้
ก็อย่าให้ยูดาห์ทำผิดไป
“อย่าไปที่กิลกาล
อย่าไปยังเบธอาเวน4:15 แปลว่าบ้านแห่งความชั่วร้าย(แทนที่จะเรียกว่าเบธเอลซึ่งแปลว่าพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า)
และอย่าสาบานโดยกล่าวว่า ‘องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด!’
16ชนอิสราเอลดื้อ
เหมือนวัวสาวที่ดื้อรั้น
แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงเลี้ยงดูเขา
เหมือนลูกแกะในทุ่งหญ้าได้อย่างไร?
17เอฟราอิมไปยึดติดกับรูปเคารพ
จงปล่อยเขาไว้ตามลำพังเถิด!
18แม้เครื่องดื่มของพวกเขาจะหมดไปแล้ว
พวกเขาก็ยังคงทำตัวเป็นโสเภณีต่อไป
บรรดาผู้ปกครองของเขารักใคร่หลงใหลวิถีอันน่าอับอาย
19ลมพายุหมุนจะกวาดซัดพวกเขาไป
และเครื่องบูชาต่างๆ ของพวกเขาจะนำความอัปยศอดสูมาถึงพวกเขา
1Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.4.2 blood: Heb. bloods 3Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. 4Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. 5Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.4.5 destroy: Heb. cut off
6¶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.4.6 destroyed: Heb. cut off 7As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.4.8 set…: Heb. lift up their soul to 9And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.4.9 punish: Heb. visit upon4.9 reward: Heb. cause to return 10For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. 11Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12¶ My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. 13They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. 14I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.4.14 I will not: or, Shall I not4.14 fall: or, be punished
15¶ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth. 16For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place. 17Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. 18Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.4.18 sour: Heb. gone4.18 rulers: Heb. shields 19The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
