1วันหนึ่งขณะพระเยซูทรงยืนอยู่ริมทะเลสาบเยนเนซาเรท5:1 คือทะเลกาลิลีโดยมีประชาชนกำลังรุมล้อมพระองค์เพื่อฟังพระวจนะของพระเจ้า 2พระองค์ทรงเห็นเรือสองลำจอดอยู่ริมน้ำ ส่วนชาวประมงขึ้นจากเรือแล้วกำลังซักอวนอยู่ 3พระองค์จึงเสด็จลงเรือลำหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นเรือของซีโมนและทรงขอให้เขาถอยเรือไปจากฝั่งเล็กน้อย จากนั้นทรงนั่งลงและทรงสอนประชาชนจากบนเรือ
4หลังจากพระองค์ทรงสอนจบ พระองค์ตรัสกับซีโมนว่า “จงถอยออกไปที่น้ำลึก แล้วจงหย่อน5:4 ในภาษากรีกคำกริยาเป็นพหูพจน์อวนลงจับปลา”
5ซีโมนทูลตอบว่า “พระอาจารย์เจ้าข้า พวกข้าพระองค์ตรากตรำมาทั้งคืนแต่จับปลาไม่ได้เลย แต่เพราะพระองค์ทรงสั่งเช่นนั้น ข้าพระองค์ก็จะหย่อนอวนลง”
6เมื่อพวกเขาหย่อนอวนลงก็จับปลาได้มากมายจนอวนของพวกเขาเริ่มจะขาด 7ดังนั้นพวกเขาจึงส่งสัญญาณให้เพื่อนร่วมงานในเรืออีกลำมาสมทบ พวกเขาก็มาช่วยและได้ปลาเต็มเรือทั้งสองลำจนเรือเริ่มจะจม

แล้วพระเยซูตรัสกับซีโมนว่า “อย่ากลัวเลย ตั้งแต่นี้ไปท่านจะเป็นผู้จับคน” 11ดังนั้นพวกเขาจึงลากเรือขึ้นฝั่ง แล้วละทิ้งทุกสิ่งและติดตามพระองค์ไป
คนโรคเรื้อน
(มธ.8:2-4; มก.1:40-44)
12ขณะพระเยซูทรงอยู่ในเมืองแห่งหนึ่ง มีคนเป็นโรคเรื้อน5:12 คำภาษากรีกอาจหมายถึงโรคผิวหนังต่างๆ ไม่จำเป็นต้องหมายถึงโรคเรื้อนเท่านั้นทั้งตัวเดินมาตามทาง เมื่อเขาเห็นพระองค์ เขาก็หมอบซบหน้าลงกับพื้นทูลวิงวอนพระองค์ว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์ทรงรักษาข้าพระองค์ให้หายได้ถ้าพระองค์เต็มใจ”
13พระเยซูทรงยื่นพระหัตถ์แตะต้องเขาและตรัสว่า “เราเต็มใจจะรักษา จงหายโรคเถิด!” ทันใดนั้นโรคเรื้อนที่เขาเป็นอยู่ก็หายไป
14แล้วพระเยซูทรงกำชับเขาว่า “อย่าบอกผู้ใดเลย แต่จงไปแสดงตัวต่อปุโรหิตและถวายเครื่องบูชาสำหรับการที่เจ้าหายจากโรคเรื้อนตามที่โมเสสสั่งไว้ เพื่อเป็นพยานแก่คนทั้งหลายว่าเจ้าหายโรคแล้ว”
15ถึงกระนั้นกิตติศัพท์ของพระองค์กลับเลื่องลือออกไปมากยิ่งขึ้นจนฝูงชนมากมายพากันมาฟังพระองค์และรับการรักษาโรค 16แต่พระเยซูมักจะทรงปลีกตัวไปอยู่ในที่สงบและอธิษฐาน
พระเยซูทรงรักษาคนเป็นอัมพาต
(มธ.9:2-8; มก.2:3-12)
17วันหนึ่งขณะพระองค์ทรงสอนอยู่ พวกฟาริสีกับธรรมจารย์จากทุกหมู่บ้านแถบกาลิลี และจากแคว้นยูเดีย และกรุงเยรูซาเล็มมานั่งอยู่ที่นั่นด้วย ฤทธิ์อำนาจขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าอยู่กับพระองค์เพื่อรักษาผู้ป่วย 18มีผู้หามคนเป็นอัมพาตมาบนที่นอน พยายามจะเข้ามาในบ้านเพื่อวางเขาลงต่อหน้าพระเยซู 19แต่เมื่อหมดช่องทางเพราะคนแน่นมาก พวกเขาจึงขึ้นไปบนหลังคาบ้านแล้วหย่อนที่นอนซึ่งคนเป็นอัมพาตนอนอยู่ผ่านช่องหลังคาลงมากลางฝูงชน ตรงหน้าพระเยซูพอดี
20เมื่อพระเยซูทรงเห็นความเชื่อของพวกเขาก็ตรัสว่า “เพื่อนเอ๋ย บาปของท่านได้รับการอภัยแล้ว”
21พวกฟาริสีกับธรรมาจารย์คิดในใจว่า “คนที่พูดหมิ่นประมาทพระเจ้าคนนี้เป็นใครกัน? นอกจากพระเจ้าแล้วใครจะอภัยบาปได้?”
22พระเยซูทรงทราบว่าพวกเขาคิดอะไรอยู่และตรัสถามพวกเขาว่า “ทำไมพวกท่านจึงคิดในใจเช่นนั้น? 23ที่จะพูดว่า ‘บาปของท่านได้รับการอภัยแล้ว’ กับ ‘จงลุกขึ้นเดินไป’ อย่างไหนจะง่ายกว่ากัน? 24แต่ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้พวกท่านรู้ว่าบุตรมนุษย์มีสิทธิอำนาจในโลกที่จะอภัยบาป” แล้วพระองค์ตรัสกับคนเป็นอัมพาตว่า “เราสั่งเจ้าว่าลุกขึ้น จงแบกที่นอนของเจ้าและกลับบ้านไปเถิด” 25ทันใดนั้นเขาก็ลุกขึ้นต่อหน้าคนทั้งปวงแล้วแบกที่นอนและเดินร้องสรรเสริญพระเจ้ากลับบ้านไป 26ทุกคนพากันตื่นเต้นและสรรเสริญพระเจ้า พวกเขาเกรงกลัวจนกล่าวว่า “วันนี้เราได้เห็นเรื่องเหลือเชื่อ”
ทรงเรียกเลวี
(มธ.9:9-13; มก.2:14-17)
27จากนั้นพระเยซูเสด็จออกไปและทรงเห็นคนเก็บภาษีชื่อเลวีนั่งอยู่ที่ด่านเก็บภาษี พระองค์จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า “จงตามเรามา” 28เลวีก็ลุกขึ้นและละทิ้งทุกสิ่งแล้วติดตามพระองค์ไป
29แล้วเลวีก็จัดงานเลี้ยงใหญ่ถวายพระเยซูที่บ้านของเขา มีคนเก็บภาษีกลุ่มใหญ่และคนอื่นๆ มาร่วมรับประทานอาหารกับพวกเขา 30ฝ่ายพวกฟาริสีกับธรรมาจารย์ของพวกเขาบ่นติเตียนกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า “ทำไมท่านจึงกินและดื่มกับคนเก็บภาษีและ ‘คนบาป’?”
31พระเยซูตรัสตอบพวกเขาว่า “คนสุขภาพดีไม่ต้องการหมอ แต่คนป่วยต้องการ 32เราไม่ได้มาเพื่อเรียกคนชอบธรรม แต่มาเพื่อเรียกคนบาปให้กลับใจใหม่”
ถามพระเยซูเรื่องการถืออดอาหาร
(มธ.9:14-17; มก.2:18-22)
33พวกเขาทูลพระองค์ว่า “ศิษย์ของยอห์นมักถืออดอาหารและอธิษฐานอยู่เสมอ ศิษย์ของพวกฟาริสีก็เช่นกัน แต่ศิษย์ของท่านทั้งกินทั้งดื่ม”
34พระเยซูทรงตอบว่า “ท่านจะให้แขกของเจ้าบ่าวอดอาหารขณะเจ้าบ่าวอยู่ด้วยได้หรือ? 35แต่สักวันหนึ่งเจ้าบ่าวจะถูกนำตัวไปจากเขาและในวันนั้นพวกเขาจะอดอาหาร”
36พระองค์ตรัสคำอุปมานี้ให้เขาฟังว่า “ไม่มีใครฉีกผ้าจากเสื้อใหม่ไปปะเสื้อเก่า ถ้าทำเช่นนั้นเขาจะทำให้เสื้อใหม่ฉีกขาด ทั้งเศษผ้าใหม่ก็เข้ากับเสื้อเก่าไม่ได้ 37และไม่มีใครเทเหล้าองุ่นใหม่ใส่ถุงหนังเก่า ถ้าทำเช่นนั้นเหล้าองุ่นใหม่จะทำให้ถุงนั้นปริขาด เหล้าองุ่นจะไหลออกมาและถุงหนังก็จะเสียหาย 38ไม่หรอก เหล้าองุ่นใหม่จะต้องใส่ในถุงหนังใหม่ 39และไม่มีใครดื่มเหล้าองุ่นเก่าแล้วอยากได้เหล้าหมักใหม่เพราะเขากล่าวว่า ‘ของเก่าดีกว่า’ ”
Jesus calls his first disciples
1One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,5:1 That is, Sea of Galilee the people were crowding round him and listening to the word of God. 2He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’
5Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’
6When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, ‘Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!’ 9For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.’ 11So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
Jesus heals a man with leprosy
12While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.5:12 The Greek word traditionally translated leprosy was used for various diseases affecting the skin. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’
13Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ And immediately the leprosy left him.
14Then Jesus ordered him, ‘Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.’
15Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their illnesses. 16But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Jesus forgives and heals a paralysed man
17One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal those who were ill. 18Some men came carrying a paralysed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.’
21The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, ‘Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?’
22Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, ‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23Which is easier: to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk”? 24But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he said to the paralysed man, ‘I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.’ 25Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, ‘We have seen remarkable things today.’
Jesus calls Levi and eats with sinners
27After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. ‘Follow me,’ Jesus said to him, 28and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.
29Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?’
31Jesus answered them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. 32I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’
Jesus questioned about fasting
33They said to him, ‘John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.’
34Jesus answered, ‘Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? 35But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.’
36He told them this parable: ‘No-one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37And no-one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39And no-one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, “The old is better.” ’
