มาลาคี 1:1-14

1พระดำรัสขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าถึงอิสราเอลผ่านทางมาลาคี1:1 แปลว่า ทูตของเรามีดังนี้

ทรงรักยาโคบ แต่ทรงเกลียดชังเอซาว

2องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “เราได้รักเจ้า”

“แต่เจ้าย้อนว่า ‘พระองค์รักเราอย่างไร?’ ”

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “แม้เอซาวจะเป็นพี่ชายของยาโคบ แต่เราก็รักยาโคบ 3ส่วนเอซาวเราชัง และเราได้ทำให้เทือกเขาของเขากลายเป็นที่รกร้าง เราได้ทำให้มรดกตกทอดของเขากลายเป็นถิ่นกันดารให้เหล่าหมาใน”

4เอโดมอาจกล่าวว่า “ถึงเราถูกบดขยี้ แต่เราก็จะสร้างส่วนที่หักพังขึ้นมาใหม่”

แต่พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสว่า “พวกเขาจะสร้างขึ้นก็ได้ แต่เราจะบดขยี้มันลงมาอีก เขาจะได้ชื่อว่า ‘ดินแดนที่ชั่วร้าย’ ชนชาติที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงพระพิโรธอยู่เนืองนิตย์ 5เจ้าจะเห็นกับตาและกล่าวว่า ‘องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงยิ่งใหญ่นัก แม้กระทั่งนอกเขตแดนอิสราเอล!’

เครื่องบูชาที่มีตำหนิ

6“ลูกย่อมให้เกียรติพ่อ บ่าวย่อมให้เกียรตินาย หากเราเป็นพ่อ ไหนล่ะเกียรติที่เราควรจะได้รับ? หากเราเป็นนาย ไหนล่ะความเคารพที่เราควรจะได้รับ?” พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสดังนั้น “ปุโรหิตทั้งหลายเอ๋ย พวกเจ้านี่แหละเหยียดหยามนามของเรา

“พวกเจ้าถามเราว่า ‘ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเหยียดหยามพระนามของพระองค์อย่างไร?’

7“ก็เจ้านำอาหารที่เป็นมลทินมาวางบนแท่นบูชาของเราน่ะสิ

“แต่เจ้าถามว่า ‘พวกข้าพระองค์ได้ทำให้พระองค์เป็นมลทินอย่างไร?’

“ก็โดยกล่าวว่าโต๊ะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้านั้นน่าเหยียดหยาม 8ไม่ผิดหรือที่เจ้านำสัตว์ตาบอดมาถวายบูชา? ไม่ผิดหรือที่เจ้าถวายสัตว์พิการหรือเป็นโรค? ลองถวายให้ผู้ว่าการของเจ้าดูสิ! เขาจะพอใจเจ้าไหม? เขาจะยอมรับเจ้าไหม?” พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสดังนั้น

9“ลองอ้อนวอนพระเจ้าเถิด เผื่อพระองค์จะทรงเมตตาเราทั้งหลาย แต่เจ้าคิดว่าพระองค์จะรับของพวกนั้นที่เจ้านำมาถวายหรือ?” พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสดังนั้น

10พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสว่า “โอ อยากให้พวกเจ้าสักคนปิดประตูวิหารเสีย เพื่อเจ้าจะได้ไม่มาจุดไฟอันเปล่าประโยชน์บนแท่นบูชาของเรา! เราไม่ได้พอใจเจ้าเลย และเราจะไม่รับของถวายใดๆ จากมือของเจ้าด้วย 11นามของเราจะยิ่งใหญ่ท่ามกลางมวลประชาชาติ ตั้งแต่ที่ดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้นจนถึงที่ดวงอาทิตย์ตก เขาจะถวายเครื่องหอมและของถวายบริสุทธิ์แด่นามของเราทุกหนทุกแห่ง เพราะนามของเราจะยิ่งใหญ่ในหมู่ประชาชาติทั้งหลาย” พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสดังนั้น

12“แต่เจ้าลบหลู่นามนั้นโดยกล่าวถึงโต๊ะของพระเจ้าว่า ‘เป็นมลทิน’ และกล่าวถึงอาหารที่ถวายนั้นว่า ‘น่าเหยียดหยาม’ 13และเจ้ากล่าวว่า ‘ภาระน่าเบื่อ!’ แล้วทำเสียงฮึดฮัดอย่างเหยียดหยาม” พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสดังนั้น

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “เมื่อเจ้านำสัตว์บาดเจ็บ พิการ หรือเป็นโรคมาถวายเป็นเครื่องบูชา เราควรจะรับของพวกนั้นจากมือของเจ้าหรือ?” 14พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ตรัสว่า “ขอสาปแช่งคนโกง ผู้สัญญาจะเอาแกะตัวผู้ที่สมบูรณ์แข็งแรงจากฝูงของตนมาถวาย แต่กลับถวายแกะที่มีตำหนิแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ทั้งนี้เพราะเราคือจอมกษัตริย์ และนามของเราก็เป็นที่เกรงขามท่ามกลางนานาประชาชาติ”

Malachi 1:1-14

1A prophecy: the word of the Lord to Israel through Malachi.1:1 Malachi means my messenger.

Israel doubts God’s love

2‘I have loved you,’ says the Lord.

‘But you ask, “How have you loved us?”

‘Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?’ declares the Lord. ‘Yet I have loved Jacob, 3but Esau I have hated, and I have turned his hill country into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.’

4Edom may say, ‘Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins.’

But this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the Lord. 5You will see it with your own eyes and say, “Great is the Lord – even beyond the borders of Israel!”

Breaking covenant through blemished sacrifices

6‘A son honours his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honour due to me? If I am a master, where is the respect due to me?’ says the Lord Almighty.

‘It is you priests who show contempt for my name.

‘But you ask, “How have we shown contempt for your name?”

7‘By offering defiled food on my altar.

‘But you ask, “How have we defiled you?”

‘By saying that the Lord’s table is contemptible. 8When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?’ says the Lord Almighty.

9‘Now plead with God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?’ – says the Lord Almighty.

10‘Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will accept no offering from your hands. 11My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,’ says the Lord Almighty.

12‘But you profane it by saying, “The Lord’s table is defiled,” and, “Its food is contemptible.” 13And you say, “What a burden!” and you sniff at it contemptuously,’ says the Lord Almighty.

‘When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?’ says the Lord. 14‘Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and my name is to be feared among the nations.
