Nagsalita si Job Tungkol sa Karunungan at Pang-unawa
1“May mga minahan kung saan matatagpuan ang pilak at may mga lugar kung saan dinadalisay ang ginto. 2Ang bakal ay nakukuha mula sa lupa, at ang tanso ay tinutunaw mula sa mga bato. 3Gumagamit ng ilaw ang mga tao para madaig nila ang kadiliman sa kanilang paghuhukay sa kailaliman ng lupa. 4Humuhukay sila ng daanan sa minahan, sa dakong walang taong nakatira at dumadaan. Bumababa sila sa pamamagitan ng mga nakalaylay na lubid. 5Sa ibabaw ng lupa tumutubo ang mga tanim kung saan nagmumula ang pagkain, pero sa ilalim ay parang dinaanan ng apoy. 6Ang mga bato roon ay may mga safiro28:6 safiro: Isang uri ng mamahaling bato. at ang mga alikabok ay may ginto. 7Ang mga daan patungo roon ay hindi makita ng mga ibon, kahit ng ibong mandaragit. 8Hindi rin ito nadaanan ng mga mababangis na hayop o ng leon. 9Hinuhukay ng mga tao kahit na ang pinakamatigas na bato sa ilalim ng bundok. 10Hinuhukay nila ang bundok para hanapin ang ibaʼt ibang uri ng mamahaling bato. 11Hinahanap din nila ang mga ito sa mga ilog.
12“Pero saan nga ba matatagpuan ang karunungan at pang-unawa? 13Hindi alam ng tao kung saan ito matatagpuan. Hindi ito matatagpuan dito sa lupa. 14Hindi rin ito matatagpuan sa ilalim ng dagat. 15Hindi rin ito nabibili ng purong ginto o pilak. 16Ang halaga nito ay hindi matutumbasan ng ginto o ng alin mang mamahaling bato gaya ng onix o safiro. 17Higit pa ito sa ginto o kristal. Hindi ito maipagpapalit sa gintong alahas. 18Ang halaga nitoʼy higit pa sa koral, jasper, o rubi. 19Hindi ito mapapantayan ng mamahaling batong topaz na mula sa Etiopia28:19 Etiopia: sa Hebreo, Cush. at hindi rin mababayaran ng purong ginto.
20“Kaya saan matatagpuan ang karunungan at pang-unawa? 21Walang nilalang na makakakita nito kahit na ang mga ibon. 22Kahit na ang lugar ng kapahamakan na siyang lugar ng mga patay, sabi-sabi lang ang kanilang nalaman tungkol dito. 23Dios lang ang nakakaalam kung saan matatagpuan ang karunungan. 24Sapagkat nakikita niya kahit ang pinakamalayong bahagi ng mundo at ang lahat ng nasa ilalim ng langit. 25Noong pinalakas niya ang hangin, at sinukat kung gaano karaming ulan ang dapat bumuhos, 26itinakda na niya kung saan ito papatak, at kung saan tatama ang kulog at kidlat. 27Sa ganito niya ipinakita ang karunungan at kahalagahan ng mga ito. Nasubukan na niya ito at napatunayan. 28Pagkatapos, sinabi niya sa mga tao, ‘Ang pagkatakot sa Panginoon at ang paglayo sa kasamaan ay siyang karunungan at pagkaunawa.’ ”
The Place Where Wisdom Is Found Is Explained
1There are mines where silver is found.
There are places where gold is purified.
2Iron is taken out of the earth.
Copper is melted down from ore.
3Human beings light up the darkness.
They search for ore in the deepest pits.
They look for it in the blackest darkness.
4Far from where people live they cut a tunnel.
They do it in places where other people don’t go.
Far away from people they swing back and forth on ropes.
5Food grows on the surface of the earth.
But far below, the earth is changed as if by fire.
6Lapis lazuli is taken from the rocky earth.
Its dust contains nuggets of gold.
7No bird knows that hidden path.
No falcon’s eye has seen it.
8Proud animals don’t walk on it.
Lions don’t prowl there.
9Human hands attack the hardest rock.
Their strong hands uncover the base of the mountains.
10They tunnel through the rock.
Their eyes see all its treasures.
11They search the places where the rivers begin.
They bring hidden things out into the light.
12But where can wisdom be found?
Where does understanding live?
13No human being understands how much it’s worth.
It can’t be found anywhere in the world.
14The ocean says, “It’s not in me.”
The sea says, “It’s not here either.”
15It can’t be bought with the finest gold.
Its price can’t be weighed out in silver.
16It can’t be bought with gold from Ophir.
It can’t be bought with priceless onyx or lapis lazuli.
17Gold or crystal can’t compare with it.
It can’t be bought with jewels made of gold.
18Don’t bother to talk about coral and jasper.
Wisdom is worth far more than rubies.
19A topaz from Cush can’t compare with it.
It can’t be bought with the purest gold.
20So where does wisdom come from?
Where does understanding live?
21It’s hidden from the eyes of every living thing.
Even the birds in the sky can’t find it.
22Death and the Grave say,
“Only reports about it have reached our ears.”
23But God understands the way to it.
He is the only one who knows where it lives.
24He sees from one end of the earth to the other.
He views everything in the world.
25He made the mighty wind.
He measured out the waters.
26He gave orders for the rain to fall.
He made paths for the thunderstorms.
27Then he looked at wisdom and set its price.
He established it and tested it.
28He said to human beings,
“Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise.
Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding.”
