Salmo 7
Oração de David. Entoada ao Senhor sobre o benjamita Cuxe.
1Senhor, meu Deus, em ti me refugio;
salva-me de todos os que me perseguem e livra-me.
2Não permitas que se lancem sobre mim como leões,
despedaçando-me, sem que ninguém possa livrar-me.
3Seria diferente, Senhor meu Deus,
se eu estivesse a fazer coisas más.
4Se estivesse a pagar com maldade a quem me faz bem,
ou a atacar injustamente aqueles de quem não gosto.
5Então compreenderia que deixasses os meus inimigos perseguir-me,
esmagando-me no chão,
pisando a minha vida no pó da terra! (Pausa)
6Mas, Senhor, levanta-te com cólera,
contra a fúria dos que me oprimem!
Vigia, para aplicares a meu favor a justiça que ordenaste!
7Reúne os povos diante de ti;
senta-te no alto, no teu trono, julgando os seus pecados.
8A mim, justifica-me publicamente,
tornando clara a minha honestidade e inocência.
9Põe fim a toda a maldade dos ímpios,
e abençoa todos os que são verdadeiramente justos.
Pois tu, Deus justo, investigas bem fundo o coração dos homens
e examinas todas as suas intenções e pensamentos.
10Deus é o meu escudo;
ele salva aqueles que têm um coração íntegro.
11Deus é um juiz perfeitamente justo;
os seus severos avisos repetem-se, dia após dia.
12Se o homem não se arrepender, afiará a sua espada;
o seu arco está já retesado e apontado, pronto a disparar.
13Ele o armou com flechas mortais e inflamadas.
14O homem mau concebe uma perversa combinação;
faz nascer aflições e produz mentiras.
15Contudo, virá a cair na funda cova
que ele próprio fez, como armadilha.
16As obras más e a violência que planeou para os outros
recairão sobre si mesmo.
17Eu estou tão grato ao Senhor, porque ele é justo!
Cantarei louvores ao Senhor,
porque o seu nome está acima de tudo e de todos!

1Lord my God, I take refuge in you;
save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
2or they will tear me apart like a lion
and rip me to pieces with no-one to rescue me.
3Lord my God, if I have done this
and there is guilt on my hands –
4if I have repaid my ally with evil
or without cause have robbed my foe –
5then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
let him trample my life to the ground
and make me sleep in the dust.7:5 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here.
6Arise, Lord, in your anger;
rise up against the rage of my enemies.
Awake, my God; decree justice.
7Let the assembled peoples gather round you,
while you sit enthroned over them on high.
8Let the Lord judge the peoples.
Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness,
according to my integrity, O Most High.
9Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
and make the righteous secure –
you, the righteous God
who probes minds and hearts.

who saves the upright in heart.
11God is a righteous judge,
a God who displays his wrath every day.
12If he does not relent,

he will bend and string his bow.
13He has prepared his deadly weapons;
he makes ready his flaming arrows.
14Whoever is pregnant with evil
conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.
15Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out
falls into the pit they have made.
16The trouble they cause recoils on them;
their violence comes down on their own heads.
17I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness;
I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.
