Salmo 33
1Alegrem-se, vocês, os justos no Senhor,
pois aos retos convém que o louvem!
2Toquem melodias de louvor com harpa e com lira.
3Cantem-lhe cantos novos;
executem-nos bem e com alegria.
4Porque a palavra do Senhor é a verdade;
tudo o que ele faz é digno de confiança.
5O Senhor ama a justiça e a retidão;
a Terra está cheia de provas do seu amor.
6Foi pela palavra do Senhor que os céus foram feitos;
todos os astros foram criados pelo sopro que saiu da sua boca.
7Ele reuniu num só lugar as águas dos oceanos,
mantendo as profundezas em reservatórios.
8Que o mundo inteiro e os seus moradores
temam o Senhor e lhe tenham reverência!
9Porque ele falou e tudo se criou;
mandou e logo tudo apareceu.
10O Senhor desfaz os planos das nações;
anula as intenções dos povos.
11Mas o seu plano permanece para sempre;
os seus pensamentos em todas as gerações.
12Feliz é a nação cujo Deus é o Senhor,
cujo povo ele escolheu para si mesmo.
13O Senhor olha desde os céus
e vê toda a humanidade.
14Da sua morada observa toda a gente.
15Foi ele quem fez o coração das pessoas
e examina de perto tudo o que fazem.
16Não há exército, por mais bem armado que esteja,
que possa garantir a salvação de um chefe de estado.
A muita força não livra ninguém.
17Um cavalo de guerra não pode dar a vitória a um indivíduo,
por muito forte que seja.
18Mas os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os que o temem,
sobre os que esperam no seu amor.
19Ele os livrará da morte
e os conservará em tempos de escassez.
20A nossa alma espera pela ajuda do Senhor;
ele é o nosso auxílio e protege-nos como um escudo.
21Não é de admirar que estejamos alegres,
pois confiamos no Senhor
e na força do seu santo nome.
22Sim, Senhor, que o teu amor nos rodeie,
pois esperamos somente em ti!
Psalm 33
1Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2Praise the Lord with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.
4For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
5The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.
6By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7He gathers the waters of the sea into jars33:7 Or sea as into a heap;
he puts the deep into storehouses.
8Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.
9For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
10The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.
13From heaven the Lord looks down
and sees all mankind;
14from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth—
15he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.
16No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
21In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.
