Salmo 132
Cântico de peregrinação.
1Lembra-te, Senhor,
de quando David estava tão aflito.
2Quando te fez aquela solene promessa,
a ti, o Poderoso Senhor de Jacob, dizendo:
3“De maneira nenhuma poderei vir para casa,
descansar e dormir em paz.
4Não fecharei os meus olhos para dormir;
as minhas pálpebras não terão repouso.
5Não, enquanto não construir uma casa
onde o Poderoso Senhor de Jacob seja adorado.”
6A arca santa do Senhor já andou por Efrata
e viemos encontrá-la no campo de Jaar.
7Entremos agora no seu santo templo
e adoremos diante dos seus pés!
8Levanta-te, Senhor, e entra no teu templo,
lugar do teu repouso, juntamente com a arca,
que é a expressão do teu poder.
9Os sacerdotes hão de vestir-se de justiça
e todo o teu povo cantará de alegria.
10Por amor de David, que te serve,
não deixes de responder ao teu ungido!
11O Senhor fez uma promessa a David e não falharia:
“Estabelecerei um dos teus descendentes
e ele se sentará no trono, depois de ti.
12Se os teus descendentes se mantiverem fiéis
à aliança que fiz com o povo de Israel,
e fiéis aos mandamentos que virão a aprender,
também ocuparão o trono de Israel, para sempre.”
13Tu, Senhor, escolheste Sião
para ser o local da tua habitação:
14“É aqui, o lugar do meu descanso para sempre;
este é o meu desejo!
15Tornarei esta cidade próspera;
fartarei de pão os pobres que lá vivam.
16Vestirei de salvação os sacerdotes
e os fiéis exaltarão de júbilo.
17O poder de David aumentará
e prepararei uma lâmpada para o meu ungido.
18Os seus inimigos ficarão cobertos de vergonha.
David será um rei glorioso!”
Psalm 132
A song of ascents.
1Lord, remember David
and all his self-denial.
2He swore an oath to the Lord,
he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3‘I will not enter my house
or go to my bed,
4I will allow no sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5till I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.’
6We heard it in Ephrathah,
we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:132:6 Or heard of it in Ephrathah, / we found it in the fields of Jearim. (See 1 Chron. 13:5,6) (and no quotation marks around verses 7-9)
7‘Let us go to his dwelling-place,
let us worship at his footstool, saying,
8“Arise, Lord, and come to your resting-place,
you and the ark of your might.
9May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
may your faithful people sing for joy.” ’
10For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.
11The Lord swore an oath to David,
a sure oath he will not revoke:
‘One of your own descendants
I will place on your throne.
12If your sons keep my covenant
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons shall sit
on your throne for ever and ever.’
13For the Lord has chosen Zion,
he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
14‘This is my resting-place for ever and ever;
here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
15I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.
16I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her faithful people shall ever sing for joy.
17‘Here I will make a horn132:17 Horn here symbolises strong one, that is, king. grow for David
and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
18I will clothe his enemies with shame,
but his head shall be adorned with a radiant crown.’
