Profecia contra o Egito e Cuche
1No ano em que Sargom, rei da Assíria, enviou o comandante supremo do seu exército contra Asdode, cidade da Filisteia, e a tomou, 2o Senhor disse a Isaías, o filho de Amós, que se despisse, que tirasse os sapatos e andasse assim nu e descalço. Isaías fez como lhe foi ordenado.
3Então o Senhor disse: “O meu servo Isaías, que tem andado despido e descalço nestes últimos três anos, é uma imagem das terríveis calamidades que vou enviar ao Egito e a Cuche. 4Porque o rei da Assíria virá levar os egípcios e os cuchitas como prisioneiros, fazendo-os andar nus e descalços, tanto jovens como velhos; andarão com as nádegas à mostra, para vergonha do Egito. 5Então ficarão aflitos os filisteus que contavam com o poder de Cuche, que descansavam no seu glorioso aliado, o Egito! 6E dirão nessa altura: ‘Se tal pode acontecer até ao Egito, qual não será a nossa sorte!’ ”
A Prophecy Against Egypt and Cush
1In the year that the supreme commander, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it— 2at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, “Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet.” And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot.
3Then the Lord said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush,20:3 That is, the upper Nile region; also in verse 5 4so the king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared—to Egypt’s shame. 5Those who trusted in Cush and boasted in Egypt will be dismayed and put to shame. 6In that day the people who live on this coast will say, ‘See what has happened to those we relied on, those we fled to for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?’ ”
