A parábola da panela
1No dia 10 do décimo mês24.1 Mês de Tebet. Entre a lua nova do mês de dezembro e o mês de janeiro., no nono ano do cativeiro do rei Jeconias, veio até mim outra mensagem do Senhor. 2“Homem mortal, grava a data em que nos encontramos, porque hoje o rei da Babilónia sitiou Jerusalém. 3Agora expõe esta parábola a Israel, esse povo rebelde. Diz-lhes o que o Senhor Deus lhes manda comunicar: Põe uma panela com água no fogo, a ferver. 4Enche-a com pedaços de carne do lombo e da perna; emprega só carne de primeira qualidade. 5Alimenta bem o fogo debaixo da panela e deixa cozer tudo muito bem, até que a carne se desfaça.
6Porque diz o Senhor Deus: Ai de Jerusalém, cidade de assassínios! És como uma panela já corroída pela ferrugem, pelo pecado. Por isso, tira para fora a carne, pedaço a pedaço, à toa; nenhum pedaço é melhor que outro. 7A sua maldade é evidente para toda a gente; sem pejo algum comete assassínios, deixando à vista o sangue das vítimas; nem lhe interessa minimamente fazer desaparecer os vestígios dos seus crimes. 8Por isso, também deixei todas essas marcas à luz do dia, para que fossem como que uma voz a clamar por mim contra ela, reclamando vingança.
9Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Ai de Jerusalém, cidade sanguinária! Hei de atear ao máximo o fogo debaixo dela! 10Amontoa bastante lenha; que o fogo esteja atiçado e a panela bem a ferver. A carne deverá ficar muito bem cozida; depois tira-a da panela e queima os ossos. 11Em seguida, coloca a panela vazia sobre as brasas para queimar a ferrugem e a corrosão; no entanto, isso de nada servirá. 12A ferrugem não desaparece assim, ainda que o fogo esteja a arder na sua máxima força. 13A luxúria e a devassidão fazem parte da vossa impureza! Visto que pretendi purificar-vos, mas recusaram, fiquem então cobertos de imundície, até que a minha ira seja satisfeita, derramando sobre vocês toda a espécie de terrores!
14Eu, o Senhor, o disse e cumprir-se-á: não voltarei atrás; não pouparei ninguém, nem desistirei dos meus intentos. Conforme o vosso comportamento, os vossos atos, assim serão julgados, diz o Senhor Deus.”
A morte da mulher de Ezequiel
15De novo veio a mim a palavra do Senhor: 16“Homem mortal, vou tirar-te a tua mulher, que é o teu encanto. Morrerá de repente, mas não deverás mostrar pesar algum. Não chores; não deixes que te corram as lágrimas. 17Poderás lamentar-te, mas só em silêncio. Não deixes que haja gemidos à beira da sepultura. Não andes de cabeça destapada nem descalço; não aceites ofertas de comida que os amigos te possam trazer em sinal de simpatia.”
18Disse estas palavras de manhã ao povo e pela tarde a minha mulher morreu. Na manhã seguinte, fiz tudo como o Senhor me disse.
19Ouvi o povo que perguntava: “Mas o que é que isto tudo significa? O que pretendes tu dizer-nos com isso?”
20Respondi-lhes: “O Senhor mandou-me 21comunicar ao povo de Israel o seguinte: ‘Destruirei o meu belo e admirável santuário, a força da vossa nação. Os vossos filhos e filhas na Judeia serão mortos à espada. 22Vocês comportar-se-ão então da mesma forma que eu; não cobrirão o vosso rosto em lamentos, nem comerão alimentos que vos sejam trazidos pelos amigos em sinal de simpatia. 23Não poderão andar nem descalços nem de cabeça descoberta. Não gemerão nem chorarão. No entanto, hão de definhar de remorsos pelos vossos pecados, chorando às escondidas por todo o mal que praticaram. 24Ezequiel é um sinal para vocês; hão de fazer o mesmo que ele fez. E quando vier esse tempo, então saberão que eu sou o Senhor Deus.’ ”
25“Homem mortal, no dia em que eu tiver acabado de lhes tirar o templo, que é o seu orgulho, a alegria dos seus corações e glória na Terra, o grande prazer dos seus olhos, o maior desejo do seu coração e a presença feliz dos seus filhos e filhas, 26nesse dia um refugiado de Jerusalém meter-se-á a caminho para vir à Babilónia contar-te o que aconteceu. 27No dia em que chegar, far-se-á ouvir a tua voz e conversarás com ele. Serás assim um símbolo para este povo e saberão que eu sou o Senhor!”
1Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day. 3And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it: 4Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. 5Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.24.5 burn: or, heap
6¶ Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it. 7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; 8That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered. 9Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great. 10Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned. 11Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. 12She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire. 13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee. 14I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
15¶ Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 16Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.24.16 run down: Heb. go 17Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.24.17 Forbear: Heb. 19¶ And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so? 20Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 21Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.24.21 that…: Heb. the pity of your soul 22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men. 23And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another. 24Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 25Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,24.25 that…: Heb. the lifting up of their soul 26That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? 27In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
