As duas irmãs de má conduta
1Veio a mim novamente a palavra do Senhor. 2“Homem mortal, havia duas irmãs, filhas da mesma mãe. 3Em novas tornaram-se prostitutas no Egito e naquelas terras viram seus corpos serem tocados lascivamente; ali os seus seios foram afagados e acariciados pela primeira vez. 4A mais velha chamava-se Oolá e a outra Oolibá. A primeira corresponde a Samaria e a segunda a Jerusalém. Casei com elas e deram-me filhos e filhas.
5Mas depois Oolá voltou-se para a prostituição e deixou-me; deu o seu amor aos soldados e oficiais assírios, seus vizinhos. 6Todos eles eram homens atraentes, jovens comandantes militares e magistrados, que se vestiam de um vistoso azul e pavoneavam nos seus cavalos. 7E assim ela pecou com eles, que eram a fina flor da Assíria, e adorou os seus ídolos; depravou-se inteiramente. 8Porque quando deixou o Egito, não abandonou a sua inclinação para a prostituição, antes se manteve tão licenciosa como em jovem, quando os egípcios a cobriam com toda a sua lascívia e a corrompiam moralmente.
9Por isso, entreguei-a nas mãos dos seus amantes assírios por quem ela tanto ardia de paixão. 10Então despiram-na, mataram-na e levaram-lhe os filhos como escravos. O nome dela ficou conhecido por todas as mulheres da Terra como o de uma pecadora que recebeu a justa recompensa do seu pecado.
11Oolibá, apesar de ter visto o que aconteceu à irmã, continuou a viver da mesmíssima maneira, e até pecou ainda mais do que ela. 12Também aliciou os soldados e oficiais assírios, os tais jovens elegantes, vestidos com primor, oficiais do exército e magistrados nos seus belos uniformes, tudo gente atraente. 13Vi então o caminho que ela seguia, indo precisamente atrás daquilo que fez a irmã perder-se.
14Na verdade, esta foi até mais impudica do que Samaria; chegou a ficar apaixonada por imagens que viu pintadas nas paredes! Pinturas de oficiais do exército caldeu, muito aprumados nos seus uniformes vermelhos; 15apertados nos seus cinturões, cobertos com belos turbantes militares; todos com aparência de príncipes, homens babilónios, nascidos na Caldeia. 16Quando viu aquelas figuras não teve outra ideia senão entregar-se completamente àqueles homens; e assim mandou mensageiros à Caldeia para os convidar a virem ter com ela. 17Os homens vieram e adulteraram com ela na sua cama de amores e contaminaram-na com a sua luxúria. Mas depois disso passou a odiá-los e cortou todas as relações com eles.
18Assim, abandonei-a tal como tinha já abandonado a irmã, por ter andado atrás daquela gente, entregando-se à luxúria. 19Mas parece que isso não a aborreceu; lançou-se em prostituições ainda maiores, como quando era uma jovem prostituta no Egito. 20Encheu-se de desejos por aqueles amantes sensuais, de membros desmesurados como os de jumentos e desenfreados como cavalos. 21E assim comemoraste esses dias passados em que, ainda uma rapariga, deste a tua virgindade a essa gente do Egito.
22Agora o Senhor Deus diz que levantará contra ti, Oolibá,23.22 Isto é, Jerusalém. essas mesmas nações de quem depois te desgostaste e elas te cercarão por todos os lados. 23Na verdade, os babilónios hão de vir, assim como os caldeus de Pecode, Soa, e Coa, e todos os filhos da Assíria com eles, mancebos atraentes de alta estirpe, montados garbosamente nos seus cavalos. 24Virão contra ti do lado do norte com carros de combate e um grande exército, completamente apetrechados para o combate. Cercar-te-ão por todos os lados com os seus soldados e deixarei que façam contigo o que bem entenderem. 25Tens contra ti a minha indignação e tratar-te-ei sem tolerância. Hão de cortar-te o nariz e as orelhas. Os que sobreviverem dessa matança acabarão por morrer com os outros. Os teus filhos serão levados como escravos. Tudo será destruído pelas chamas. 26Despojar-te-ão das tuas belas roupas e joias. 27Porei, enfim, um freio à lascívia e prostituição que trouxeste do Egito; não mais terás saudades do Egito e dos seus deuses.
28Porque o Senhor Deus diz: Certamente te entregarei aos teus inimigos, àqueles que detestavas. 29Tratar-te-ão com raiva, roubar-te-ão tudo o que tens e ficarás sem nada e nua. As vergonhas das tuas prostituições serão do conhecimento de todo o mundo. 30Tudo isto trouxeste tu própria sobre ti, por te teres prostituído com as nações à tua volta, corrompendo-te com todos os seus ídolos. 31Seguiste precisamente as pisadas da tua irmã, por isso, te darei a beber o mesmo cálice de castigo que dei a ela.
32Sim, as tragédias que caíram sobre ela também desabarão sobre ti, e essa taça que ela foi obrigada a beber era funda e estava cheia. O mundo inteiro se rirá de ti por causa dos teus males. 33Cambalearás como se estivesses embriagada sob tremendos golpes de amargura e de espanto, como aconteceu com tua irmã Samaria. 34Numa profunda angústia beberás até à última gota a taça de terror e rasgarás os teus próprios seios. Sou eu próprio quem o anuncia, diz o Senhor Deus!
35Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Visto que se esqueceram de mim e me voltaram as costas, terão de suportar totalmente as consequências do vosso pecado.”
36O Senhor disse-me ainda: “Homem mortal, terás de acusar Oolá e Oolibá de tudo o que de abominável praticaram. 37Cometeram adultérios e assassínios; adoraram ídolos e mataram os filhos que me tinham gerado, sacrificando-os pelo fogo nos seus altares. 38Ao mesmo tempo, profanaram o meu templo e ignoraram os meus sábados. 39Porque quando sacrificavam os seus filhos perante os ídolos, nessas mesmas ocasiões, iam ao meu templo para o profanarem! É esse o respeito que têm por mim!
40Chegaram a mandar emissários para chamar de terras distantes outros homens; eles vieram e foram muito bem recebidos! Para essa ocasião preparaste-te com toda a atenção, desde um banho cuidadoso, passando pelos cosméticos para te realçarem o rosto e os olhos, até às finas joias com que te adornaste. 41Sentaste-te numa cama luxuosa e perfumaste o quarto, pondo do meu incenso e do meu óleo sobre uma mesa.
42Quem estava do lado de fora ouvia sair do teu quarto a barulheira de grande festança; o barulho de gente licenciosa e devassa, que vinha lá do deserto, e que adornava com braceletes os braços das mulheres e colocava belas coroas nas suas cabeças. 43Então disse eu a respeito da que fora completamente destruída pelos adultérios aos quais se entregou, irão eles prostituir-se ainda mais com ela? 44Foram mesmo. Tomaram-nas, a Oolá e Oolibá, essas prostitutas desavergonhadas, com o à-vontade de homens devassos que visitam qualquer mulher infame. 45Pessoas retas, em toda a parte, julgá-las-ão por aquilo que realmente são, adúlteras e assassinas. Serão sentenciadas nos termos exatos da lei que transgrediram.
46Diz o Senhor Deus: Trarei contra elas um exército que as saqueará e esmagará. 47Os seus inimigos as apedrejarão e matarão à espada; os seus filhos e filhas serão cruelmente degolados e suas habitações feitas em cinza.
48Será assim que hei de pôr um fim a toda a devassidão e idolatria desta terra, para que todas as mulheres fiquem advertidas e não se deixem seduzir e influenciar pelo vosso mau exemplo. 49Serão castigados justamente por essa grande idolatria, por esse culto libertino aos ídolos. Receberão o castigo, sem a menor tolerância. E saberão que só eu sou o Senhor Deus!”
1The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, 2Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 3And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity. 4And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. 22¶ Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side; 23The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. 24And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. 25And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.23.26 fair…: Heb. instruments of thy decking 27Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated: 29And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. 30I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 31Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. 32Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. 34Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. 35Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
36¶ The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;23.36 judge: or, plead for 37That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them. 38Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 39For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house. 40And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,23.40 to come: Heb. coming 41And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.23.41 stately: Heb. honourable 42And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.23.42 of the…: Heb. of the multitude of men23.42 Sabeans: or, drunkards 43Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?23.43 whoredoms…: Heb. her whoredoms 44Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.
