Lamento por la caída de Tiro
1La palabra del Señor vino a mí y me dijo: 2«Hijo de hombre, dedícale este lamento a Tiro, 3ciudad asentada junto al mar y que hace negocios con pueblos de muchas costas lejanas:
»Así dice el Señor y Dios:
»“Tú dices, Tiro:
‘Soy perfecta en hermosura’.
4Tu dominio está en alta mar,
tus constructores resaltaron tu hermosura.
5Con cipreses del monte Senir
hicieron todos tus entablados.
Con cedros del Líbano
armaron tu mástil.
6Con encinas de Basán
construyeron tus remos,
y con cipreses de las costas de Chipre
ensamblaron tu cubierta,
la cual fue decorada con incrustaciones de marfil.
7Con tela de lino bordada de Egipto hicieron tus velas
y estas te sirvieron de bandera.
De las costas de Elisá trajeron
telas de azul y carmesí para tu toldo.
8Habitantes de Sidón y de Arvad eran tus remeros.
Los más hábiles timoneles de Tiro estaban a bordo.
9Los hábiles veteranos de Guebal27:9 Guebal. Es decir, Byblos.
repararon los daños en la nave.
Los marineros de todas las naves del mar
negociaron con tus mercancías.
10»”Hombres de Persia, Lidia y Fut
militaron en tu ejército.
Te adornaron con escudos y cascos;
¡sacaron a relucir tu esplendor!
11Los de Arvad y los de Jélec
defendían los muros que te rodean
y los de Gamad estaban
apostados en tus torres.
A lo largo de tus muros colgaban sus escudos,
haciendo resaltar tu hermosura.
12»”Era tal tu riqueza que Tarsis comerciaba contigo. A cambio de tu mercadería, ella te ofrecía plata, hierro, estaño y plomo.
13»”También Grecia, Tubal y Mésec negociaban contigo; a cambio de tus mercancías te ofrecían esclavos y objetos de bronce.
14»”La gente de Bet Togarma te pagaba con caballos de trabajo, caballos de montar y mulos.
15»”Los habitantes de Rodas27:15 Rodas (LXX); Dedán (TM). también comerciaban contigo. Concretabas negocios con muchas islas del mar, las cuales te pagaban con ébano y colmillos de marfil.
16»”Por los muchos productos que tenías, Aram comerciaba contigo y a cambio te entregaba turquesa, telas teñidas de color púrpura, telas bordadas, de hilo de lino fino, corales y rubíes.
17»”Judá e Israel también comerciaban contigo. Te ofrecían trigo de Minit, pasteles,27:17 pasteles. Palabra de difícil traducción. miel, aceite y bálsamo.
18»”Por la gran cantidad de tus productos y por la abundancia de tu riqueza, también Damasco comerciaba contigo. Te pagaba con vino de Jelbón y lana de Sajar. 19A cambio de tus mercancías, los danitas y los griegos te traían de Uzal hierro forjado, casia y caña aromática.
20»”Dedán te vendía aparejos para montar.
21»”Tus clientes eran Arabia y todos los príncipes de Cedar, quienes te pagaban con corderos, carneros y chivos.
22»”También eran tus clientes los comerciantes de Sabá y Ragama. A cambio de mercancías, te entregaban oro, piedras preciosas y los mejores perfumes.
23»”Jarán, Cané, Edén y los comerciantes de Sabá, Asiria y Quilmad negociaban contigo. 24Para abastecer tus mercados te vendían hermosas telas, mantos de color azul, bordados, tapices de muchos colores y cuerdas muy bien trenzadas.
25»”Las naves de Tarsis
transportaban tus mercancías.
Cargada de riquezas,
navegabas en el corazón de los mares.
26Tus remeros te llevaron por mares profundos,
pero el viento del este te hará pedazos
en el corazón de los mares.
27El día de tu naufragio
se hundirán en el corazón de los mares
tu riqueza, tu mercancía y tus productos,
tus marineros y tus timoneles,
los que reparan tus naves y tus comerciantes,
tus soldados y toda tu tripulación.
28Al grito de tus timoneles
temblarán las costas.
29Todos los remeros abandonarán las naves;
marineros y timoneles bajarán a tierra.
30Por ti levantarán la voz
y llorarán con amargura;
se echarán polvo en la cabeza
y se revolcarán en ceniza.
31Por tu culpa se raparán la cabeza,
y se vestirán de luto.
Llorarán por ti con gran amargura,
y con angustiosos quejidos.
32Entonarán sentidos lamentos
y en tono de amarga queja dirán:
‘¿Quién en medio de los mares
podía compararse a Tiro?’.
33Cuando desembarcaban tus productos
muchas naciones quedaban satisfechas.
Con tus muchas riquezas y mercancías,
enriquecías a los reyes de la tierra.
34Pero ahora el mar te ha hecho pedazos,
¡yaces en lo profundo de las aguas!
Tus mercancías y toda tu tripulación
se hundieron contigo.
35Por ti están horrorizados
todos los habitantes de las costas;
sus reyes tiemblan de miedo,
y en su rostro se dibuja el terror.
36Atónitos se han quedado
los comerciantes de otros países.
¡Tu fin ha llegado!
¡Nunca más volverás a existir!”».
A Lament Over Tyre
1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Son of man, take up a lament concerning Tyre. 3Say to Tyre, situated at the gateway to the sea, merchant of peoples on many coasts, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘You say, Tyre,
“I am perfect in beauty.”
4Your domain was on the high seas;
your builders brought your beauty to perfection.
5They made all your timbers
of juniper from Senir27:5 That is, Mount Hermon;
they took a cedar from Lebanon
to make a mast for you.
6Of oaks from Bashan
they made your oars;
of cypress wood27:6 Targum; the Masoretic Text has a different division of the consonants. from the coasts of Cyprus
they made your deck, adorned with ivory.
7Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was your sail
and served as your banner;
your awnings were of blue and purple
from the coasts of Elishah.
8Men of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;
your skilled men, Tyre, were aboard as your sailors.
9Veteran craftsmen of Byblos were on board
as shipwrights to caulk your seams.
All the ships of the sea and their sailors
came alongside to trade for your wares.
10“ ‘Men of Persia, Lydia and Put
served as soldiers in your army.
They hung their shields and helmets on your walls,
bringing you splendor.
11Men of Arvad and Helek
guarded your walls on every side;
men of Gammad
were in your towers.
They hung their shields around your walls;
they brought your beauty to perfection.
12“ ‘Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of goods; they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.
13“ ‘Greece, Tubal and Meshek did business with you; they traded human beings and articles of bronze for your wares.
14“ ‘Men of Beth Togarmah exchanged chariot horses, cavalry horses and mules for your merchandise.
15“ ‘The men of Rhodes27:15 Septuagint; Hebrew Dedan traded with you, and many coastlands were your customers; they paid you with ivory tusks and ebony.
16“ ‘Aram27:16 Most Hebrew manuscripts; some Hebrew manuscripts and Syriac Edom did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise, purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies for your merchandise.

18“ ‘Damascus did business with you because of your many products and great wealth of goods. They offered wine from Helbon, wool from Zahar 19and casks of wine from Izal in exchange for your wares: wrought iron, cassia and calamus.
20“ ‘Dedan traded in saddle blankets with you.
21“ ‘Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats.
22“ ‘The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices and precious stones, and gold.
23“ ‘Harran, Kanneh and Eden and merchants of Sheba, Ashur and Kilmad traded with you. 24In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted.
25“ ‘The ships of Tarshish serve
as carriers for your wares.
You are filled with heavy cargo
as you sail the sea.
26Your oarsmen take you
out to the high seas.
But the east wind will break you to pieces
far out at sea.
27Your wealth, merchandise and wares,
your mariners, sailors and shipwrights,
your merchants and all your soldiers,
and everyone else on board
will sink into the heart of the sea
on the day of your shipwreck.
28The shorelands will quake
when your sailors cry out.
29All who handle the oars
will abandon their ships;
the mariners and all the sailors
will stand on the shore.
30They will raise their voice
and cry bitterly over you;
they will sprinkle dust on their heads
and roll in ashes.
31They will shave their heads because of you
and will put on sackcloth.
They will weep over you with anguish of soul
and with bitter mourning.
32As they wail and mourn over you,
they will take up a lament concerning you:
“Who was ever silenced like Tyre,
surrounded by the sea?”
33When your merchandise went out on the seas,
you satisfied many nations;
with your great wealth and your wares
you enriched the kings of the earth.
34Now you are shattered by the sea
in the depths of the waters;
your wares and all your company
have gone down with you.
35All who live in the coastlands
are appalled at you;
their kings shudder with horror
and their faces are distorted with fear.
36The merchants among the nations scoff at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.’ ”
