1Disse ainda o Senhor a Jó:
2“Aquele que contende com o Todo-poderoso poderá repreendê-lo?
Que responda a Deus aquele que o acusa!”
3Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor:
4“Sou indigno; como posso responder-te?
Ponho a mão sobre a minha boca.
5Falei uma vez, mas não tenho resposta;
sim, duas vezes, mas não direi mais nada”.
6Depois, o Senhor falou a Jó do meio da tempestade:
7“Prepare-se como simples homem que é;
eu farei perguntas,
e você me responderá.
8“Você vai pôr em dúvida a minha justiça?
Vai condenar-me para justificar-se?
9Seu braço é como o de Deus,
e sua voz pode trovejar como a dele?
10Adorne-se, então, de esplendor e glória
e vista-se de majestade e honra.
11Derrame a fúria da sua ira,
olhe para todo orgulhoso e lance-o por terra,
12olhe para todo orgulhoso e humilhe-o,
esmague os ímpios onde estiverem.
13Enterre-os todos juntos no pó;
encubra os rostos deles no túmulo.
14Então admitirei que a sua mão direita
pode salvá-lo.

que criei quando criei você
e que come capim como o boi.
16Que força ele tem em seus lombos!
Que poder nos músculos do seu ventre!
17Sua cauda40.17 Ou tronco; ou ainda tromba balança como o cedro;
os nervos de suas coxas são firmemente entrelaçados.
18Seus ossos são canos de bronze,
seus membros são varas de ferro.
19Ele ocupa o primeiro lugar entre as obras de Deus.
No entanto, o seu Criador pode chegar a ele com sua espada.
20Os montes lhe oferecem tudo o que produzem,
e todos os animais selvagens brincam por perto.
21Sob os lotos se deita,
oculto entre os juncos do brejo.
22Os lotos o escondem à sua sombra;
os salgueiros junto ao regato o cercam.
23Quando o rio se enfurece, ele não se abala;
mesmo que o Jordão encrespe as ondas contra a sua boca,
ele se mantém calmo.
24Poderá alguém capturá-lo pelos olhos40.24 Ou capturá-lo por meio de um açude,
ou prendê-lo em armadilha e enganchá-lo pelo nariz?
1Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said, 2Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3¶ Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 4Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. 5Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6¶ Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? 9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? 10Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. 11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 12Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. 13Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret. 14Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
