Os Descendentes de Esaú
1Esta é a história da família de Esaú, que é Edom.
2Esaú casou-se com mulheres de Canaã: com Ada, filha de Elom, o hitita, e com Oolibama, filha de Aná e neta de Zibeão, o heveu; 3e também com Basemate, filha de Ismael e irmã de Nebaiote.
4Ada deu a Esaú um filho chamado Elifaz; Basemate deu-lhe Reuel; 5e Oolibama deu-lhe Jeús, Jalão e Corá. Esses foram os filhos de Esaú que lhe nasceram em Canaã.
6Esaú tomou suas mulheres, seus filhos e filhas e todos os de sua casa, assim como os seus rebanhos, todos os outros animais e todos os bens que havia adquirido em Canaã, e foi para outra região, para longe do seu irmão Jacó. 7Os seus bens eram tantos que eles já não podiam morar juntos; a terra onde estavam vivendo não podia sustentá-los, por causa dos seus rebanhos. 8Por isso Esaú, que é Edom, fixou-se nos montes de Seir.
9Este é o registro da descendência de Esaú, pai dos edomitas, nos montes de Seir.
10Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Esaú:
Elifaz, filho de Ada, mulher de Esaú; e Reuel, filho de Basemate, mulher de Esaú.
11Estes foram os filhos de Elifaz:
Temã, Omar, Zefô, Gaetã e Quenaz. 12Elifaz, filho de Esaú, tinha uma concubina chamada Timna, que lhe deu um filho chamado Amaleque. Foram esses os netos de Ada, mulher de Esaú.
13Estes foram os filhos de Reuel:
Naate, Zerá, Samá e Mizá. Foram esses os netos de Basemate, mulher de Esaú.

18Foram estes os filhos de Oolibama, mulher de Esaú:
Os chefes Jeús, Jalão e Corá. Foram esses os chefes descendentes de Oolibama, mulher de Esaú, filha de Aná.
19Foram esses os filhos de Esaú, que é Edom, e esses foram os seus chefes.
Os Descendentes de Seir
20Estes foram os filhos de Seir, o horeu, que estavam habitando aquela região:
Lotã, Sobal, Zibeão e Aná, 21Disom, Ézer e Disã. Esses filhos de Seir foram chefes dos horeus no território de Edom.
22Estes foram os filhos de Lotã:
Hori e Hemã. Timna era irmã de Lotã.
23Estes foram os filhos de Sobal:
Alvã, Manaate, Ebal, Sefô e Onã.
24Estes foram os filhos de Zibeão:
Aiá e Aná. Foi esse Aná que descobriu as fontes de águas quentes36.24 Ou descobriu água no deserto, quando levava para pastar os jumentos de Zibeão, seu pai.
25Estes foram os filhos de Aná:
Disom e Oolibama, a filha de Aná.
26Estes foram os filhos de Disom:
Hendã, Esbã, Itrã e Querã.
27Estes foram os filhos de Ézer:
Bilã, Zaavã e Acã.
28Estes foram os filhos de Disã:
Uz e Arã.
29Estes foram os chefes dos horeus:
Lotã, Sobal, Zibeão, Aná, 30Disom, Ézer e Disã.

Esau’s Descendants
1This is the account of the family line of Esau (that is, Edom).
2Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite— 3also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, 5and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan.
6Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob. 7Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock. 8So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.

Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath.
11The sons of Eliphaz:
Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.

18The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah:
Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs.
20These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region:
Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 21Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs.
22The sons of Lotan:

23The sons of Shobal:
Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs36:24 Vulgate; Syriac discovered water; the meaning of the Hebrew for this word is uncertain. in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.

Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.

The Rulers of Edom
31These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:
32Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah.
33When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.
34When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.
35When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.
36When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.
37When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king.
38When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.
39When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad36:39 Many manuscripts of the Masoretic Text, Samaritan Pentateuch and Syriac (see also 1 Chron. 1:50); most manuscripts of the Masoretic Text Hadar succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions:
Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 41Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 42Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 43Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied.
This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.
