Israel Rebelde
1No décimo dia do quinto mês do sétimo ano do exílio, alguns dos líderes de Israel vieram consultar o Senhor, e se sentaram diante de mim.
2Então me veio esta palavra do Senhor: 3“Filho do homem, fale com os líderes de Israel e diga-lhes: Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Vocês vieram consultar-me? Juro pela minha vida que não deixarei que vocês me consultem. Palavra do Soberano, o Senhor.
4“Você os julgará? Você os julgará, filho do homem? Então confronte-os com as práticas repugnantes dos seus antepassados 5e diga-lhes: Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: No dia em que escolhi Israel, jurei com mão erguida aos descendentes da família de Jacó e me revelei a eles no Egito. Com mão erguida eu lhes disse: Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus. 6Naquele dia jurei a eles que os tiraria do Egito e os levaria para uma terra que eu havia procurado para eles, terra onde há leite e mel com fartura, a mais linda de todas as terras. 7E eu lhes disse: Desfaçam-se, todos vocês, das imagens repugnantes em que vocês puseram os seus olhos e não se contaminem com os ídolos do Egito. Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus.
8“Mas eles se rebelaram contra mim e não quiseram ouvir-me; não se desfizeram das imagens repugnantes em que haviam posto os seus olhos nem abandonaram os ídolos do Egito. Por isso eu disse que derramaria a minha ira sobre eles e que lançaria a minha indignação contra eles no Egito. 9Mas, por amor do meu nome, eu agi, evitando que o meu nome fosse profanado aos olhos das nações entre as quais eles estavam e à vista de quem eu tinha me revelado aos israelitas para tirá-los do Egito. 10Por isso eu os tirei do Egito e os trouxe para o deserto. 11Eu lhes dei os meus decretos e lhes tornei conhecidas as minhas leis, pois aquele que lhes obedecer por elas viverá. 12Também lhes dei os meus sábados como um sinal entre nós, para que soubessem que eu, o Senhor, fiz deles um povo santo.
13“Contudo, os israelitas se rebelaram contra mim no deserto. Não agiram segundo os meus decretos, mas profanaram os meus sábados e rejeitaram as minhas leis, mesmo sabendo que aquele que a elas obedecer por elas viverá. Por isso eu disse que derramaria a minha ira sobre eles e os destruiria no deserto. 14Mas, por amor do meu nome, eu agi, evitando que o meu nome fosse profanado aos olhos das nações à vista das quais eu os havia tirado do Egito. 15Com mão erguida, também jurei a eles que não os levaria para a terra que eu lhes dei, terra onde há leite e mel com fartura, a mais linda de todas as terras, 16porque eles rejeitaram as minhas leis, não agiram segundo os meus decretos e profanaram os meus sábados. Pois os seus corações estavam voltados para os seus ídolos. 17Olhei, porém, para eles com piedade e não os destruí, não os exterminei no deserto. 18Eu disse aos filhos deles no deserto: Não sigam as normas dos seus pais nem obedeçam às leis deles nem se contaminem com os seus ídolos. 19Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus; ajam conforme os meus decretos e tenham o cuidado de obedecer às minhas leis. 20Santifiquem os meus sábados, para que eles sejam um sinal entre nós. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus.
21“Mas os filhos se rebelaram contra mim—não agiram de acordo com os meus decretos, não tiveram o cuidado de obedecer às minhas leis, mesmo sabendo que aquele que a elas obedecer por elas viverá, e profanaram os meus sábados. Por isso eu disse que derramaria a minha ira sobre eles e lançaria o meu furor contra eles no deserto. 22Mas contive o meu braço e, por amor do meu nome, agi, evitando que o meu nome fosse profanado aos olhos das nações à vista das quais eu os havia tirado do Egito. 23Com mão erguida, também jurei a eles no deserto que os espalharia entre as nações e os dispersaria por outras terras, 24porque não obedeceram às minhas leis, mas rejeitaram os meus decretos e profanaram os meus sábados, e os seus olhos cobiçaram os ídolos de seus pais. 25Também os abandonei a decretos que não eram bons e a leis pelas quais não conseguiam viver; 26deixei que se contaminassem por meio de suas ofertas, isto é, pelo sacrifício de cada filho mais velho, para que eu os enchesse de pavor e para que eles soubessem que eu sou o Senhor.
27“Portanto, filho do homem, fale à nação de Israel e diga-lhes: Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Nisto os seus antepassados também blasfemaram contra mim ao me abandonarem: 28quando eu os trouxe para a terra que havia jurado dar-lhes, bastava que vissem um monte alto ou uma árvore frondosa, ali ofereciam os seus sacrifícios, faziam ofertas que provocaram a minha ira, apresentavam seu incenso aromático e derramavam suas ofertas de bebidas. 29Perguntei-lhes então: Que altar é este no monte para onde vocês vão?” Esse altar é chamado Bama20.29 Bama significa altar no monte ou altar idólatra. até o dia de hoje.
Julgamento e Restauração
30“Portanto, diga à nação de Israel: Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Vocês não estão se contaminando como os seus antepassados se contaminaram? E não estão cobiçando as suas imagens repugnantes? 31Quando vocês apresentam as suas ofertas, o sacrifício de seus filhos no fogo, continuam a contaminar-se com todos os seus ídolos até o dia de hoje. E eu deverei deixar que me consultem, ó nação de Israel? Juro pela minha vida, palavra do Soberano, o Senhor, que não permitirei que vocês me consultem.
32“Vocês dizem: ‘Queremos ser como as nações, como os povos do mundo, que servem à madeira e à pedra’. Mas o que vocês têm em mente jamais acontecerá. 33Juro pela minha vida, palavra do Soberano, o Senhor, que dominarei sobre vocês com mão poderosa e braço forte e com ira que já transbordou. 34Trarei vocês dentre as nações e os ajuntarei dentre as terras para onde vocês foram espalhados, com mão poderosa e braço forte e com ira que já transbordou. 35Trarei vocês para o deserto das nações e ali, face a face, os julgarei. 36Assim como julguei os seus antepassados no deserto do Egito, também os julgarei. Palavra do Soberano, o Senhor. 37Contarei vocês enquanto estiverem passando debaixo da minha vara e os trarei para o vínculo da aliança. 38Eu os separarei daqueles que se revoltam e se rebelam contra mim. Embora eu os tire da terra onde habitam, eles não entrarão na terra de Israel. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor.
39“Quanto a vocês, ó nação de Israel, assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Vão prestar culto a seus ídolos, cada um de vocês! Mas depois disso certamente me ouvirão e não profanarão mais o meu santo nome com as suas ofertas e com os seus ídolos. 40Pois no meu santo monte, no alto monte de Israel, palavra do Soberano, o Senhor, na sua terra, toda a nação de Israel me prestará culto, e ali eu os aceitarei. Ali exigirei as suas ofertas e as suas melhores dádivas20.40 Ou e as dádivas dos primeiros frutos, com todas as suas dádivas sagradas. 41Eu as aceitarei como incenso aromático, quando eu os tirar dentre as nações e os ajuntar dentre as terras pelas quais vocês foram espalhados, e me mostrarei santo no meio de vocês à vista das nações. 42Vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor, quando eu os trouxer para a terra de Israel, a terra que, de mão erguida, jurei dar aos seus antepassados. 43Ali vocês se lembrarão da conduta que tiveram e de todas as ações pelas quais vocês se contaminaram e terão nojo de vocês mesmos por causa de todo mal que fizeram. 44E saberão que eu sou o Senhor, quando eu tratar com vocês por amor do meu nome e não de acordo com os seus caminhos maus e suas práticas perversas, ó nação de Israel. Palavra do Soberano, o Senhor”.
Profecia contra o Sul
45Veio a mim esta palavra do Senhor: 46“Filho do homem, vire o rosto para o sul; pregue contra o sul e profetize contra a floresta da terra do Neguebe. 47Diga à floresta do Neguebe: Ouça a palavra do Senhor. Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor: Estou a ponto de incendiá-la, consumindo assim todas as suas árvores, tanto as verdes quanto as secas. A chama abrasadora não será apagada, e todos os rostos, do Neguebe até o norte, serão ressecados por ela. 48Todos verão que eu, o Senhor, a acendi; não será apagada”.
49Então eu disse: Ah, Soberano Senhor! Estão dizendo a meu respeito: “Acaso ele não está apenas contando parábolas?”
1And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me. 2Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying, 3Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you. 4Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:20.4 Wilt…: or, Wilt thou plead for them
5¶ And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;20.5 lifted…: or, sware 6In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: 7Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 8But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
10¶ Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. 11And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.20.11 shewed…: Heb. made them to know 12Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. 13But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 14But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. 15Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; 16Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 17Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 18But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: 19I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; 20And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God. 21Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 22Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. 23I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; 24Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols. 25Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; 26And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.
27¶ Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.20.27 committed…: Heb. trespassed a trespass 28For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings. 29Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.20.29 I said…: or, I told them what the high place was, or, Bamah 30Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations? 31For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you. 32And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
33¶ As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 36Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. 37And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:20.37 bond: or, delivering 38And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 39As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. 40For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.20.40 firstfruits: or, chief 41I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.20.41 sweet…: Heb. savour of rest 42And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers. 43And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. 44And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
45¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 46Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; 47And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein. 48And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. 49Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
