2Gränsstenar flyttas
och fårhjordar blir stulna,
3den faderlöses åsna leds bort
och änkans oxe tas i pant.
4De behövande knuffas bort från vägen,
de svaga i landet tvingas gömma sig.
5Som vildåsnor i öknen går de dit,
sliter för sin föda,

6De samlar foder på fältet,
plockar och rensar rent i den ogudaktiges vingård.
7Om natten ligger de nakna i kylan
utan något att skyla sig med.
8De blir genomvåta av skurarna från bergen
och trycker sig mot klippan för att få skydd.
9Ett faderlöst barn slits från sin mors bröst,
och den fattiges spädbarn tas som pant.
10De måste gå omkring nakna, utan kläder,
och de tvingas bära kärvar medan de är hungriga.
11De tvingas pressa olivolja bland stenar

12De döendes jämmer hörs från staden.
De sårade ropar på hjälp,
och ändå anklagar inte Gud någon för att ha handlat fel.
13Det finns de som gör uppror mot ljuset,
som inte känner till dess vägar
eller håller sig till dess stigar.
14När inget dagsljus finns,
stiger mördaren upp
för att döda fattiga och nödlidande,
och på natten kommer han som en tjuv.
15Äktenskapsbrytaren inväntar skymningen,
han tänker: ”Ingen får se mig!”
och döljer sitt ansikte.
16De bryter sig in i husen om nätterna
och stänger in sig på dagen,
för de vill inte veta av ljuset.
17Den mörka natten är deras morgon,

18Men de är som skum på vattenytan,
deras mark är förbannad
och ingen går till vingårdarna.
19Som torka och hetta slukar snön och smältvattnet,
så slukar dödsriket syndaren.
20Modersskötet glömmer honom,
maskarna äter honom,
ingen minns honom längre,
och ondskan faller som ett träd.
21Han har utnyttjat den barnlösa,
och änkan har han inte gett någon hjälp.
22Gud släpar bort de starka genom sin makt,
när han reser sig
får de frukta för sina liv.
23Han kan låta dem känna sig trygga och säkra,
men hans blick följer dem.
24För en kort tid är de upphöjda,
men snart är de borta,
de slås ner,
skördas som alla andra,
vissnar som sädesax.
25Så är det.
Är det någon som kan påstå att jag ljuger,
eller motbevisa det jag säger?
