Psalmul 97
1Domnul împărățește! Să se înveselească pământul
și să se bucure insulele cele multe!
2Norii și negura Îl înconjoară,
dreptatea și judecata sunt temelia tronului Său.
3Înaintea Lui merge focul,
arzându‑I vrăjmașii din preajmă.
4Fulgerele Sale luminează lumea;
pământul vede și se cutremură.
5Munții se topesc precum ceara înaintea Domnului,
înaintea Stăpânului întregului pământ.
6Cerurile vestesc dreptatea Lui,
și toate popoarele văd slava Lui.
7Sunt făcuți de rușine toți cei ce slujesc chipurilor cioplite
și cei ce se laudă cu idolii.
Toți dumnezeii să se închine înaintea Lui!
8Sionul aude și se bucură;
se veselesc fiicele lui Iuda8 Metaforă folosită pentru cetățile Iudeei.
datorită judecăților Tale, Doamne!
9Căci Tu, Doamne, ești Cel Preaînalt peste întreg pământul;
Tu ești înălțat mai presus de toți dumnezeii!
10Cei ce iubiți pe Domnul, urâți răul!
El păzește sufletele credincioșilor Săi
și îi scapă din mâna celor răi.
11Lumina este semănată pentru cel drept,
și bucuria – pentru cel cu inima dreaptă.
12Bucurați‑vă în Domnul, voi, cei drepți!
Mulțumiți‑I, amintindu‑vă de sfințenia Lui!

4His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
8Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.
9For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
10Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
