Psalmul 37
Al lui David
1Nu te mânia din cauza răufăcătorilor
și nu‑i invidia pe cei ce săvârșesc răul,
2căci ei se usucă repede ca iarba
și se veștejesc precum verdeața!
3Încrede‑te în Domnul și fă binele!
Locuiește în țară și veghează să umbli în credincioșie3 Lit.: paște credincioșia; sau paște în siguranță (cu sensul de: bucură‑te de siguranță)..
4Desfătarea ta să fie Domnul
și El va împlini cererile inimii tale.
5Încredințează‑ți calea în mâna Domnului,
încrede‑te în El, și El va lucra.
6El va face să răsară dreptatea ta ca zorii
și cauza ta dreaptă6 Lit.: judecata. – ca miezul zilei.
7Taci înaintea Domnului și nădăjduiește în El,
nu te mânia din cauza celui ce reușește pe calea lui,
a celui ce‑și împlinește planurile lui rele.
8Renunță la mânie, părăsește furia!
Nu te mânia, căci mânia duce numai la rău.
9Fiindcă răufăcătorii vor fi stârpiți,
dar cei ce nădăjduiesc în Domnul vor moșteni țara.
10Încă puțină vreme și cel rău nu va mai fi;
te vei uita la locul unde era și nu va mai fi.
11Cei blânzi însă vor moșteni țara11 Lit.: pământul.
și se vor bucura de belșug de pace!
12Cel rău uneltește împotriva celui drept,
scrâșnește din dinți împotriva lui.
13Dar Stăpânul râde de el,
căci știe că‑i vine și lui ziua.
14Cei răi își scot sabia,
își încordează arcul,
ca să‑l doboare pe cel sărac și pe cel nevoiaș,
să‑i înjunghie pe cei ale căror căi sunt drepte.
15Sabia lor însă le va străpunge propriile inimi,
iar arcurile le vor fi zdrobite.
16Mai bun este puținul celui drept,
decât belșugul multor răi,
17căci brațele celor răi vor fi frânte,
dar Domnul îi sprijină pe cei drepți.
18Domnul cunoaște zilele celor fără pată.
Moștenirea lor va fi pe vecie.
19Ei nu sunt făcuți de rușine în vreme rea,
iar în zile de foamete vor fi săturați.
20Însă cei răi vor pieri,
iar dușmanii Domnului
vor sfârși precum frumusețea pășunilor;
în fum vor sfârși.
21Cel rău împrumută, dar nu mai dă înapoi;
cel drept însă arată bunăvoință și dă.
22Cei ce sunt binecuvântați de El vor moșteni țara,
dar cei ce sunt blestemați de El vor fi stârpiți.
23Domnul întărește pașii omului,
atunci când Își găsește plăcere în calea lui.
24Când acesta cade, nu este doborât de tot,
căci Domnul îl sprijină cu mâna Sa.
25Din tinerețea mea și până la bătrânețe
n‑am văzut vreun om drept părăsit,
nici pe sămânța lui cerșindu‑și pâinea.
26Toată ziua el arată bunăvoință și dă cu împrumut,
iar sămânța lui este o binecuvântare.26 Sau: vor culege binecuvântare.
27Deci depărtează‑te de rău și fă binele!
Atunci vei putea locui în țară pentru totdeauna!
28Domnului Îi place să facă dreptate
și nu‑Și părăsește credincioșii!
Totdeauna ei sunt păziți,
dar sămânța celor răi va fi stârpită.
29Cei drepți vor moșteni țara,
o vor locui pe vecie.
30Gura celui drept vestește înțelepciunea,
iar limba lui vorbește cu dreptate.
31El poartă în inimă Legea Dumnezeului său,
și astfel picioarele31 Lit.: pașii. nu‑i alunecă.
32Cel rău îl pândește pe cel drept,
căutând să‑l omoare,
33însă Domnul nu‑l lasă în mâna lui
și nu‑l lasă să fie condamnat la judecata lui.
34Nădăjduiește în Domnul
și păzește calea Lui,
iar El te va înălța ca să stăpânești țara
și vei vedea nimicirea celor răi!
35L‑am văzut pe cel groaznic de rău,
întinzându‑se ca un copac bogat, bine sădit în țara lui.
36Dar când am trecut încă o dată pe acolo,
iată că nu mai era;
l‑am căutat, dar nu l‑am mai găsit.
37Uită‑te la cel integru, privește‑l pe cel drept,
căci omul pașnic are viitor!
38Răzvrătiții vor fi nimiciți cu toții;
viitorul celor răi va fi retezat.
39Izbăvirea celor drepți vine de la Domnul,
Care le este refugiu în vreme de necaz.
40Domnul îi ajută și îi scapă;
îi scapă de cei răi și îi izbăvește,
pentru că se adăpostesc în El.

1Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret – it leads only to evil.
9For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
10A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.
12The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
16Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
17for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
and their inheritance will endure for ever.
19In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20But the wicked will perish:
though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
21The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;
22those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be destroyed.
23The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
24though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
25I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be a blessing.37:26 Or freely; / the names of their children will be used in blessings (see Gen. 48:20); or freely; / others will see that their children are blessed
27Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land for ever.
28For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed37:28 See Septuagint; Hebrew They will be protected for ever;
the offspring of the wicked will perish.
29The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it for ever.
30The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak what is just.
31The law of their God is in their hearts;
their feet do not slip.
32The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
intent on putting them to death;
33but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
34Hope in the Lord
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.
35I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
36but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.
37Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
a future awaits those who seek peace.37:37 Or upright; / those who seek peace will have posterity
38But all sinners will be destroyed;
there will be no future37:38 Or posterity for the wicked.
39The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.
