1Vino în ajutor, Doamne, căci se duc cei evlavioși1 Vezi nota de la 4:3.
și pier cei credincioși dintre fiii omului!
2În zadar se lingușesc unul pe altul
și vorbesc de la inimă la inimă.
3Nimicească Domnul buzele lingușitoare
și limba lăudăroasă,
4pe cei care zic: „Cu limba noastră vom reuși;
suntem stăpânii buzelor noastre! Cine poate stăpâni peste noi?“
5„Din cauza violenței față de cei săraci și a gemetelor celor nevoiași,
chiar acum Mă voi ridica, zice Domnul,
voi aduce siguranța după care tânjește.“
6Cuvintele Domnului sunt cuvinte curate,
argint purificat într‑un cuptor de pământ,
rafinat de șapte ori.
7Tu, Doamne, îi vei păzi;
Tu îl vei apăra pe fiecare de generația aceasta, pentru totdeauna.
8Cei răi mișună peste tot,
când ticăloșia este înălțată printre fiii omului.
