Avertisment cu privire la adulter
1Fiule, fii atent la înțelepciunea mea,
pleacă‑ți urechea la priceperea mea,
2ca să‑ți păstrezi discernământul,
și buzele tale să păstreze cunoștința!
3Căci buzele femeii străine picură miere,
și cerul gurii ei este mai alunecos decât uleiul,
4dar la urmă, ea este amară ca pelinul,
ascuțită ca o sabie cu două tăișuri.
5Picioarele ei coboară la moarte,
și pașii ei conduc spre Locuința Morților.
6Ea nu‑și măsoară cărarea vieții;
căile ei rătăcesc, dar ea nu știe.
7Acum, fiilor, ascultați‑mă
și nu vă îndepărtați de cuvintele gurii mele.
8Fiule, păstrează‑ți calea departe de ea,
nu te apropia de ușa casei ei,
9ca să nu‑ți dai cinstea altora,
și anii tăi unui om nemilos,
10ca nu cumva niște străini să se sature de pe urma tăriei tale,
și strădaniile tale să fie pentru casa unui străin,
11iar la sfârșitul vieții tale să gemi,
când carnea și trupul vor fi pe sfârșite,
12și să spui: „Cum am urât eu disciplinarea!
Cum a disprețuit inima mea mustrarea
13și n‑am ascultat de glasul învățătorilor mei,
nici nu mi‑am plecat urechea la cei ce mă îndrumau!
14Eram cât pe ce să fiu nenorocit de tot
în mijlocul adunării și a comunității.“
15Bea apă din fântâna ta
și din șuvoaiele puțului tău!
16De ce să se reverse izvoarele tale afară,
și cursurile tale de apă în piețe?
17Lasă‑le să fie doar pentru tine,
și nu pentru străinii de lângă tine.
18Izvorul tău să fie binecuvântat
și bucură‑te de soția tinereții tale –
19cerboaică iubită, căprioară plăcută!
Sânii ei să te sature tot timpul;
fii amețit continuu de dragostea ei.
20Și pentru ce, fiule, să fii amețit de o străină
și să îmbrățișezi sânul unei necunoscute?
21Căci căile omului sunt înaintea ochilor Domnului,
și El cântărește toate cărările lui.
22Cel rău va fi prins de înseși nelegiuirile lui
și va fi legat cu funiile păcatului său.
23El va muri din lipsă de disciplinare
și va rătăci din prea multa lui nebunie.
1My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: 2That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3¶ For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:5.3 mouth: Heb. palate 4But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. 6Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. 7Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. 8Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: 9Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: 10Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;5.10 thy wealth: Heb. thy strength 11And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, 12And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; 13And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15¶ Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. 16Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. 17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. 18Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.5.19 satisfy…: Heb. water thee5.19 be thou…: Heb. err thou always in her love 20And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? 21For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22¶ His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.5.22 sins: Heb. sin 23He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
