Judecată împotriva lui Israel
1Ascultați aceasta, preoților!
Ia aminte, Casă a lui Israel!
Pleacă‑ți urechea, familie regală!
Căci pentru voi este judecata aceasta,
fiindcă ați fost o cursă la Mițpa
și un laț întins asupra Taborului!
2Rebelii au adâncit măcelul2 Sau: Au adâncit groapa Șitimului (cu referire la un loc idolatru).,
dar Eu îi voi disciplina pe toți.
3Eu îl cunosc pe Efraim,
iar Israel nu‑Mi este ascuns,
căci acum, Efraim, te‑ai prostituat,
iar Israel s‑a întinat!
4Faptele lor nu le îngăduie
să se întoarcă la Dumnezeul lor,
căci în mijlocul lor este un duh de curvie,
și ei nu‑L cunosc pe Domnul.
5Mândria lui Israel mărturisește împotriva lui.
Israel și Efraim se împiedică în înseși nelegiuirea lor,
iar Iuda se împiedică împreună cu ei.
6Vor merge cu turmele și cu cirezile lor
ca să‑L caute pe Domnul,
dar nu‑L vor găsi,
căci S‑a îndepărtat de ei.
7Au fost necredincioși față de Domnul
căci au născut copii nelegitimi.
Acum sărbătoarea lunii noi îi va devora,
pe ei și ogoarele lor.
8Sunați din corn8 Ebr.: șofar, un instrument de suflat făcut din corn de berbec (ebr.: yyobel), care nu avea o funcție muzicală, ci era folosit pentru a transmite anumite semnale în închinare, în adunările publice sau în război. În cele mai multe locuri a fost tradus cu trâmbiță. la Ghiva

9Efraim va deveni o pustie
în ziua mustrării –
fac cunoscut printre semințiile lui Israel
ceea ce este sigur.
10Căpeteniile lui Iuda
sunt asemenea celor ce mută hotarele.
Îmi voi revărsa furia asupra lor
ca un potop de ape.
11Efraim este asuprit,
zdrobit sub judecată,
căci a hotărât să meargă după o poruncă11 Sensul termenului ebraic în acest context este neclar. Sau după nimic. deșartă.
12Eu sunt ca o molie pentru Efraim
și ca un putregai pentru Casa lui Iuda.
13Când Efraim și‑a văzut boala
și Iuda – rana,
Efraim s‑a dus în Asiria
și a trimis după împăratul Iareb.
Dar el nu poate să vă vindece,
și rana nu se va depărta de la voi.
14Căci Eu voi fi ca un leu pentru Efraim
și ca un leu tânăr pentru Casa lui Iuda.
Eu Însumi voi sfâșia și apoi voi pleca;
voi prăda și nimeni nu‑Mi va lua prada.
15Voi pleca și Mă voi întoarce în Locul Meu,
până când își vor recunoaște15 Sau: își vor purta vina. vina.
Ei vor căuta fața Mea;
în strâmtorarea lor Mă vor căuta cu adevărat.“
