Necredincioșie, pedeapsă și promisiune cu privire la restaurare
2Mustrați‑vă mama, mustrați‑o,
căci ea nu este soția Mea,
iar Eu nu sunt soțul ei!
Să depărteze curviile dinaintea ei,
și adulterul dintre sânii ei.2 Sau: Să dea la o parte semnele adulterului de pe fața ei / și semnele necredincioșiei dintre sânii ei.
3Altfel, o voi dezbrăca în pielea goală3 Vezi Ex. 21:10; Eze. 16:10.
și o voi arăta așa cum era în ziua nașterii ei;3 Vezi Eze. 16:4-8.
o voi face asemenea unei pustii,
o voi preface într‑un pământ uscat
și o voi omorî prin însetare.
4De fiii ei nu voi avea milă,
căci sunt fii ai curviei4 Vezi nota de la 1:2..
5Mama lor s‑a prostituat
și i‑a zămislit în chip rușinos.
Ea a zis: «Mă voi duce după amanții5, 7 Zeii canaaniți, în special Baal. mei,
după cei care‑mi dau pâinea și apa,
lâna și inul, uleiul și băutura!»
6De aceea, iată, îi voi îngrădi căile cu spini,
o voi împrejmui cu ziduri,
ca să nu‑și mai poată găsi cărările.
7Va alerga după amanții ei, dar nu‑i va ajunge;
îi va căuta, dar nu‑i va găsi.
Apoi va zice:
«Mă voi întoarce la primul meu Soț,
căci mi‑a fost mai bine atunci decât acum!»
8Ea nu știe însă că Eu am fost Acela
Care i‑a dat grânele, mustul și uleiul,
Cel Care i‑a înmulțit argintul și aurul,
pe care ea le‑a folosit apoi pentru Baal8 Zeul canaanit al fertilității..
9De aceea Îmi voi lua înapoi grânele la vremea lor
și mustul la vremea lui.
Îmi voi recupera lâna și inul
date pentru acoperirea goliciunii ei.
10Iar acum îi voi descoperi rușinea10 Sau: obscenitatea/depravarea.
înaintea ochilor amanților ei
și niciunul nu o va scăpa din mâna Mea.
11Voi face să înceteze toate prilejurile ei de bucurie:
sărbătorile ei, lunile ei noi,
Sabatele ei – toate zilele ei de adunare.
12Îi voi pustii viile și smochinii
despre care zicea:
«Aceasta este plata dată de amanții mei!»
Voi face din ele un hățiș,
iar vietățile câmpului le vor devora.
13O voi pedepsi pentru zilele
când ardea tămâie baalilor13, 17 Diferite forme locale ale zeului canaanit Baal, zeul fertilității.,
când se gătea cu veriga în nas și cu salba ei
și umbla după amanți,
uitând de Mine, zice Domnul.
14De aceea, iată, o voi ademeni14 Sau: seduce.,
o voi aduce în pustie
și‑i voi vorbi pe placul inimii ei.
15De acolo îi voi da viile ei
și voi face din valea Acor15 Acor înseamnă Tulburare (sau Necaz); un loc al necazului și al rușinii, la intrarea poporului în Canaan, sub conducerea lui Iosua (Ios. 7:24-26). o poartă a speranței.
Acolo ea va răspunde ca în zilele tinereții ei,
ca în ziua când s‑a suit din țara Egiptului.
16În ziua aceea, zice Domnul,
Mă vei numi «Soțul16 Ebr.: iș meu»;
și nu‑Mi vei mai spune «Stăpânul16 Ebr.: Baal, care înseamnă atât soț, cât și stăpân (vezi v. 17). meu».
17Voi îndepărta numele baalilor din gura ei
și nu le vor mai fi amintite numele.
18În ziua aceea, voi încheia pentru ei un legământ
cu vietățile câmpului, cu păsările cerului
și cu târâtoarele18 Sau: animale care mișună. Sau: animale care se târăsc. Termenul ebraic face referire la toate celelalte animalele mai mărunte, distincte de vite și de animalele sălbatice mari. De asemenea, termenul poate include și insectele. pământului.
Le voi distruge din țară
arcul, sabia și războiul
și‑i voi face să se odihnească în siguranță.
19Te voi logodi cu Mine pe vecie,
te voi logodi cu Mine prin19-20 Sau: cu. dreptate și prin judecată,
prin îndurare19 Ebr.: hesed, termen care apare frecvent (de peste 250 ori) în VT, având o varietate de sensuri (îndurare, bunătate, bunăvoință, milă, credincioșie, dragoste statornică). zice Domnul,

mustului și uleiului,
iar ele îi vor răspunde lui Izreel22 Izreel înseamnă aici Dumnezeu seamănă (sau plantează)..
23O voi sădi pentru Mine Însumi în țară!
Pe cea care nu era iubită23 Ebr.: Lo‑Ruhama, o voi iubi!
Celui ce nu era poporul Meu23 Ebr.: Lo‑Ami îi voi spune:
«Tu ești poporul Meu!»,
iar el Îmi va răspunde:
«Dumnezeul meu!»“
