Mânia Domnului împotriva lui Israel
1Când Efraim vorbea, răspândea groază!
El era înălțat în Israel,
dar a păcătuit cu Baal1 Vezi nota de la 2:8. și a murit.
2Acum ei păcătuiesc întruna,
din argintul lor își fac chipuri turnate,
idoli născociți de ei,
cu toții lucrarea meșteșugarilor.
Se zice despre ei:
„Acei oameni care sacrifică,
dau sărutare idolilor în formă de vițel.“2 Sau: meșteșugarilor. / Apoi zic: «Lor să le aduceți jertfe.» / Oamenii sărută idoli în formă de vițel.
3De aceea vor fi ca norul de dimineață
și ca roua care dispare devreme,
ca pleava suflată de furtună în arie
și ca fumul care iese din horn.
4„Dar Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău,
din țara Egiptului4 Vezi nota de la 12:9..
Să nu recunoști niciun alt dumnezeu în afară de Mine
și niciun alt Mântuitor, decât pe Mine.
5Eu te‑am cunoscut când erai în pustie,
într‑un ținut uscat.
6Când au dat însă de pășune, s‑au săturat,
iar după ce s‑au săturat,
s‑au mândrit în inima lor
și astfel M‑au uitat.
7Prin urmare, voi fi pentru ei ca un leu,
îi voi pândi pe drum ca un leopard.
8Voi da peste ei ca o ursoaică prădată de puii săi
și le voi sfâșia pieptul.
Îi voi devora ca un leu,
iar vietățile câmpului îi vor sfâșia.
9Distrugerea ta, Israel, este că ai fost împotriva Mea,
împotriva Ajutorului tău.
10Unde‑ți este regele, ca să te poată izbăvi acum?
Unde sunt judecătorii din toate cetățile tale?
Unde sunt aceia despre care ziceai:
«Dă‑mi un rege și conducători!»?
11Ți‑am dat un rege, în mânia Mea,
și ți l‑am luat, în furia Mea!
12Nelegiuirea Efraimului este adunată
și păcatul lui este păstrat.
13Durerile nașterii au venit la el,
însă el este un fiu neînțelept,
căci în momentul nașterii,
nu stă la ieșirea din pântec13 Lit.: nu stă la deschizătura fiilor..
14Îi voi elibera din mâna Locuinței Morților!14 Ebr.: Șeol
Îi voi răscumpăra de la moarte!14 Sau: Îi voi elibera oare din mâna Locuinței Morților? / Îi voi răscumpăra oare de la moarte?
Moarte, unde îți sunt molimele?
Locuință a Morților, unde îți este distrugerea?
Căința va fi ascunsă de ochii Mei,
15oricât de roditor va fi el printre frații săi.

o suflare a Domnului se va stârni din pustie.
Acesta îi va usca izvorul
și îi va seca fântâna.
Vistieria îi va fi prădată
de toate lucrurile prețioase.
16Samaria își va purta vina
pentru că s‑a răzvrătit împotriva Dumnezeului ei.
Vor cădea uciși de sabie;
copiii lor vor fi măcelăriți,
iar femeile lor însărcinate vor fi spintecate.“
