Restaurarea este promisă încă o dată
1În timp ce Ieremia era încă închis în curtea temniței, Cuvântul Domnului i‑a vorbit a doua oară, zicând: 2„Așa vorbește Domnul, Cel Care a făcut pământul, Domnul, Care l‑a întocmit ca să‑l statornicească, al Cărui Nume este Domnul: 3«Cheamă‑Mă și‑ți voi răspunde! Îți voi face cunoscute lucruri mari, lucruri neînțelese, pe care nu le știi.» 4Căci așa vorbește Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre casele acestei cetăți și despre palatele regilor lui Iuda, pe care ei le dărâmă ca să slujească drept apărare împotriva rampelor de asalt și împotriva sabiei 5când vor înainta să lupte împotriva caldeenilor, și care se vor umple de cadavrele celor pe care îi voi lovi în mânia și în furia Mea, deoarece, din cauza răutății lor, Îmi voi ascunde fața de cetatea aceasta: 6«Iată, le voi aduce vindecare și sănătate. Eu îi voi vindeca și îi voi face să descopere belșug de pace și credincioșie. 7Îi voi aduce înapoi pe captivii lui Iuda și pe captivii lui Israel și îi voi așeza iarăși ca odinioară. 8Îi voi curăți de toată nelegiuirea pe care au săvârșit‑o împotriva Mea și le voi ierta toate nelegiuirile prin care au păcătuit și s‑au răzvrătit împotriva Mea. 9Atunci Ierusalimul va fi pentru Mine un nume care‑Mi va aduce bucurie, un motiv de laudă și onoare înaintea tuturor neamurilor pământului, care vor auzi toate lucrurile bune pe care le‑am făcut pentru el. Ele se vor înfricoșa și vor fi uimite de toată fericirea și pacea pe care i‑o voi da.»“
10Așa vorbește Domnul: „În locul acesta, despre care ziceți că este pustiu, în care nu mai sunt nici oameni, nici animale, în cetățile lui Iuda și pe străzile Ierusalimului, devastate, lipsite de oameni, fără locuitori și fără animale, se vor auzi din nou 11strigăte de bucurie și strigăte de veselie, glasul mirelui și al miresei, precum și glasul celor ce aduc jertfe de mulțumire în Casa Domnului, zicând:
«Mulțumiți Domnului Oștirilor,
căci Domnul este bun,
căci în veac ține îndurarea Lui!»
Fiindcă îi voi aduce înapoi pe cei luați captivi din țară și vor fi ca la început, zice Domnul.“
12Așa vorbește Domnul Oștirilor: „În locul acesta pustiu, fără oameni și fără animale și în toate cetățile lui, vor exista iarăși pășuni pentru păstori, unde să‑și odihnească turmele. 13În cetățile de la munte și în cetățile din zona deluroasă13 Vezi nota de la 17:26., în cetățile din Neghev13 Vezi nota de la 13:19. și în teritoriul lui Beniamin, în împrejurimile Ierusalimului și în cetățile din Iuda, turmele vor trece iarăși prin mâinile celor ce le numără, zice Domnul.
14Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul, când voi împlini promisiunea cea bună pe care am făcut‑o Casei lui Israel și Casei lui Iuda.
15În zilele acelea și în vremea aceea
voi face să‑i răsară lui David un Vlăstar drept,
Care va face judecată și dreptate în țară.
16În zilele acelea, Iuda va fi izbăvit
și Ierusalimul va locui în siguranță.
Acesta este numele cu care o vor chema:
«Domnul – Dreptatea noastră».
17Căci așa vorbește Domnul: «David nu va fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaș care să stea pe tronul Casei lui Israel. 18Nici preoții leviți nu vor fi lipsiți înaintea Mea de un urmaș care să aducă arderi‑de‑tot, să ardă tămâie și daruri de mâncare și să aducă jertfe în fiecare zi.»“
19Cuvântul Domnului i‑a vorbit lui Ieremia, zicând: 20„Așa vorbește Domnul: «Dacă veți putea rupe legământul Meu cu ziua și legământul Meu cu noaptea, astfel încât ziua și noaptea să nu mai fie la vremea lor, 21atunci se va putea rupe și legământul Meu cu David, robul Meu, așa încât să nu mai aibă fii care să domnească pe tronul lui, și legământul Meu cu preoții leviți, slujitorii Mei. 22Ca oștirea cerurilor, care nu se poate număra, și ca nisipul mării, care nu se poate măsura, așa voi înmulți sămânța22 Termenul ebraic pentru sămânță este un singular care se poate referi atât la un singur urmaș, cât și la toți descendenții din linia genealogică a unei persoane (colectiv). 23Cuvântul Domnului i‑a vorbit lui Ieremia, zicând: 24„N‑ai băgat de seamă că poporul acesta zice: «Domnul a lepădat cele două clanuri24 Se referă fie la cele două regate, Israel și Iuda, fie la cele două familii, regală și levitică. pe care le‑a ales!»? Astfel, ei Îmi disprețuiesc poporul și nu‑l mai consideră a fi un neam.“
25Așa vorbește Domnul: „Dacă n‑ar fi existat legământul Meu cu ziua și cu noaptea și n‑aș fi rânduit legi cerurilor și pământului, 26atunci aș fi respins și sămânța lui Iacov și a lui David, robul Meu, și n‑aș fi luat din sămânța lui conducători peste urmașii26 Lit.: sămânța. lui Avraam, Isaac și Iacov. Eu însă le voi aduce înapoi captivii și voi avea milă de ei.“
The Lord Promises to Heal His People
1Jeremiah was still being held as a prisoner. He was kept in the courtyard of the guard. Then another message from the Lord came to him. The Lord said, 2“I made the earth. I formed it. And I set it in place. The Lord is my name. 3Call out to me. I will answer you. I will tell you great things you do not know. And unless I do, you wouldn’t be able to find out about them.” 4The Lord is the God of Israel. He speaks about the houses in Jerusalem. He talks about the royal palaces of Judah. The people had torn down many of them. They had used their stones to strengthen the city walls against attack. 5That was during their fight with the armies of Babylon. The Lord says, “The houses will be filled with dead bodies. They will be the bodies of the people I will kill. I will kill them when I am very angry with them. I will hide my face from this city. That’s because its people have committed so many sins.
6“But now I will bring health and healing to Jerusalem. I will heal my people. I will let them enjoy great peace and security. 7I will bring Judah and Israel back from the places where they have been taken. I will build up the nation again. It will be just as it was before. 8I will wash from its people all the sins they have committed against me. And I will forgive all the sins they committed when they turned away from me. 9Then this city will bring me fame, joy, praise and honor. All the nations on earth will hear about the good things I do for this city. They will see the great success and peace I give it. Then they will be filled with wonder. And they will tremble with fear.”
10The Lord says, “You say about this place, ‘It’s a dry and empty desert. It doesn’t have any people or animals in it.’ The towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem are now deserted. So they do not have any people or animals living in them. But happy sounds will be heard there once more. 11They will be the sounds of joy and gladness. The voices of brides and grooms will fill the streets. And the voices of those who bring thank offerings to my house will be heard there. They will say,
“ ‘Give thanks to the Lord who rules over all,
because he is good.
His faithful love continues forever.’
That’s because I will bless this land with great success again. It will be as it was before,” says the Lord.
12The Lord who rules over all says, “This place is a desert. It does not have any people or animals in it. But there will again be grasslands near all its towns. Shepherds will rest their flocks there. 13Flocks will again pass under the hands of shepherds as they count their sheep,” says the Lord. “That will be done in the towns of the central hill country. It will be done in the western hills and the Negev Desert. It will be done in the territory of Benjamin. And it will be done in the villages around Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah.
14“The days are coming,” announces the Lord. “At that time I will fulfill my good promise to my people. I made it to the people of Israel and Judah.
15“Here is what I will do in those days and at that time.
I will make a godly Branch grow from David’s royal line.
He will do what is fair and right in the land.
16In those days Judah will be saved.
Jerusalem will live in safety.
And it will be called
The Lord Who Makes Us Right With Himself.”
17The Lord says, “David will always have a son to sit on the throne of Israel. 18The priests, who are Levites, will always have a man to serve me. He will sacrifice burnt offerings. He will burn grain offerings. And he will offer sacrifices.”
19A message from the Lord came to Jeremiah. 20The Lord said, “Could you ever break my covenant with the day? Could you ever break my covenant with the night? Could you ever stop day and night from coming at their appointed times? 21Only then could my covenant with my servant David be broken. Only then could my covenant with the Levites who serve me as priests be broken. Only then would David no longer have someone from his family line to rule on his throne. 22Here is what I will do for my servant David. And here is what I will do for the Levites who serve me. I will make their children after them as many as the stars in the sky. And I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. It will be impossible to count them.”
23A message from the Lord came to Jeremiah. The Lord said, 24“Haven’t you noticed what these people are saying? They say, ‘The Lord once chose the two kingdoms of Israel and Judah. But now he has turned his back on them.’ So they hate my people. They do not think of them as a nation anymore. 25I say, ‘What if I had not made my covenant with day and night? What if I had not established the laws of heaven and earth? 26Only then would I turn my back on the children of Jacob and my servant David. Only then would I not choose one of David’s sons to rule over the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But I will bless my people with great success again. I will love them with tender love.’ ”
