Edictul de repatriere a evreilor
(2 Cron. 36:22-23)
1În primul an al lui Cirus1 Cirus II cel Mare, care a domnit între anii 559–530 î.Cr. Textul face referire la anul 539–538 î.Cr., primul an după cucerirea Babilonului., împăratul Persiei, ca să se împlinească Cuvântul Domnului spus prin1 Lit.: Cuvântul Domnului din gura lui. Ieremia1 Vezi Ier. 25:11-12; 29:10-14., Domnul a trezit duhul lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, și acesta a pus să se vestească prin viu grai și în scris în toată împărăția sa următoarele:
2Așa vorbește Cirus, împăratul Persiei:
„Domnul, Dumnezeul cerurilor, Care mi‑a dat toate regatele pământului, m‑a numit să‑I zidesc o Casă la Ierusalim, în Iuda. 3Cine dintre voi este din poporul Lui? Dumnezeul lui să fie cu el! Lăsați‑l să se suie la Ierusalim, în Iuda, ca să zidească acolo Casa Domnului, Dumnezeul lui Israel. El este Dumnezeul Care locuiește la Ierusalim. 4Fiecare supraviețuitor, în orice loc s‑ar afla, să fie ajutat de oamenii din acele locuri cu argint, cu aur, cu diferite bunuri și cu vite, precum și cu daruri de bunăvoie pentru Casa lui Dumnezeu din Ierusalim.“
5Atunci căpeteniile familiilor lui Iuda și ale lui Beniamin, preoții, leviții – toți aceia al căror duh l‑a trezit Dumnezeu – s‑au ridicat ca să meargă să zidească în Ierusalim Casa Domnului. 6Toți cei dimprejurul lor i‑au sprijinit cu argint, cu aur, cu bunuri, cu vite și cu lucruri scumpe, pe lângă tot felul de daruri de bunăvoie. 7Împăratul Cirus a adus obiectele Casei Domnului, cele care fuseseră luate de Nebucadnețar7 Nebucadnețar (Nabucodonosor, cf. LXX, Vulgata), împărat al Babilonului, care a domnit între anii 604–561 î.Cr. de la Ierusalim și puse în casa dumnezeilor săi. 8Cirus, împăratul Persiei, le‑a adus prin mâna vistiernicului Mitredat, iar acesta le‑a numărat înaintea lui Șeșbațar, prințul iudeilor. 9Iată care este numărul lor:
treizeci de vase de aur,
o mie de vase de argint,
douăzeci și nouă de cuțite9 Sensul termenului ebraic este nesigur.,
10treizeci de cupe de aur,
patru sute zece cupe de argint șlefuit,
o mie de alte obiecte.
11Toate obiectele de aur și de argint erau în număr de cinci mii patru sute. Șeșbațar le‑a adus pe toate acestea atunci când exilații s‑au suit din Babilon la Ierusalim.
1Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,1.1 made…: Heb. caused a voice to pass 2Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 3Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. 4And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.1.4 help…: Heb. lift him up
5¶ Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. 6And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.1.6 strengthened…: that is, helped them
7¶ Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods; 8Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah. 9And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives, 10Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand. 11All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred.
