Iminența dezastrului
1Cuvântul Domnului mi‑a vorbit, zicând: 2„Fiul omului, așa îi vorbește Stăpânul Domn țării lui Israel:
«Sfârșitul! A venit sfârșitul peste cele patru colțuri ale țării!
3Acum sfârșitul este peste tine!
Voi trimite mânia Mea împotriva ta.
Te voi judeca după căile tale
și voi pune peste tine povara tuturor urâciunilor tale.
4Nu Mă voi uita cu milă la tine și nu te voi cruța,
ci îți voi răsplăti după căile tale
și potrivit cu urâciunile care au loc în mijlocul tău.
Și vei ști astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.»
5Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn:
«Un singur dezastru! Iată, vine un dezastru!
6Vine sfârșitul! Vine sfârșitul!
S‑a deșteptat împotriva ta! Iată‑l venind!
7Vine condamnarea peste tine, locuitor al țării!
Vine vremea! Ziua este aproape!
Pe munți este panică, nu strigăte de bucurie!
8Acum sunt aproape să‑Mi revărs furia asupra ta
și să‑Mi dezlănțui toată mânia împotriva ta.
Te voi judeca după cum ți‑e umbletul
și îți voi face după toate urâciunile tale.
9Nu Mă voi uita cu milă la tine și nu te voi cruța,
ci îți voi răsplăti după cum ți‑e umbletul
și potrivit cu urâciunile care au loc în mijlocul tău.
Și vei ști astfel că Cel Ce lovește sunt Eu, Domnul!
10Iată ziua! Iat‑o că vine!
Vine condamnarea! Ramura a înmugurit!
Îngâmfarea a înfrunzit!
11Violența s‑a înălțat
ca să slujească de toiag răutății:
nu va mai rămâne nimic din ei,
nici din mulțimea lor, nici din bogăția lor;
nu va mai rămâne nimic deosebit între ei.
12Vine vremea! Se apropie ziua!
Să nu se bucure cumpărătorul,
iar vânzătorul să nu bocească,
deoarece mânia se va revărsa peste toată mulțimea.
13Căci vânzătorul nu se va mai întoarce
la ceea ce a vândut13 Probabil cu referire la Anul de veselie (vezi Lev. 25).,
cât timp trăiesc amândoi,
fiindcă viziunea cu privire la mulțime
nu se va schimba.
Și niciunul, din cauza nelegiuirilor lui,
nu‑și va scăpa viața.
14Ei au sunat din corn14 Ebr.: taqoa’, termen diferit de șofar (tradus de cele mai multe ori cu trâmbiță și de câteva ori cu corn; vezi și nota de la 33:3) și de hațoțerah (tradus cu trâmbiță). și au pregătit totul!
Totuși, niciunul nu merge la luptă,
căci mânia Mea este împotriva întregii mulțimi.
15Afară va fi sabia,
iar în casă – molima și foametea.
Cine va fi pe câmp va muri de sabie,
iar pe cel ce va fi în cetate
îl vor devora foametea și molima.
16Cei ce vor scăpa cu viață dintre ei
se vor afla în munți,
ca porumbeii văilor,
gemând cu toții,
fiecare pentru nelegiuirea lui.
17Toate mâinile vor slăbi
și pe toți genunchii se va scurge apă.17 Lit.: și toți genunchii vor merge ape.
18Se vor încinge cu saci
și tremurul îi va cuprinde pe toți.
Toate fețele vor fi acoperite de rușine
și toate capetele vor fi rase.
19Își vor arunca argintul pe străzi,
iar aurul le va fi ca o necurăție.
Argintul și aurul lor nu vor putea să‑i scape în ziua furiei Domnului.
Nu vor putea nici să le sature sufletul,
nici să le umple pântecul,
căci ele au fost cauza
care i‑a făcut să cadă în nelegiuire.
20Se mândreau cu frumusețea podoabelor lor,
din care își făceau chipurile urâciunilor lor,
ale lucrurilor lor spurcate.
De aceea le voi preface într‑o necurăție.
21Le voi da ca pradă în mâna străinilor,
vor fi de jaful celor răi de pe pământ,
și ei le vor întina.
22Îmi voi întoarce fața de la ei
și vor întina locul Meu prețios.
Prădătorii vor intra în el și‑l vor întina.
23Pregătește lanțul,
căci țara este plină de vărsare de sânge,
iar cetatea este plină de violență.
24Voi aduce cele mai rele neamuri
ca să le ia în stăpânire casele.
Voi pune capăt mândriei celor puternici,
iar locurile lor sfinte vor fi întinate.
25Când va veni teroarea,
ei vor căuta pacea, dar nu o vor găsi.
26Va veni dezastru după dezastru,
va sosi veste după veste.
Atunci vor încerca să găsească o viziune din partea profetului,
dar învățătura din Lege a preotului va fi pierdută
și sfatul bătrânilor la fel.
27Regele va boci, prințul se va îmbrăca cu pustiirea,
iar mâinile poporului țării vor fi cuprinse de groază.
Le voi face după calea lor
și‑i voi judeca după legile lor.
Și vor ști astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.»“
The end has come
1The word of the Lord came to me: 2‘Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to the land of Israel:
‘ “The end! The end has come
upon the four corners of the land!
3The end is now upon you,
and I will unleash my anger against you.
I will judge you according to your conduct
and repay you for all your detestable practices.
4I will not look on you with pity;
I will not spare you.
I will surely repay you for your conduct
and for the detestable practices among you.
‘ “Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
5‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

See, it comes!
6The end has come!
The end has come!
It has roused itself against you.
See, it comes!
7Doom has come upon you,
upon you who dwell in the land.
The time has come! The day is near!
There is panic, not joy, on the mountains.
8I am about to pour out my wrath on you
and spend my anger against you.
I will judge you according to your conduct
and repay you for all your detestable practices.
9I will not look on you with pity;
I will not spare you.
I will repay you for your conduct
and for the detestable practices among you.
‘ “Then you will know that it is I the Lord who strikes you.
10‘ “See, the day!
See, it comes!
Doom has burst forth,
the rod has budded,
arrogance has blossomed!
11Violence has arisen,7:11 Or The violent one has become
a rod to punish the wicked.
None of the people will be left,
none of that crowd –
none of their wealth,
nothing of value.
12The time has come!
The day has arrived!
Let not the buyer rejoice
nor the seller grieve,
for my wrath is on the whole crowd.
13The seller will not recover
the property that was sold –
as long as both buyer and seller live.
For the vision concerning the whole crowd
will not be reversed.
Because of their sins, not one of them
will preserve their life.
14‘ “They have blown the trumpet,
they have made all things ready,
but no-one will go into battle,
for my wrath is on the whole crowd.
15Outside is the sword;
inside are plague and famine.
Those in the country
will die by the sword;
those in the city
will be devoured by famine and plague.
16The fugitives who escape
will flee to the mountains.
Like doves of the valleys,
they will all moan,
each for their own sins.
17Every hand will go limp;
every leg will be wet with urine.
18They will put on sackcloth
and be clothed with terror.
Every face will be covered with shame,
and every head will be shaved.
19‘ “They will throw their silver into the streets,
and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean.
Their silver and gold
will not be able to deliver them
in the day of the Lord’s wrath.
It will not satisfy their hunger
or fill their stomachs,
for it has caused them to stumble into sin.
20They took pride in their beautiful jewellery
and used it to make their detestable idols.
They made it into vile images;
therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.
21I will give their wealth as plunder to foreigners
and as loot to the wicked of the earth,
who will defile it.
22I will turn my face away from the people,
and robbers will desecrate the place I treasure.
They will enter it
and will defile it.
23‘ “Prepare chains!
For the land is full of bloodshed,
and the city is full of violence.
24I will bring the most wicked of nations
to take possession of their houses.
I will put an end to the pride of the mighty,
and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.
25When terror comes,
they will seek peace in vain.
26Calamity upon calamity will come,
and rumour upon rumour.
They will go searching for a vision from the prophet,
priestly instruction in the law will cease,
the counsel of the elders will come to an end.
27The king will mourn,
the prince will be clothed with despair,
and the hands of the people of the land will tremble.
I will deal with them according to their conduct,
and by their own standards I will judge them.
‘ “Then they will know that I am the Lord.” ’
