Bocet pentru Egipt
1Cuvântul Domnului mi‑a vorbit, zicând: 2– Fiul omului, profețește și spune: „Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn:
«Gemeți!
‘Vai ce zi va fi!’
3Căci ziua este aproape,
ziua Domnului este aproape!
Va fi o zi a norilor,
o vreme de condamnare a neamurilor!
4O sabie va intra în Egipt
și va fi teroare în Cuș4-5, 9 Regiunea Nilului Superior; Etiopia..
Când cei înjunghiați vor cădea în Egipt,
i se vor lua bogățiile
și i se vor dărâma temeliile.
5Cuș, Put5 Vezi nota de la 27:10., Lud5 Lidia, în Asia Mică; posibil și un teritoriu din nordul Africii (vezi Gen. 10:13; Ier. 46:9)., toată Arabia, Cub și fiii țării legământului5 Cu referire, probabil, la israeliții care locuiau în Egipt. vor cădea uciși de sabie!»
6Așa vorbește Domnul:
«Sprijinitorii Egiptului vor cădea,
și mândria puterii lui se va prăbuși.
Din Migdol până la Syene6 Vezi nota de la 29:10.
vor cădea uciși de sabie,
zice Stăpânul Domn.
7Țara va deveni una pustiită
printre alte țări pustiite,
iar cetățile ei se vor afla
printre celelalte cetăți pustiite.
8Și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul,
când voi da foc Egiptului
și când toți cei ce‑l ajută vor fi zdrobiți.
9În ziua aceea, niște mesageri vor pleca dinaintea Mea pe corăbii ca să‑l înspăimânte pe Cuș, cel care se credea în siguranță. Îl va cuprinde spaima în ziua căderii Egiptului, căci iată că ziua aceea vine!»“
10„Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn:
«Voi nimici mulțimea egiptenilor
prin mâna lui Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului.
11El și poporul lui, cei mai groaznici dintre neamuri,
vor fi aduși să distrugă țara.
Își vor scoate săbiile împotriva Egiptului
și vor umple țara de morți.
12Voi preface râurile în pământ uscat
și voi vinde țara în mâinile celor răi.
Voi pustii țara cu tot ce cuprinde ea
prin mâna străinului.
Eu, Domnul, am vorbit!»“
13„Așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn:
«Voi distruge idolii
și voi stârpi chipurile din Nof13 Memfis, un centru important al Egiptului de Jos (nordul Egiptului)..
Nu va mai rămâne niciun prinț în țara Egiptului
și voi răspândi teama în țara Egiptului.
14Voi pustii Patrosul14 Egiptul de Sus (sudul Egiptului).,
voi da foc Țoanului14 Important centru în Delta Nilului, care era cunoscut și sub numele de Tanis.
și voi face judecată în No14-16 Oraș celebru construit în Egiptul de Sus (sudul Egiptului), pe ambele maluri ale Nilului, și cunoscut sub numele de Teba..
15Îmi voi revărsa furia peste Sin15-16 Fortăreață importantă la frontiera de est a Egiptului, cunoscută sub numele de Pelusium.,
fortăreața Egiptului,
și voi nimici mulțimea din No.
16Voi da foc Egiptului;
Sin va tremura de groază,
în No se va pătrunde printr‑o spărtură,
iar Nof va fi cucerit de vrăjmași ziua în amiaza mare.
17Tinerii din On17 Heliopolis, important centru al cultului zeului-soare, Ra. și din Pi‑Beset17 Bubastis, centru al cultului zeiței Bubastis.
vor cădea uciși de sabie
și înseși cetățile acestea vor merge în captivitate.
18Întunecată va fi ziua în care, la Tahpanhes18 Cetate situată la frontiera estică a Egiptului de Jos (la 30 km depărtare de Pelusium); ea a fost distrusă în timpul invaziei în Egipt a lui Nebucadnețar in 568-567 î. Cr., împlinindu‑se astfel oracolele rostite de către Ieremia (43:9-13; 44:30) și, în cazul de față, Ezechiel.,
voi rupe jugurile Egiptului
iar mândria puterii lui se va sfârși.
Un nor va acoperi Tahpanhesul,
iar fiicele lui18 Cu referire la așezările din jurul Tahpanhesului. vor merge în captivitate.
19Îmi voi împlini astfel judecățile împotriva Egiptului
și va ști că Eu sunt Domnul.»“
20În anul al unsprezecelea, în ziua a șaptea a lunii întâi20 29 aprilie 587 î.Cr. Vezi nota de la 1:1., Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine și mi‑a zis: 21– Fiul omului, am frânt brațul lui Faraon, regele Egiptului. Și iată că nu va fi legat ca să se poată vindeca, nici nu i se va pune o legătură ca să se prindă la loc, să se refacă și să poată mânui din nou sabia. 22„De aceea, așa vorbește Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, sunt împotriva lui Faraon, regele Egiptului. Îi voi frânge brațele, atât pe cel puternic, cât și pe cel rupt, și voi face să‑i cadă sabia din mână. 23Îi voi risipi pe egipteni printre neamuri și‑i voi împrăștia în țări străine. 24Voi întări brațele împăratului Babilonului și‑i voi pune sabia în mână, dar voi frânge brațele lui Faraon, iar acesta va geme înaintea lui cum gem cei loviți de moarte. 25Când voi întări brațele împăratului Babilonului, iar brațele lui Faraon vor cădea, vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul și că Eu am pus sabia Mea în mâna împăratului Babilonului și am întins‑o împotriva țării Egiptului. 26Îi voi risipi pe egipteni printre neamuri și‑i voi împrăștia în țări străine. Și vor ști astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.»“
A Lament Over Egypt
1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘Wail and say,
“Alas for that day!”
3For the day is near,
the day of the Lord is near—
a day of clouds,
a time of doom for the nations.
4A sword will come against Egypt,
and anguish will come upon Cush.30:4 That is, the upper Nile region; also in verses 5 and 9
When the slain fall in Egypt,
her wealth will be carried away
and her foundations torn down.
5Cush and Libya, Lydia and all Arabia, Kub and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.
6“ ‘This is what the Lord says:
“ ‘The allies of Egypt will fall
and her proud strength will fail.
From Migdol to Aswan
they will fall by the sword within her,
declares the Sovereign Lord.
7“ ‘They will be desolate
among desolate lands,
and their cities will lie
among ruined cities.
8Then they will know that I am the Lord,
when I set fire to Egypt
and all her helpers are crushed.
9“ ‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come.
10“ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt
by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

will be brought in to destroy the land.
They will draw their swords against Egypt
and fill the land with the slain.
12I will dry up the waters of the Nile
and sell the land to an evil nation;
by the hand of foreigners
I will lay waste the land and everything in it.
I the Lord have spoken.
13“ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘I will destroy the idols
and put an end to the images in Memphis.
No longer will there be a prince in Egypt,
and I will spread fear throughout the land.
14I will lay waste Upper Egypt,
set fire to Zoan
and inflict punishment on Thebes.
15I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium,
the stronghold of Egypt,
and wipe out the hordes of Thebes.
16I will set fire to Egypt;
Pelusium will writhe in agony.
Thebes will be taken by storm;
Memphis will be in constant distress.
17The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis
will fall by the sword,
and the cities themselves will go into captivity.
18Dark will be the day at Tahpanhes
when I break the yoke of Egypt;
there her proud strength will come to an end.
She will be covered with clouds,
and her villages will go into captivity.
19So I will inflict punishment on Egypt,
and they will know that I am the Lord.’ ”
Pharaoh’s Arms Are Broken
20In the eleventh year, in the first month on the seventh day, the word of the Lord came to me: 21“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt. It has not been bound up to be healed or put in a splint so that it may become strong enough to hold a sword. 22Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break both his arms, the good arm as well as the broken one, and make the sword fall from his hand. 23I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. 24I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him like a mortally wounded man. 25I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he brandishes it against Egypt. 26I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
