Slava lui Dumnezeu părăsește Templul
1M‑am uitat și iată că pe întinderea1 Vezi nota de la 1:22. care se afla deasupra capetelor heruvimilor se vedea ceva ca o piatră de safir1 Sau: lapislazuli. care semăna la înfățișare cu un tron. 2El i‑a vorbit bărbatului îmbrăcat în haine de in și a zis: „Intră între roțile de sub heruvimi! Umple‑ți apoi mâinile cu cărbunii aprinși care sunt între heruvimi și împrăștie‑i peste cetate!“ Și el a intrat înaintea ochilor mei.
3În acest timp, heruvimii stăteau în partea de sud3 Lit.: dreaptă; în vremea aceea, în Orient punctele cardinale erau determinate de poziția cu fața spre răsărit, nu spre nord. a Casei, iar norul umpluse curtea interioară. 4Atunci slava Domnului s‑a ridicat dintre heruvimi și s‑a oprit deasupra pragului Casei. Norul a umplut Casa și strălucirea slavei Domnului a umplut curtea. 5Zgomotul făcut de aripile heruvimilor se auzea până în curtea exterioară și era asemenea glasului Dumnezeului cel Atotputernic5 Ebr.: El‑Șadai când vorbește.
6Atunci i‑a poruncit bărbatului îmbrăcat în haine de in, zicând: „Ia cărbuni aprinși dintre roți, dintre heruvimi!“ Acesta s‑a dus și s‑a oprit lângă roți. 7Atunci unul dintre heruvimi a întins mâna spre focul care era între ei, a luat cărbuni și i‑a pus în palma celui cu haine de in. Acesta i‑a luat și a ieșit. 8Undeva, sub aripile heruvimilor, se vedea forma unei mâini de om.
9M‑am uitat și iată că în apropierea heruvimilor erau patru roți, o roată în apropierea unui heruvim și o roată în apropierea următorului heruvim. Înfățișarea roților era ca strălucirea unei pietre de crisolit. 10Cele patru roți aveau aceeași înfățișare, fiecare având aspectul unei roți care se afla în mijlocul altei roți. 11Când mergeau, ele se puteau deplasa în toate cele patru direcții fără să se rotească în mers, căci, încotro era îndreptat capul fiecărui heruvim, într-acolo mergeau și ele, fără să se rotească în mers. 12Tot trupul heruvimilor, inclusiv spatele, mâinile, aripile și roțile – cele patru roți ale lor – era plin de ochi de jur împrejur. 13Cât despre roțile lor, ele au fost numite, în auzul meu, roți mișcătoare. 14Fiecare heruvim avea patru fețe: prima față era de heruvim, a doua față era de om, a treia față era de leu, iar a patra față era de vultur.
15Apoi heruvimii s‑au ridicat. Erau aceleași ființe vii pe care le văzusem la râul Chebar. 16Când mergeau heruvimii, mergeau și roțile alături de ei, iar când își ridicau aripile ca să se înalțe de la pământ, roțile rămâneau tot în apropierea lor. 17Când se opreau, se opreau și ele; când mergeau, mergeau și ele, căci duhul ființelor vii era în ele.
18Slava Domnului a părăsit pragul Casei și s‑a oprit deasupra heruvimilor. 19Apoi, înaintea ochilor mei, heruvimii și‑au ridicat aripile și s‑au înălțat de la pământ. Când au ieșit ei, au plecat și roțile împreună cu ei. S‑au oprit la intrarea porții dinspre răsărit a Casei Domnului, slava Dumnezeului lui Israel fiind sus, deasupra lor.
20Erau aceleași ființe vii pe care le văzusem stând sub Dumnezeul lui Israel, la râul Chebar, și mi‑am dat seama că sunt heruvimi. 21Fiecare avea câte patru fețe, câte patru aripi și ceva de forma unor mâini omenești sub aripi. 22Înfățișarea fețelor lor era aceeași cu a fețelor pe care le văzusem la râul Chebar; aveau aceeași înfățișare și fiecare mergea în partea în care avea îndreptată fața.
The Glory of the Lord Moves Out of the Temple
1I looked up and saw something that appeared to be a throne made out of lapis lazuli. It was above the huge space that was spread out over the heads of the cherubim. 2The Lord spoke to the man who was wearing linen clothes. He said, “Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from the fire that is among the cherubim. Scatter the coals over the city.” As I watched, he went in.
3The cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in. A cloud filled the inner courtyard. 4Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim. It moved to the doorway of the temple. The cloud filled the temple. And the courtyard was full of the brightness of the glory of the Lord. 5The sound the wings of the cherubim made could be heard as far away as the outer courtyard. It was like the voice of the Mighty God when he speaks.
6The Lord gave a command to the man who was dressed in linen clothes. He said, “Get some coals of fire from among the wheels. Take them from among the cherubim.” So the man went in and stood beside a wheel. 7Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand. He picked up some of the burning coals that were among the wheels. He handed them to the man who was wearing linen clothes. The man took them and left. 8I saw what looked like human hands. They were under the wings of the cherubim.
9I looked up and saw four wheels beside the cherubim. One wheel was beside each of them. The wheels gleamed like topaz. 10All four of them looked alike. Each wheel appeared to be inside another wheel at right angles. 11The wheels could go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced. The wheels didn’t change their direction as the cherubim moved. The cherubim went in the direction their heads faced. They didn’t change their direction as they moved. 12Their whole bodies were completely covered with eyes. That included their backs, hands and wings. Their four wheels were covered with eyes too. 13I heard someone tell the wheels to start spinning around. 14Each of the cherubim had four faces. One face was the face of a cherub. The second was the face of a human being. The third was the face of a lion. And the fourth was an eagle’s face.
15The cherubim rose from the ground. They were the same living creatures I had seen by the Kebar River. 16When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved. The cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground. As they did, the wheels didn’t leave their side. 17When the cherubim stood still, the wheels also stood still. When the cherubim rose, the wheels rose along with them. That’s because the spirits of the living creatures were in the wheels.
18Then the glory of the Lord moved away from the doorway of the temple. It stopped above the cherubim. 19While I watched, they spread their wings. They rose from the ground. As they went, the wheels went along with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s house. And the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
20These were the same living creatures I had seen by the Kebar River. I had seen them beneath the God of Israel. I realized that they were cherubim. 21Each one had four faces and four wings. Under their wings was what looked like human hands. 22Their faces looked the same as the ones I had seen by the Kebar River. Each of the cherubim went straight ahead.
