Odihna promisă de Dumnezeu
1Să ne temem, așadar, ca nu cumva, cât timp este lăsată promisiunea intrării în odihna Lui, vreunul dintre voi să pară ajuns prea târziu. 2Căci și nouă ne‑a fost vestită Evanghelia2 Termenul Evanghelie înseamnă: Vestea Bună [peste tot în carte]., ca și lor, dar lor, cuvântul pe care l‑au auzit nu le‑a fost de niciun folos, nefiind uniți prin credință cu cei care l‑au auzit2 Unele mss conțin: folos, deoarece ei nu au luat parte la credința celor ce au ascultat.. 3Însă noi, cei care am crezut, intrăm în acea odihnă, așa cum a spus:
„De aceea am jurat în mânia Mea:
«Nu vor intra în odihna Mea!»“3 Vezi Ps. 95:11 și Evr. 3:11; vezi, de asemenea, v. 5.
Și totuși lucrările Sale au fost terminate încă de la întemeierea lumii – 4pentru că a spus undeva, despre ziua a șaptea, astfel: „Dumnezeu S‑a odihnit în ziua a șaptea de toate lucrările Lui“4 Vezi Gen. 2:2. 5și, din nou, în același loc: „Nu vor intra în odihna Mea!“
6Deci, fiindcă rămâne ca unii să intre în ea, și întrucât cei dintâi, cărora li s‑a vestit Evanghelia, n‑au intrat din cauza neascultării, 7El hotărăște din nou o anumită zi, – „astăzi“ –, zicând, prin David, după atât de mult timp, așa cum s‑a spus mai înainte:
„Astăzi, dacă auziți glasul Lui,
nu vă împietriți inimile!“7 Vezi Ps. 95:7-8.
8Căci dacă Iosua le‑ar fi dat odihnă, atunci Dumnezeu n‑ar fi vorbit mai târziu despre o altă zi. 9Prin urmare, este lăsată pentru poporul lui Dumnezeu o odihnă de Sabat. 10Fiindcă oricine a intrat în odihna Lui s‑a odihnit și el de lucrările lui, ca și Dumnezeu de ale Sale. 11Să ne străduim11 Sau: Să ne grăbim. deci să intrăm în acea odihnă, pentru ca nimeni să nu cadă prin același fel de neascultare!
12Căci Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu este viu și lucrător12 Se poate traduce și cu eficient. Termenul se referă la un obiect sau instrument care își îndeplinește scopul, funcționează așa cum este de așteptat., mai ascuțit decât orice sabie cu două tăișuri, străpungând până desparte sufletul și duhul, încheieturile și măduva și fiind în stare să judece gândurile și intențiile inimii. 13Nicio făptură nu este ascunsă de El, ci totul este gol și descoperit ochilor Lui, înaintea Căruia trebuie să dăm socoteală.
Isus, Marele nostru Preot
14Așadar, fiindcă avem un Mare Preot Care a străbătut cerurile, pe Isus, Fiul lui Dumnezeu, să ne ținem tare de mărturisirea noastră. 15Căci n‑avem un Mare Preot Care să nu poată avea milă de15 Lit.: să nu poată simpatiza cu. slăbiciunile noastre, ci Unul Care a fost ispitit în toate felurile, ca și noi, dar fără păcat. 16Așadar, să ne apropiem cu îndrăzneală de tronul harului, ca să primim milă și să găsim har care să ne dea ajutor la vreme de nevoie.
God’s People Enter His Sabbath Rest
1God’s promise of enjoying his rest still stands. So be careful that none of you fails to receive it. 2The good news was announced to our people of long ago. It has also been preached to us. The message they heard didn’t have any value for them. That’s because they didn’t share the faith of those who obeyed. 3Now we who have believed enjoy that rest. God said,
“When I was angry, I made a promise.
I said, ‘They will never enjoy the rest I planned for them.’ ” (Psalm 95:11)
Ever since God created the world, his works have been finished. 4Somewhere he spoke about the seventh day. He said, “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” (Genesis 2:2) 5In the part of Scripture I talked about earlier God spoke. He said, “They will never enjoy the rest I planned for them.” (Psalm 95:11)
6It is still true that some people will enjoy this rest. But those who had the good news announced to them earlier didn’t go in. That’s because they didn’t obey. 7So God again chose a certain day. He named it Today. He did this when he spoke through David a long time later. Here is what was written in the Scripture already given.
“Listen to his voice today.
If you hear it, don’t be stubborn.” (Psalm 95:7,8)
8Suppose Joshua had given them rest. If he had, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9So there is still a Sabbath rest for God’s people. 10God rested from his work. Those who enjoy God’s rest also rest from their works. 11So let us make every effort to enjoy that rest. Then no one will die by disobeying as they did.
12The word of God is alive and active. It is sharper than any sword that has two edges. It cuts deep enough to separate soul from spirit. It can separate bones from joints. It judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. 13Nothing God created is hidden from him. His eyes see everything. He will hold us responsible for everything we do.
Jesus Is the Great High Priest
14We have a great high priest. He has gone up into heaven. He is Jesus the Son of God. So let us hold firmly to what we say we believe. 15We have a high priest who can feel it when we are weak and hurting. We have a high priest who has been tempted in every way, just as we are. But he did not sin. 16So let us boldly approach God’s throne of grace. Then we will receive mercy. We will find grace to help us when we need it.
