Moartea lui Moise
1Moise s‑a urcat din câmpiile Moabului pe muntele Nebo, pe vârful Pisga, care este înaintea Ierihonului. Domnul i‑a arătat întreaga țară, de la Ghilad până la Dan, 2țara lui Neftali, țara lui Efraim și a lui Manase, toată țara lui Iuda până la Marea de Apus2 Marea Mediterană., 3Neghevul3 Vezi nota de la 1:7. și toată regiunea din Valea Ierihonului, Cetatea de Palmieri, până la Țoar. 4Atunci Domnul i‑a zis: „Aceasta este țara pe care am promis‑o lui Avraam, lui Isaac și lui Iacov, zicând: «Seminței4 Vezi notele de la 1:8 și 30:6. tale i‑o voi da!» Te‑am lăsat s‑o vezi cu ochii tăi, dar nu vei traversa într-acolo.“
5Moise, robul Domnului, a murit în țara Moabului, după Cuvântul Domnului. 6El l‑a înmormântat în țara Moabului, în valea care este față în față cu Bet‑Peor, dar nimeni nu i‑a cunoscut mormântul până în ziua aceasta. 7Moise era în vârstă de o sută douăzeci de ani când a murit, însă vederea nu‑i slăbise și vigoarea nu‑l părăsise. 8Fiii lui Israel l‑au plâns pe Moise în câmpiile Moabului treizeci de zile. Apoi zilele de plâns și de bocet pentru Moise s‑au încheiat.
9Iosua, fiul lui Nun, era plin de duhul înțelepciunii, deoarece Moise își pusese mâinile peste el. Fiii lui Israel au ascultat de el și au împlinit ceea ce Domnul i‑a poruncit prin Moise.
10Nu s‑a mai ridicat în Israel niciun profet asemenea lui Moise, pe care Domnul să‑l fi cunoscut față în față. 11N‑a fost nimeni ca el în ce privește toate semnele și minunile pe care Domnul l‑a trimis să le facă în țara Egiptului împotriva lui Faraon, împotriva tuturor slujitorilor lui și împotriva întregii lui țări, 12și în ce privește toată mâna puternică și toată teama cea mare pe care Moise le‑a arătat sub ochii întregului Israel.
The death of Moses
1Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, opposite Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land – from Gilead to Dan, 2all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4Then the Lord said to him, ‘This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, “I will give it to your descendants.” I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.’
5And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6He buried him34:6 Or He was buried in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no-one knows where his grave is. 7Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.
9Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit34:9 Or Spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
10Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt – to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12For no-one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
