Cei o mie de ani
1Am văzut un înger care cobora din cer și care avea cheia Adâncului și un lanț mare în mână. 2El a înșfăcat dragonul, șarpele cel vechi, care este diavolul și Satan, și l‑a legat pentru o mie de ani. 3El l‑a aruncat în Adânc, apoi a încuiat și a pecetluit intrarea deasupra lui, ca să nu mai ducă în rătăcire neamurile până când se vor fi împlinit cei o mie de ani. După aceea, trebuie să fie dezlegat pentru puțin timp.
4Am văzut niște tronuri, iar celor ce ședeau pe ele li s‑a dat autoritatea să judece. Am văzut și sufletele celor ce au fost decapitați din cauza mărturiei lui Isus și din cauza Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu, care nu i s‑au închinat fiarei, nici chipului ei și care n‑au primit semnul ei pe frunte și pe mână. Ei au înviat și au domnit cu Cristos o mie de ani. 5(Ceilalți morți n‑au înviat până când nu s‑au împlinit cei o mie de ani.) Aceasta este prima înviere.5 Sau: Aceasta este prima înviere. (Ceilalți morți n‑au înviat până când nu s‑au împlinit cei o mie de ani.) 6Fericit și sfânt este cel ce are parte de prima înviere! Asupra acestora a doua moarte nu are autoritate, ci vor fi preoți ai lui Dumnezeu și ai lui Cristos și vor domni cu El o mie de ani.
Condamnarea lui Satan
7Când se vor fi împlinit cei o mie de ani, Satan va fi dezlegat din închisoarea lui 8și va ieși ca să ducă în rătăcire neamurile care sunt în cele patru colțuri ale pământului – pe Gog și Magog8 Vezi Eze. 38–39. – și să le adune pentru război. La număr, ele sunt ca nisipul mării. 9Ele s‑au ridicat pe întinderea pământului și au înconjurat tabăra sfinților și cetatea iubită. Atunci a coborât foc din cer și i‑a mistuit. 10Diavolul, care‑i ducea în rătăcire, a fost aruncat în lacul de foc și sulf, unde erau fiara și profetul fals. Ei vor fi chinuiți zi și noapte, în vecii vecilor.
Judecarea celor morți
11Apoi am văzut un tron mare și alb și pe Cel Ce ședea pe el. Pământul și cerul au fugit din prezența Lui și nu s‑a mai găsit loc pentru ele. 12I‑am văzut pe morții mari și mici stând înaintea tronului. Au fost deschise niște cărți și a fost deschisă și o altă Carte, care este Cartea Vieții. Morții au fost judecați potrivit cu faptele lor, așa cum erau ele scrise în cărți. 13Marea i‑a dat pe morții care erau în ea, moartea și Locuința Morților13-14 Gr.: Hades. i‑au dat pe morții care erau în ele și fiecare a fost judecat după faptele lui. 14Moartea și Locuința Morților au fost aruncate în lacul de foc. Aceasta este a doua moarte: lacul de foc. 15Oricine n‑a fost găsit scris în Cartea Vieții a fost aruncat în lacul de foc.
The thousand years
1And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2He seized the dragon, that ancient snake, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They20:4 Or God; I also saw those who had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
The judgment of Satan
7When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth – Gog and Magog – and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
The judgment of the dead
11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
