Последние годы Авраама и его смерть
(1 Пар. 1:32-33)
1Авраам взял себе другую жену, которую звали Хеттура. 2Она родила ему Зимрана, Иокшана, Медана, Мадиана, Ишбака и Шуаха. 3Иокшан был отцом Шевы и Дедана; потомками Дедана были ашуриты, летушиты и леюмиты. 4Сыновья Мадиана: Ефа, Ефер, Енох, Авида и Элдага – все они потомки Хеттуры.
5Авраам оставил все, что у него было, Исааку. 6Сыновьям наложниц он еще при жизни дал подарки и отослал их от своего сына Исаака на восток, в восточную землю.
7Всего Авраам прожил сто семьдесят пять лет. 8Он испустил последний вздох и умер в глубокой старости, насытившись жизнью, и отошел к своим предкам. 9Его сыновья Исаак и Измаил похоронили его в пещере Махпела рядом с Мамре, на поле хетта Эфрона, сына Цохара, 10которое Авраам купил у хеттов25:10 Или: «у сыновей Хета».. Там Авраам был погребен рядом со своей женой Саррой. 11После смерти Авраама Бог благословил его сына Исаака, который тогда жил возле Беэр-лахай-рои.
Потомки Измаила
(1 Пар. 1:28-31)
12Вот родословие Измаила, сына Авраама, которого Саррина служанка, египтянка Агарь, родила Аврааму; 13и вот имена сыновей Измаила, перечисленные в порядке их рождения: Невайот – первенец Измаила, Кедар, Адбеел, Мивсам, 14Мишма, Дума, Масса, 15Хадад, Тема, Иетур, Нафиш и Кедма. 16Это имена сыновей Измаила, имена двенадцати вождей родов по их поселениям и кочевьям.
17Всего Измаил жил сто тридцать семь лет. Он испустил последний вздох и умер, и отошел к своим предкам. 18Его потомки поселились в области от Хавилы до Шура, возле границы Египта, на пути к Ашшуру. Они жили во вражде со всеми братьями25:18 Или: «жили к востоку от братьев»..
Сыновья Исаака – Иаков и Исав
19Вот рассказ об Исааке, сыне Авраама:
У Авраама родился Исаак. 20Исааку было сорок лет, когда он женился на Ревекке, дочери арамея Бетуила из Паддан-Арама25:20 То есть из северо-западной Месопотамии. и сестре арамея Лавана.
21Исаак молил Господа за жену, потому что она была бесплодна. Господь ответил на его молитву, и его жена Ревекка забеременела. 22Дети стали толкать друг друга в ее утробе, и она сказала:
– За что мне это?25:22 Смысл этого места в еврейском тексте неясен.
И она пошла спросить Господа. 23Господь сказал ей:
– Два племени в чреве твоем,
два народа произойдут из тебя и разделятся;
один будет сильнее другого,
и старший будет служить младшему.
24Когда пришло ей время родить, во чреве ее действительно оказались мальчики-близнецы. 25Первый родился красный, и все его тело было покрыто волосами как ворсистой одеждой; поэтому его назвали Исав25:25 Здесь это имя соотносится с Сеиром, землей, где позже жили потомки Исава; по звучанию «Сеир» напоминает еврейское слово «волосатый».. 26Потом появился его брат, держась рукой за пятку Исава; поэтому он был назван Иаков25:26 Здесь это имя наделяется значением «он держится за пятку» (образное выражение, означавшее «он обманывает»).. Исааку было шестьдесят лет, когда Ревекка родила их.
Исав продает свое первородство
27Мальчики выросли: Исав был искусный охотник, человек полей, а Иаков был человек тихий, живущий среди шатров. 28Исаак, которому была по вкусу дичь, больше любил Исава, но Ревекка больше любила Иакова.
29Однажды, когда Иаков готовил похлебку, Исав вернулся с поля очень голодный. 30Он сказал Иакову:
– Скорее, дай мне поесть немного того красного, что ты готовишь! Я умираю от голода! (Вот почему ему также дали имя Эдом25:30 По звучанию это имя напоминает еврейское слово «красный».).
31Иаков ответил:
– Сперва продай мне твое первородство25:31 Первородство – особое положение старшего (первородного) сына в доме, дававшее право на первенство среди братьев и особые привилегии при получении наследства (см. Втор. 21:15-17). Кроме того, первенец принадлежал Самому Богу (см. Чис. 3:13)..
32– Я умираю от голода, – сказал Исав. – Какая мне польза в первородстве?
33Иаков сказал:
– Сначала поклянись.
Он поклялся, и так продал свое первородство Иакову.
34Тогда Иаков дал Исаву хлеба и чечевичной похлебки. Он поел, попил, встал и ушел.
Так Исав пренебрег своим первородством.
1Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. 2And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. 3And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. 4And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5¶ And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. 6But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country. 7And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years. 8Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people. 9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre; 10The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11¶ And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.
12¶ Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham: 13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, 14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, 15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:25.15 Hadar: or, Hadad 16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations. 17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people. 18And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.25.18 died: Heb. fell
19¶ And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac: 20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. 21And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. 23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24¶ And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. 26And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. 27And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. 28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.25.28 he…: Heb. venison was in his mouth
29¶ And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: 30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.25.30 with…: Heb. with that red, with that red pottage25.30 Edom: that is Red 31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?25.32 at…: Heb. going to die 33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
