The arrangement of the tribal camps
1The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: 2‘The Israelites are to camp round the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family.’
3On the east, towards the sunrise:
the divisions of the camp of Judah are to camp under their standard. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab. 4His division numbers 74,600.
5The tribe of Issachar will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar. 6His division numbers 54,400.
7The tribe of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon. 8His division numbers 57,400.
9All the men assigned to the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, number 186,400. They will set out first.
10On the south will be:
the divisions of the camp of Reuben under their standard. The leader of the people of Reuben is Elizur son of Shedeur. 11His division numbers 46,500.
12The tribe of Simeon will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. 13His division numbers 59,300.
14The tribe of Gad will be next. The leader of the people of Gad is Eliasaph son of Deuel.2:14 Many manuscripts of the Masoretic Text, Samaritan Pentateuch and Vulgate (see also 1:14); most manuscripts of the Masoretic Text Reuel 15His division numbers 45,650.
16All the men assigned to the camp of Reuben, according to their divisions, number 151,450. They will set out second.
17Then the tent of meeting and the camp of the Levites will set out in the middle of the camps. They will set out in the same order as they set up camp, each in their own place under their standard.
18On the west will be:
the divisions of the camp of Ephraim under their standard. The leader of the people of Ephraim is Elishama son of Ammihud. 19His division numbers 40,500.
20The tribe of Manasseh will be next to them. The leader of the people of Manasseh is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. 21His division numbers 32,200.
22The tribe of Benjamin will be next. The leader of the people of Benjamin is Abidan son of Gideoni. 23His division numbers 35,400.
24All the men assigned to the camp of Ephraim, according to their divisions, number 108,100. They will set out third.
25On the north will be:
the divisions of the camp of Dan under their standard. The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai. 26His division numbers 62,700.
27The tribe of Asher will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Asher is Pagiel son of Okran. 28His division numbers 41,500.
29The tribe of Naphtali will be next. The leader of the people of Naphtali is Ahira son of Enan. 30His division numbers 53,400.
31All the men assigned to the camp of Dan number 157,600. They will set out last, under their standards.
32These are the Israelites, counted according to their families. All the men in the camps, by their divisions, number 603,550. 33The Levites, however, were not counted along with the other Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.
34So the Israelites did everything the Lord commanded Moses; that is the way they camped under their standards, and that is the way they set out, each of them with their clan and family.

9이와 같이 유다 진영에 진을 칠 전체 병력은 186,400명이다. 이들이 선두에서 행군하게 하라.
10-11“성막 남쪽에 진을 칠 세 지파는 스데울 의 아들 엘리술이 이끄는 46,500명의 병력을 가진 르우벤 지파,
12-13그 옆에는 수리삿대의 아들 슬루미엘 이 이끄는 59,300명의 병력을 가진 시므온 지파,
14-15그 옆에는 2:14-15 또는 ‘드우엘’르우엘의 아들 엘리아삽이 이끄는 45,650명의 병력을 가진 갓 지파이다.
16이와 같이 르우벤 진영에 진을 칠 전체 병력은 151,450명이다. 이들이 두 번째로 행군하게 하라.
17“그 다음에는 레위 지파가 성막을 가지고 행렬 중앙에서 행군하게 하라. 그리고 행군할 때에는 진을 치는 순서대로 각 지파가 기를 앞세우고 자기 위치에서 행군해야 한다.
18-19“성막 서쪽에 진을 칠 세 지파는 암미훗 의 아들 엘리사마가 이끄는 40,500명의 병력을 가진 에브라임 지파,
20-21그 옆에는 브다술의 아들 가말리엘이 이끄는 32,200명의 병력을 가진 므낫세 지파,
22-23그 옆에는 기드오니의 아들 아비단이 이끄는 35,400명의 병력을 가진 베냐민 지파이다.
24이와 같이 에브라임 진영에 진을 칠 전체 병력은 108,100명이다. 이들이 세 번째로 행군하게 하라.
25-26“그리고 성막 북쪽에 진을 칠 세 지파 는 암미삿대의 아들 아히에셀이 이끄는 62,700명의 병력을 가진 단 지파,
27-28그 옆에는 오그란의 아들 바기엘이 이 끄는 41,500명의 병력을 가진 아셀 지파,
29-30그 옆에는 에난의 아들 아히라가 이끄 는 53,400명의 병력을 가진 납달리 지파이다.
31이와 같이 단 진영에 진을 칠 전체 병력은 157,600명이다. 이들이 제일 뒤에서 행군하게 하라.”
32이상과 같이 이스라엘 백성 가운데 징집 명단에 등록된 전체 인원은 603,550명이었다.
33그러나 여기에는 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 레위인은 포함되지 않았다.
34이스라엘 백성은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 각 지파별로 기를 앞세우고 진을 치기도 하고 행군하기도 하였다.
