Olive oil and bread set before the Lord
1The Lord said to Moses, 2‘Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. 3Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. 4The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the Lord must be tended continually.
5‘Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using one-fifth of an ephah24:5 That is, probably about 3.2 kilograms for each loaf. 6Arrange them in two piles, six in each pile, on the table of pure gold before the Lord. 7By each pile put some pure incense as a memorial24:7 Or representative portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the Lord. 8This bread is to be set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. 9It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in the sanctuary area, because it is a most holy part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the Lord.’
A blasphemer put to death
10Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. 11The son of the Israelite woman used the Name blasphemously with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.) 12They put him in custody until the will of the Lord should be made clear to them.
13Then the Lord said to Moses: 14‘Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. 15Say to the Israelites: “Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; 16anyone who uses the name of the Lord blasphemously is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they use the Name blasphemously they are to be put to death.
17‘ “Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death. 18Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution – life for life. 19Anyone who injures their neighbour is to be injured in the same manner: 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury. 21Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death. 22You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the Lord your God.” ’
23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses.
Jertfele continue din Cortul Întâlnirii
(Ex. 27:20-21)
1Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 2„Poruncește‑le fiilor lui Israel să‑ți aducă pentru luminat ulei pur din măsline presate, ca să ardă în candele, și astfel sfeșnicul să lumineze continuu. 3Aaron să‑l pregătească în Cortul Întâlnirii, dincoace de draperia Mărturiei, ca să ardă continuu înaintea Domnului, de seara până dimineața. Aceasta să fie o hotărâre veșnică de‑a lungul generațiilor voastre. 4Să așeze candelele în sfeșnicul de aur curat, ca să fie întotdeauna înaintea Domnului.
5Să iei făină aleasă și să faci din ea douăsprezece turte. Pentru fiecare turtă să folosești două zecimi dintr‑o efă5 Vezi nota de la 14:10; aproximativ 4,5 l.. 6Să le așezi în două șiruri pe masa de aur curat, câte șase pe fiecare șir, înaintea Domnului. 7Să pui tămâie curată pe fiecare șir, iar aceasta să fie lângă pâine o aducere-aminte, o jertfă mistuită de foc pentru Domnul. 8În fiecare zi de Sabat să se aducă neîncetat această pâine înaintea Domnului, fiind luată de la fiii lui Israel printr‑un legământ veșnic. 9Ea să fie a lui Aaron și a fiilor săi, iar aceștia o vor mânca într‑un loc sfânt, căci ea este pentru Aaron o parte preasfântă din jertfele mistuite de foc pentru Domnul. Aceasta este o hotărâre veșnică.“
Pedeapsa pentru hulă și Legea Talionului
10Fiul unei femei israelite și al unui bărbat egiptean a ieșit printre fiii lui Israel. Acest fiu al femeii israelite s‑a luat la luptă, în tabără, cu un bărbat israelit. 11Fiul femeii israelite a blasfemiat Numele și a blestemat. L‑au adus la Moise – mama lui se numea Șelomit, fiica lui Dibri, din seminția lui Dan – 12și l‑au închis până avea să le fie arătată hotărârea Domnului.
13Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 14„Scoateți‑l în afara taberei pe cel ce a blestemat. Toți aceia care l‑au auzit să‑și pună mâinile pe capul lui și întreaga comunitate să‑l omoare cu pietre. 15Apoi să le vorbești fiilor lui Israel, zicând: «Orice bărbat care Îl va blestema pe Dumnezeul lui își va purta pedeapsa pentru păcatul lui. 16Cine va blasfemia Numele Domnului trebuie să fie omorât. Toată comunitatea să‑l omoare cu pietre. Fie străin, fie băștinaș, când blasfemiază Numele, să fie omorât.
17Cine va ucide un om să fie pedepsit cu moartea. 18Cine va omorî un animal va trebui să dea altul în loc: viață pentru viață. 19Dacă un om va răni pe semenul său, să i se facă așa cum a făcut el: 20rană pentru rană, ochi pentru ochi, dinte pentru dinte. Să i se facă aceeași rană pe care a făcut‑o el semenului său. 21Cel ce va omorî un animal va trebui să dea altul în loc, însă cel ce va ucide un om să fie omorât. 22Să aveți aceeași lege atât pentru străin, cât și pentru băștinaș, căci Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.»“
23Moise le‑a vorbit fiilor lui Israel, iar ei l‑au scos în afara taberei pe cel ce hulise și l‑au omorât cu pietre. Fiii lui Israel au făcut așa cum Domnul i‑a poruncit lui Moise.
