Jesus changes water into wine
1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’
4‘Woman,2:4 The Greek for Woman does not denote any disrespect. why do you involve me?’ Jesus replied. ‘My hour has not yet come.’
5His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’
6Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from eighty to a hundred and twenty litres.
7Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim.
8Then he told them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.’
They did so, 9and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realise where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, ‘Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.’
11What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
12After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
Jesus clears the temple courts
13When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16To those who sold doves he said, ‘Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!’ 17His disciples remembered that it is written: ‘Zeal for your house will consume me.’2:17 Psalm 69:9
18The Jews then responded to him, ‘What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?’
19Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.’
20They replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?’ 21But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
23Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.2:23 Or in him 24But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
Иисус превращает воду в вино
1На третий день в Кане, в Галилее, был свадебный пир, и мать Иисуса была там. 2Иисус и Его ученики тоже были приглашены на свадьбу. 3Случилось так, что во время пира кончилось вино, и мать Иисуса тогда сказала Ему:
– У них нет вина.
4Иисус ответил:
– О, женщина2:4 Это обращение Иисуса к матери, в данном случае, не было грубым, но, возможно, подчеркивало Его особое положение., почему Я должен заботиться об этом? Мое время еще не настало.
5Мать Иисуса сказала слугам:
– Делайте то, что Он вам скажет.
6Рядом стояло шесть больших каменных сосудов, которые иудеи использовали для обрядовых омовений. В каждый сосуд вмещалось по две или по три меры2:6 То есть около 75–115 литров воды.. 7Иисус сказал слугам:
– Наполните сосуды водой.
Те наполнили их водой до верха.
8– А теперь зачерпните, – сказал Он, – и отнесите распорядителю пира.
Они так и сделали. 9Тот попробовал воду, ставшую вином. Он не знал, откуда взялось вино, об этом знали только слуги. Распорядитель отозвал в сторону жениха 10и упрекнул его:
– Все подают вначале вино получше, а потом, когда гости напьются, подают вино похуже. А ты сберегал лучшее вино до сих пор.
11Так Иисус положил начало знамениям в Кане Галилейской и явил Свою славу; и Его ученики уверовали в Него.
12После этого Иисус вместе с матерью, братьями и учениками пошел в Капернаум, и там они пробыли несколько дней.
Иисус прогоняет торговцев со двора храма
(Мат. 21:12-13; Мк. 11:15-17; Лк. 19:45-46)
13Приближалось время иудейской Пасхи, и Иисус пошел в Иерусалим. 14В храме Он увидел людей, продававших быков, овец и голубей; у столов сидели те, кто менял деньги. 15Сделав из веревок плеть, Он выгнал из храма всех торговцев, а также овец и быков. Он опрокинул столы менял, рассыпав их монеты.
16– Уберите это отсюда! – говорил Он продавцам голубей. – Как вы смеете превращать дом Моего Отца в базар!
17Его ученики вспомнили записанное в Писании: «Ревность о доме Твоем снедает Меня»2:17 Пс. 68:10.. 18Тогда иудеи спросили у Него:
– Каким знамением Ты можешь доказать нам, что Ты имеешь право все это делать?
19Иисус ответил им:
– Разрушьте этот храм, и Я в три дня восстановлю его.
20Иудеи ответили:
– Этот храм строился сорок шесть лет, а Ты собираешься восстановить его в три дня?
21Но Иисус имел в виду не здание храма, а Свое тело. 22После того как Иисус воскрес из мертвых, ученики вспомнили Его слова и поверили Писанию и словам Иисуса.
23Пока Иисус был в Иерусалиме на празднике Пасхи, многие, видя знамения, которые Он творил, поверили в Него. 24Но Сам Иисус не доверялся им, потому что Он знал всех, 25и Ему не нужно было знать о человеке по рассказам других, так как Он видел, что у каждого на душе.
