Judah to serve Nebuchadnezzar
1Early in the reign of Zedekiah27:1 A few Hebrew manuscripts and Syriac (see also 27:3,12 and 28:1); most Hebrew manuscripts Jehoiakim (most Septuagint manuscripts do not have this verse.) son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2this is what the Lord said to me: ‘Make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck. 3Then send word to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre and Sidon through the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. 4Give them a message for their masters and say, “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Tell this to your masters: 5with my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please. 6Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; I will make even the wild animals subject to him. 7All nations will serve him and his son and his grandson until the time for his land comes; then many nations and great kings will subjugate him.
8‘ “ ‘If, however, any nation or kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon or bow its neck under his yoke, I will punish that nation with the sword, famine and plague, declares the Lord, until I destroy it by his hand. 9So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums or your sorcerers who tell you, “You will not serve the king of Babylon.” 10They prophesy lies to you that will only serve to remove you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish. 11But if any nation will bow its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live there, declares the Lord.’ ” ’
12I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, ‘Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live. 13Why will you and your people die by the sword, famine and plague with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, “You will not serve the king of Babylon,” for they are prophesying lies to you. 15“I have not sent them,” declares the Lord. “They are prophesying lies in my name. Therefore, I will banish you and you will perish, both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.” ’
16Then I said to the priests and all these people, ‘This is what the Lord says: do not listen to the prophets who say, “Very soon now the articles from the Lord’s house will be brought back from Babylon.” They are prophesying lies to you. 17Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and you will live. Why should this city become a ruin? 18If they are prophets and have the word of the Lord, let them plead with the Lord Almighty that the articles which remain in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem will not be taken to Babylon. 19For this is what the Lord Almighty says about the pillars, the bronze Sea, the movable stands and the other articles that are left in this city, 20which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take away when he carried Jehoiachin27:20 Hebrew Jeconiah, a variant of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem – 21yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about the things that are left in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22“They will be taken to Babylon and there they will remain until the day I come for them,” declares the Lord. “Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.” ’

1-2Sang bag-o pa lang naghari si Zedekia nga anak ni Josia sa Juda, nagsiling ang Ginoo sa akon, “Jeremias, maghimo ka sang gota kag tabang27:1-2 tabang: lubid nga ginatakod sa gota. nga panit kag itakod sa imo liog. 3Dayon ibantala ini nga mensahi sa mga hari sang Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, kag Sidon paagi sa ila mga ambasador nga nagkadto sa Jerusalem sa pagpakigkita kay Haring Zedekia sang Juda. 4Ihatag sa ila ini nga mensahi para sa ila mga hari: ‘Amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sang Israel: 5Paagi sa akon puwerte nga gahom gintuga ko ang kalibutan, ang mga katawhan, kag ang mga kasapatan, kag pagusto ako kon sin-o ang akon padumalahon sini. 6Gani karon itugyan ko ang inyo mga nasyon sa akon alagad nga si Haring Nebucadnezar sang Babilonia. Bisan ang talunon nga mga sapat ipasakop ko sa iya pagdumala. 7Magaalagad ang tanan nga nasyon sa iya, sa iya anak, kag sa iya apo, hasta sa tion nga malaglag ang Babilonia. Kag sa sina nga tion, ang Babilonia naman ang magaalagad sa madamo nga nasyon kag sa gamhanan nga mga hari.
8“ ‘Pero kon may nasyon ukon ginharian nga indi mag-alagad ukon magpasakop kay Haring Nebucadnezar sang Babilonia, silutan ko ina nga nasyon ukon ginharian paagi sa inaway, gutom, kag balatian hasta nga mapasakop ko sila kay Nebucadnezar. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini. 9Gani indi kamo magpamati sa inyo mga propeta, mga manugpakot, mga nagasaysay sang kahulugan sang mga damgo, mga manugbabaylan ukon espiritista, nga nagasiling nga indi kamo pagsakupon sang hari sang Babilonia. 10Kabutigan ang ila ginasiling sa inyo. Kag kon patihan ninyo, pahalinon ko kamo sa inyo duta. Tabugon ko kamo kag laglagon. 11Pero ang nasyon nga magpasakop kag mag-alagad sa hari sang Babilonia magapabilin sa ila kaugalingon nga duta, kag magapadayon sila sa pag-estar dira kag sa pagpanguma. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.’ ”
12Amo man nga mensahi ang ginsiling ko kay Haring Zedekia sang Juda. Nagsiling ako, “Magpasakop kamo sa hari sang Babilonia. Mag-alagad kamo sa iya kag sa iya katawhan kag magakabuhi kamo. 13Kay kon indi, ikaw kag ang imo katawhan mapatay sa inaway, sa gutom, kag sa balatian, subong sang ginsiling sang Ginoo nga matabo sa nasyon nga indi mag-alagad sa hari sang Babilonia. 14Indi kamo magpamati sa ginasiling sang mga propeta nga indi kamo pagsakupon sang hari sang Babilonia, kay kabutigan ang ila ginasiling sa inyo. 15Amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo: ‘Wala ko ginpadala ina nga mga propeta. Nagahambal sila sing butig sa akon ngalan. Gani kon magpati kamo sa ila, tabugon ko kamo kag laglagon, pati ang ina nga mga propeta.’ ”
16Dayon nagsiling ako sa mga pari kag sa tanan nga tawo, “Nagasiling ang Ginoo nga indi kamo magpamati sa mga propeta nga nagasiling nga sa indi madugay ibalik na ang mga kagamitan sang templo halin sa Babilonia. Kabutigan ang ila ginasiling sa inyo. 17Indi kamo magpamati sa ila, kundi mag-alagad kamo sa hari sang Babilonia, kag magakabuhi kamo. Indi na lang kuntani malaglag ini nga siyudad! 18Kon matuod nga mga propeta sila kag ang ila ginahambal halin sa Ginoo, magpakitluoy sila sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom nga ang mga kagamitan nga nabilin sa templo, sa palasyo sang hari sang Juda, kag sa Jerusalem indi na pagdal-on sa Babilonia. 19Kay nagasiling ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom nga ang saway nga mga haligi sang templo, ang suludlan sang tubig nga ginatawag nga Dagat, mga karo nga ginagamit sa paghakot sang tubig, kag ang iban pa nga mga kagamitan sa sini nga siyudad pagadal-on sa Babilonia. 20Ini nga mga kagamitan wala ginpangdala ni Haring Nebucadnezar sa Babilonia sang ginbihag niya halin sa Jerusalem si Haring Jehoyakin sang Juda nga anak ni Jehoyakim, kaupod ang mga opisyal sang Juda kag Jerusalem. 21-22Pero karon, amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, ang Dios sang Israel, ‘Ini nga mga kagamitan pagadal-on sa Babilonia kag magpabilin didto hasta sa tion nga kuhaon ko kag dal-on pabalik sa Jerusalem.’ ”
