Manasseh king of Judah
1Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for fifty-five years. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. 2He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. 3He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshipped them. 4He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, ‘In Jerusalem I will put my Name.’ 5In the two courts of the temple of the Lord, he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practised divination, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger.
7He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the temple, of which the Lord had said to David and to his son Solomon, ‘In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name for ever. 8I will not again make the feet of the Israelites wander from the land I gave their ancestors, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them and will keep the whole Law that my servant Moses gave them.’ 9But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.
10The Lord said through his servants the prophets: 11‘Manasseh king of Judah has committed these detestable sins. He has done more evil than the Amorites who preceded him and has led Judah into sin with his idols. 12Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I am going to bring such disaster on Jerusalem and Judah that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle. 13I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line used against Samaria and the plumb-line used against the house of Ahab. I will wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes out a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. 14I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and give them into the hands of enemies. They will be looted and plundered by all their enemies; 15they have done evil in my eyes and have aroused my anger from the day their ancestors came out of Egypt until this day.’
16Moreover, Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end – besides the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, so that they did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
17As for the other events of Manasseh’s reign, and all he did, including the sin he committed, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 18Manasseh rested with his ancestors and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzza. And Amon his son succeeded him as king.
Amon king of Judah
19Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for two years. His mother’s name was Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz; she was from Jotbah. 20He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done. 21He followed completely the ways of his father, worshipping the idols his father had worshipped, and bowing down to them. 22He forsook the Lord, the God of his ancestors, and did not walk in obedience to him.
23Amon’s officials conspired against him and assassinated the king in his palace. 24Then the people of the land killed all who had plotted against King Amon, and they made Josiah his son king in his place.
25As for the other events of Amon’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 26He was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza. And Josiah his son succeeded him as king.
Domnia lui Manase peste Iuda
(2 Cron. 33:1-10, 18-20)
1Manase era în vârstă de doisprezece ani când a devenit rege și a domnit la Ierusalim timp de cincizeci și cinci de ani. Mama sa se numea Hefți‑Ba1 Nume care înseamnă: Plăcerea mea este în ea.. 2El a făcut ce este rău în ochii Domnului, luându‑se după urâciunile neamurilor pe care Domnul le alungase dinaintea fiilor lui Israel. 3A rezidit înălțimile pe care le distrusese tatăl său, Ezechia, a ridicat altare lui Baal, a făcut un stâlp al Așerei3, 7 Vezi nota de la 13:6., cum făcuse Ahab, regele lui Israel, și s‑a închinat întregii oștiri a cerurilor și i‑a slujit. 4A zidit altare în Casa Domnului, despre care Domnul spusese: „În Ierusalim Îmi voi pune Numele.“ 5El a zidit altare întregii oștiri a cerurilor, în cele două curți ale Casei Domnului. 6Și‑a trecut fiul prin foc6 Sau: Și‑a sacrificat fiul în foc., s‑a ocupat cu prezicerea6 Vezi notele de la Gen. 44:5, 17; Lev. 19:26 și Deut. 18:10. și cu interpretarea semnelor6 Vezi nota de la 17:17., a apelat la cei ce întreabă duhurile morților și la cei care cheamă spiritele6 Vezi nota de la Lev. 19:31 și expresia completă în Deut. 18:11.. El a făcut mult rău în ochii Domnului, mâniindu‑L. 7A pus în Casă chipul cioplit al Așerei pe care‑l făcuse, în Casa despre care Domnul îi spusese lui David și lui Solomon, fiul acestuia: „În Casa aceasta și în Ierusalim, pe care l‑am ales dintre toate cetățile semințiilor lui Israel, Îmi voi pune Numele pe vecie. 8Nu voi mai face ca piciorul lui Israel să rătăcească afară din țara pe care le‑am dat‑o părinților lor, dacă vor avea grijă să împlinească tot ce le‑am poruncit, potrivit cu toată Legea pe care le‑a dat‑o robul Meu Moise.“ 9Dar ei n‑au ascultat și Manase i‑a dus în rătăcire, astfel că ei au făcut mai mult rău decât toate neamurile pe care le nimicise Domnul dinaintea fiilor lui Israel.
10Atunci Domnul a vorbit prin robii Săi, profeții, zicând:
11„Manase, regele lui Iuda, a săvârșit aceste urâciuni, a făcut mai mult rău decât tot ce făcuseră amoriții înainte de el și l‑a făcut și pe Iuda să păcătuiască prin idolii lui. 12De aceea așa vorbește Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Iată, voi aduce o nenorocire peste Ierusalim și peste Iuda, care va răsuna în urechile oricui o va auzi.» 13Voi întinde peste Ierusalim funia de măsură folosită împotriva Samariei și firul de plumb folosit împotriva familiei lui Ahab. Voi curăți Ierusalimul cum curăță cineva o farfurie, ștergând‑o și întorcând‑o cu fața în jos. 14Voi părăsi rămășița moștenirii Mele și o voi da în mâinile dușmanilor ei. Va ajunge de jaful și de prada dușmanilor ei 15pentru că a făcut ce este rău în ochii Mei și M‑a mâniat din ziua în care părinții ei au ieșit din Egipt și până în ziua aceasta.“
16De asemenea, Manase a umplut Ierusalimul, de la un capăt la celălalt, cu sângele nevinovat pe care l‑a vărsat, în afară de păcatul de a‑l fi făcut pe Iuda să păcătuiască și să săvârșească ce este rău în ochii Domnului.
17Celelalte fapte ale lui Manase, tot ce a făcut el și păcatele pe care le‑a săvârșit, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“? 18Manase a adormit alături de părinții săi și a fost înmormântat în grădina palatului său, în Grădina lui Uza18, 26 Probabil o formă prescurtată a lui Uzia (vezi nota de la 15:1).. În locul lui a domnit fiul său Amon.
Domnia lui Amon peste Iuda
(2 Cron. 33:21-25)
19Amon era în vârstă de douăzeci și doi de ani când a devenit rege și a domnit la Ierusalim timp de doi ani. Mama sa se numea Meșulemet și era fiica lui Haruț din Iotba. 20El a făcut ce este rău în ochii Domnului, la fel cum făcuse tatăl său Manase. 21A umblat în toate căile în care umblase și tatăl său, slujind și închinându‑se idolilor cărora le slujise și Manase. 22L‑a părăsit pe Domnul, Dumnezeul părinților săi, și nu a umblat pe Calea Domnului.
23Slujitorii lui Amon au uneltit împotriva lui și l‑au omorât pe rege în palatul lui, 24dar poporul țării i‑a omorât pe toți aceia care uneltiseră împotriva regelui Amon. Apoi, în locul lui Amon, poporul țării l‑a făcut rege pe fiul acestuia, Iosia.
25Celelalte fapte pe care le‑a făcut Amon, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“? 26El a fost înmormântat în mormântul său, în Grădina lui Uza, iar în locul lui a domnit fiul său Iosia.
