The Flying Scroll
1I looked again, and there before me was a flying scroll.
2He asked me, “What do you see?”
I answered, “I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.5:2 That is, about 30 feet long and 15 feet wide or about 9 meters long and 4.5 meters wide”
3And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished. 4The Lord Almighty declares, ‘I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’ ”
The Woman in a Basket
5Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what is appearing.”
6I asked, “What is it?”
He replied, “It is a basket.” And he added, “This is the iniquity5:6 Or appearance of the people throughout the land.”
7Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman! 8He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.
9Then I looked up—and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.
10“Where are they taking the basket?” I asked the angel who was speaking to me.
11He replied, “To the country of Babylonia5:11 Hebrew Shinar to build a house for it. When the house is ready, the basket will be set there in its place.”
El rollo que volaba
1Alcé otra vez la vista y vi ante mí un rollo que volaba. 2El ángel me preguntó: «¿Qué es lo que ves?». Y yo respondí: «Veo un rollo que vuela, de veinte codos de largo por diez codos de ancho».5:2 Es decir, aprox. 9 m de largo por 4.5 m de ancho.
3Entonces el ángel me dijo: «Esta es la maldición que caerá sobre todo el país. Según lo escrito en ambos lados del rollo, tanto el ladrón como el que jura en falso serán desterrados. 4Así afirma el Señor de los Ejércitos: “Yo he desencadenado esta maldición para que entre en la casa del ladrón y en la del que jura con falsedad por mi nombre. Se alojará dentro de su casa y la destruirá, junto con sus vigas y sus piedras”».
La mujer en un recipiente
5Entonces el ángel que hablaba conmigo salió y me dijo: «Alza la vista y fíjate en esto que ha aparecido».
6«¿Y qué es?», pregunté. Él me contestó: «Es un recipiente».5:6 un recipiente. Lit. un efa, es decir, un recipiente de medida; también en vv. 7, 9 y 10. Y agregó: «Es la maldad de la gente de todo el país».
7Se levantó entonces la tapa de plomo y dentro de ese recipiente había una mujer sentada. 8El ángel dijo: «Esta es la maldad». Y la empujó de nuevo dentro del recipiente, el cual cubrió luego con la tapa de plomo.
9Alcé la vista y vi ante mí dos mujeres que salían batiendo sus alas al viento. Tenían alas como de cigüeña y alzaron el recipiente entre la tierra y el cielo.
10Yo pregunté al ángel que hablaba conmigo: «¿A dónde se llevan el recipiente?». 11Y él me respondió: «Se lo llevan al país de Sinar,5:11 Sinar. Es decir, Babilonia. para construirle una casa. Cuando la casa esté lista, colocarán el recipiente allí, sobre un pedestal».
