Psalm 97
1The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
2Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.
4His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all peoples see his glory.
7All who worship images are put to shame,
those who boast in idols—
worship him, all you gods!
8Zion hears and rejoices
and the villages of Judah are glad
because of your judgments, Lord.
9For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

12Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous,
and praise his holy name.
Salmo 97
1O Senhor domina e governa sobre tudo o que existe.
Que a Terra inteira se alegre com isso!
Que os vastos e distantes continentes
se regozijem com essa verdade!
2Nuvens e escuridão rodeiam-no;
a retidão e a justiça são os fundamentos do seu trono.
3À sua frente vai um fogo
que consome todos os seus inimigos.
4Os seus relâmpagos atravessam todo o firmamento;
toda a Terra vê o que acontece e estremece.
5As montanhas derretem-se como cera
diante do Senhor que domina toda a Terra.
6Os céus proclamam a sua justiça;
a sua glória é vista por todos os povos.
7Que fiquem envergonhados
todos os que adoram imagens de escultura,
e têm vaidade nesses ídolos inúteis!
Que todos esses pretensos deuses
se inclinem perante o Senhor!
8Sião e todas as cidades de Judá
ouviram falar da tua justiça, Senhor, e se alegraram.
9Pois tu, Senhor, dominas sobre toda a Terra;
és bem superior a todos esses falsos deuses.
10Os que amam o Senhor, aborreçam o mal;
ele protege a vida do seu povo e livra-o da mão dos maus.
11A luz é feita para os retos
e a alegria para os que têm um coração íntegro.
12Alegrem-se, os que são justos aos olhos do Senhor,
e deem louvores ao nosso santo Deus!
