1The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
2Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly,
but those who despise him are devious in their ways.
3A fool’s mouth lashes out with pride,
but the lips of the wise protect them.
4Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests.
5An honest witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies.
6The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
7Stay away from a fool,
for you will not find knowledge on their lips.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways,
but the folly of fools is deception.
9Fools mock at making amends for sin,
but goodwill is found among the upright.
10Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can share its joy.
11The house of the wicked will be destroyed,
but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.
13Even in laughter the heart may ache,
and rejoicing may end in grief.
14The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways,
and the good rewarded for theirs.
15The simple believe anything,
but the prudent give thought to their steps.
16The wise fear the Lord and shun evil,
but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.
17A quick-tempered person does foolish things,
and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.
18The simple inherit folly,
but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19Evildoers will bow down in the presence of the good,
and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20The poor are shunned even by their neighbors,
but the rich have many friends.
21It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor,
but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.
22Do not those who plot evil go astray?
But those who plan what is good find14:22 Or show love and faithfulness.
23All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.
24The wealth of the wise is their crown,
but the folly of fools yields folly.
25A truthful witness saves lives,
but a false witness is deceitful.
26Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,
and for their children it will be a refuge.
27The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
turning a person from the snares of death.
28A large population is a king’s glory,
but without subjects a prince is ruined.
29Whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
30A heart at peace gives life to the body,
but envy rots the bones.
31Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,
but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
32When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down,
but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.
33Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning

34Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin condemns any people.
35A king delights in a wise servant,
but a shameful servant arouses his fury.
1زن دانا خانه خود را بنا می‌كند، اما زن نادان با دست خود خانه‌اش را خراب می‌كند.
2كسانی كه به راستی عمل می‌كنند به خداوند احترام می‌گذارند، ولی اشخاص بدكار او را تحقير می‌كنند.
3احمق چوب حرفهای متكبرانهٔ خود را می‌خورد، ولی سخنان مرد دانا او را محافظت می‌كند.
4اگر در طويله گاو نباشد، طويله تميز می‌ماند، اما بدون گاو نمی‌توان محصول زيادی به دست آورد.
5شاهد امين دروغ نمی‌گويد، ولی از دهان شاهد ناراست دروغ می‌بارد.
6كسی كه همه چيز را به باد مسخره می‌گيرد هرگز نمی‌تواند حكمت پيدا كند، اما شخص فهيم به آسانی آن را به دست می‌آورد.
7از احمقان دوری كن زيرا چيزی ندارند به تو ياد دهند.
8حكمت شخص عاقل راهنمای اوست، اما حماقت احمقان باعث گمراهی آنان می‌شود.
9آدمهای احمق با گناه بازی می‌كنند، اما درستكاران رضايت خدا را می‌طلبند.
10تنها دل خود شخص است كه تلخی جان او را احساس می‌كند و در شادی او نيز كسی جز خودش نمی‌تواند سهيم باشد.
11خانهٔ بدكاران خراب می‌شود، اما خيمهٔ درستكاران وسعت می‌يابد.
12راههايی هستند كه به نظر انسان راست می‌آيند اما عاقبت به مرگ منتهی می‌شوند.
13خنده نمی‌تواند اندوه دل را پنهان سازد؛ هنگامی كه خنده پايان می‌يابد، درد و اندوه برجای خود باقی می‌ماند.
14آدم خدانشناس نتيجهٔ كارهای خود را خواهد ديد و شخص نيک از ثمرهٔ اعمال خويش بهره خواهد برد.
15آدم ساده لوح هر حرفی را باور می‌كند، اما شخص زيرک سنجيده رفتار می‌نمايد. 16شخص دانا محتاط است و از خطر دوری می‌كند، ولی آدم نادان از روی غرور، خود را به خطر می‌اندازد.
17آدم تندخو كارهای احمقانه می‌كند و شخص حيله‌گر مورد نفرت قرار می‌گيرد.
18حماقت نصيب جاهلان می‌شود و دانايی نصيب زيركان.
19بدكاران عاقبت در برابر نيكان سر تعظيم فرود خواهند آورد و محتاج آنان خواهند شد.
20ثروتمندان دوستان بسيار دارند، اما شخص فقير را حتی همسايه‌هايش تحقير می‌كنند.
21خوار شمردن فقرا گناه است. خوشا به حال كسی كه بر آنها ترحم كند.
22كسانی كه نقشه‌های پليد در سر می‌پرورانند گمراه خواهند شد، ولی آنانی كه نيت خوب دارند مورد محبت و اعتماد قرار خواهند گرفت.
23كسی كه زحمت می‌كشد منفعت عايدش می‌شود، ولی آنكه فقط حرف می‌زند فقير خواهد شد.
24ثروت نصيب دانايان خواهد شد، اما پاداش احمقان حماقت ايشان است.
25شاهد راستگو جان مردم را نجات می‌دهد، اما شاهد دروغگو به مردم خيانت می‌كند.
26كسی كه از خداوند می‌ترسد تكيه‌گاه محكمی دارد و فرزندانش در امان خواهند بود.
27خداترسی چشمهٔ حيات است و انسان را از دامهای مرگ دور نگه می‌دارد.
28عظمت يک پادشاه بستگی به تعداد مردمی دارد كه بر آنها فرمان می‌راند. پادشاه بدون قوم نابود می‌شود.
29كسی كه صبر و تحمل دارد شخص بسيار عاقلی است، اما از آدم تندخو حماقت سر می‌زند.
30آرامش فكر به بدن سلامتی می‌بخشد، اما حسادت مانند خوره جان را می‌خورد.
31هر كه به فقرا ظلم كند به آفرينندهٔ آنها اهانت كرده است و هر كه به فقرا ترحم نمايد، به خدا احترام گذاشته است.
32خداشناسان وقتی بميرند پناهگاهی دارند، اما گناهكاران بوسيلهٔ گناهان خودشان تباه می‌شوند.
33اشخاص فهميده حكمت را در دل خود حفظ می‌كنند، اما آدمهای نادان آن را به نمايش می‌گذارند.
34درستكاری مايه سرافرازی يک قوم است و گناه مايه رسوايی آن.
35پادشاه از خدمتگزاران كاردان خشنود می‌گردد، ولی كسانی كه دردسر ايجاد می‌كنند مورد غضب او واقع می‌شوند.
